a pig with lipstick--Quality is NOT Its Priority: My Experience with Arna Remodeling - Arcadii's…read moreWork If standing in my tub and stepping onto the tile outside of it didn't land with a squeak each and every day, this review and my frustration wouldn't linger. But here we are--asking why my tub squeaks when stepped in, and why the tile outside of it also squeaks. These noises serve as a daily reminder of a job poorly done and a contractor's lack of skill and care. I have wrestled with the work Arcadii has done to my home and now see the full toll his lack of skill, professionalism, and care has taken. Lack of Care and Communication One of the most disappointing aspects of this project was how it was handled. After completely gutting my bathroom, Arcadii only then informed me of what he would NOT do--things I had requested from the beginning. These included: * Installing a shut-off valve in the basement * Properly venting the fan to the outside * Wrapping the tile around the bathroom, instead of just the tub area Had I known this earlier, I simply would have replaced the toilet myself and saved myself the trouble. Adding insult to injury, during this process I was dealing with herniated disks and sciatica, yet I was left to lift and dispose of a five-gallon bucket of water collecting from the tub pipe--for days. Carelessness and Poor Workmanship The carelessness didn't stop there. Here are just a few more examples of how this project was mishandled: * Toilet Installation: The new toilet ran constantly, requiring adjustment--which I did myself. Even more shockingly, the toilet was sealed with spray foam. When I checked from downstairs, I could see yellow foam protruding around the toilet and onto the floor. * Vent Cover: The vent cover was not replaced, nor was the prior one put back in place. Instead, I was left with an uncovered hole in my wall. * Vanity: The sink was not properly set on its base. The drain was sealed with caulk, which is not how it is designed to function. To make matters worse, the vanity drawer was rendered nearly useless when a large section of the back panel was sawed out unnecessarily. This exposed long, bent nails, which I had to request be repaired for safety reasons--especially for children using the drawer. * Baseboard and Caulk: The baseboard was left unpainted, and spaces requiring caulk were not fully sealed. Lack of Professionalism Beyond the poor workmanship, the lack of professionalism was evident. * He left a new replacement toilet in the parkway of my house and initially claimed he would dispose of it--only to laugh about it having water inside. * My Home Depot credit card, which he had in his possession to buy needed materials. Final Thought: A Pig with Lipstick You more than likely will end up with a project you would label as a pig with lipstick--an illusion of a finished job masking glaring problems. The care for your home, and the wealth you intended to build within it, will be diminished. If you value integrity, quality workmanship, and someone who does what is right--even when no one is watching--this is NOT the contractor for you.

If Ziggy is working at one house, and sends a couple of his guys to yours to do a smaller job, trust me, he will be popping in on a regular basis to make sure things are done correctly, and perfectly. This man will provide you with QUALITY work and takes pride in providing you with a beautiful job. He never takes advantage of anyone on cost. Ziggy is a fair man. Ziggy has strong opinions on the best material to be used for the project due to his experience. I have strong opinions on my aesthetic outcome. He's more practical I feel, and I'm more aesthetic, and both of us opinionated on what we think is best. With his talent and knowledge of what he's doing, and what I like to think of as my good aesthetic eye, we together recently produced a bathroom I could live in! It's happened where a company does a good job for someone, then a less than stellar job for another person leaving the homeowner disappointed. I never want to be that person who steered someone wrong, even if it's out of my control and I was pleased with the work rendered at my place.
