My advice is to never, ever hire Home By Choice Solutions, unless you want inferior products installed in your house and an unprofessional attitude accompanying it.

They don't stand behind their work. My parents and I hired Home by Choice Solutions in 2021/2022 for renovations and new flooring and couldn't have been happier. We even referred them to others. We contacted Troy in February '23 to look at our floors, we have chunks out of the laminate flooring and I have several floor boards coming up. Troy agreed that this should not be happening and said he would call the retail store where the material was purchased, and the manufacturer and would get back to us. After several calls and texts, we have received no response or resolution.

And not only did they take a look at every detail of the project, they worked with us to strategically fix the things that were the highest risk. As the project scope increased to resolve badly done plumbing and tile work by our previous contractor, Ramis would sit us down and talk with us and have us sign off on every minor change to the SOW. Every night Ramis would send us photos of the work done and let us know of any changes in timeline and what he would be doing next if a major milestone was completed. Bruce, who was doing a majority of the work, would always show up on time, and communicate often. His craftsmanship was world class. At one point Ramis needed to have a plumber come by and fix our shower plumbing connections, and we ran into an issue with scheduling as his main plumber was on a job in Milwaukee at the time. He notified us that he will ask his other client if it was ok if he can have his plumber on our site that day, else it would take 2 days. While this changed the timeline at a negligible level, his honesty in how he discussed this situation, and his attempt at solving the problem built a lot of trust with us and Ramis. Every single member of his team was licensed, insured and bonded, and since the bathroom job Ramis has always been helpful with the multiple times I've called him about other issues.

Martin and his crew are fantastic at what they do. They made our really ugly upstairs hallway bathroom into a masterpiece! Not only is their work of the highest quality, but they are as clever and creative as they are skilled - always finding solutions for little, unavoidable reno issues that might crop up along the way. They also know what looks good, so it's great to be able to bounce design ideas off of them as they certainly know what they are talking about. Martin is a professional and honest businessman, and even when he is not on-site, and his guys are courteous, trustworthy, respectful, and helpful while working in your home. They are considerate of your time and space and work with you to get the project done in a reasonable amount of time and for a reasonable price. We started the project on a Monday morning and they were done about a week later (this was a total gut job). I was aware of the negative review here from 2016 so I figured it was fair to balance it out. We completely renovated our master bath and the project took over a month and had many surprises such as rotting wood found after ripping up old floor and electric and PVC vent pipes which needed to be moved once a wall was removed but... everything went smoothly and was done with good quality. I understood ahead of time that the project was "time and materials" and had a ballpark estimate but unanticipated issues do come up and we did have changes and additions as well... any reasonable person understands this. I did get visits and quotes from other contractors and many more who never answered their phones, returned messages, or delivered promised quotes, you know that's pretty standard if you've done enough projects. Bottom line, Martin shows up when he says he will and completes the project in a reasonable amount of time. Regarding the comments about subcontractors, NOBODY can do it all and must rely on subs for things outside of their specialty. I took recommendations from Martin on where to buy tile and flooring and the prices were almost half of a big name tile store in my area! I also used a granite supplier he put me in touch with, they did great work and I was able to score a remnant which we loved which I'd estimate saved us around $1,000. Finally, the glass supplier was also a recommendation and that too was a good call. Martin wouldn't put you in touch with someone he didn't trust and I'm sure he isn't getting kickbacks as was suggested! Do enough home projects over the years and you'll encounter good, bad, and mediocre work... don't be afraid to use Martin.
