We were moving out of our apartment in Ann Arbor and hired Hi-Five to remove anything that we weren't able to sell or give away. We asked them to give usable items to charity and to dispose of the rest. They were easy to communicate with and they arrived just a few minutes behind schedule, which wasn't a problem because they were communicating with me via text message and I was never left in the dark. Even though this was a removal and disposal job, they treated all items and our building with respect. Nothing was damaged and the building was left in great shape. My moving experience was almost entirely stress-free because of Dilon and Julian. Dilon was so easy to communicate with prior to my move, and answered even my silliest of questions with care and kindness. They kept me in the loop they were running a bit behind day of, and once they arrived - almost my entire 1 bedroom apartment was out and being packed in the truck within 15 minutes. It was really impressive how efficient they were and I could tell they were handling all my items with care. They got my heavy Crate & Barrel sofa out and down 3 flights of stairs without a single scuff to the walls (something that my friends that had helped me move into my old place did not manage lol) and then in a teensy tiny elevator at my new place no problem. They were really fun to hang out with through the process and made me laugh through a situation that normally I would be insanely anxious throughout. Their attention to detail and efficiency made me feel like they had everything under control so I could focus on the smaller tasks I needed to do, like setting up my internet (that work from home life lol). This is the second time we have used Dilon and Hi five. Dilon went above and beyond working with me to get my cube packed for cross country move a family heirloom furniture to California. He said he was known for maximizing what he could get in a pod and I definitely think he did. He stuck to his original quote and charged very reasonable fee for materials such as strapping. My pod was delivered at 10:00AM and he had it loaded shortly thereafter and it's being picked up today! Just unloaded the cube in CA. Everything was in great condition. I booked a cross-town move in Ann Arbor for a 2 BR apartment with Dillon back in September 2017. Unfortunately, Dillon no-showed the move, and we were left stranded. I am leaving a full review here to make new customers aware of my experience. We booked Dillon because he had a perfect 5-star rating on Yelp, which I really trusted. We coordinated the move entirely through Yelp messages, and Dillon worked really hard to get my business. At one point I told him that we were opting to rent a Uhaul and hire hourly helpers instead of going with Hi-Five, and Dillon worked with me to reduce the price of their services. I thought that was really generous, so we booked them. Booking them consisted of filling out a google doc online with the details about my move. It included the date and time, which Dillon had confirmed would work through Yelp messages. I did not put down a credit card deposit. Dillon sent a message confirming that he got the form, but never explicitly confirmed the date and time of our move after I filled out the google doc. The day before the move I sent him a Yelp message to confirm the details. I never heard back from him, but crossed my fingers that everything would go smoothly. As you can imagine, there were a million other things going on that day as we got ready to move, so I forgot to try calling him. The day of the move, a Wednesday, Hi-Five was supposed to arrive at 8 AM. We got up at 6 to do some last minute prep and then waited around. At 8:05 I got a message from Dillon on Yelp. I excitedly looked at it, expecting it to say "we're around the corner" or something to that effect, but instead it explained that they were, in fact, not coming. One of his guys called off and he couldn't find a replacement. Dillon offered to do the job at half price, and asked whether we could move the job to the next day. We discussed doing the move that evening instead, and Dillon said he could do the move himself that evening (he was out of town at the moment), but we were worried about delaying the move to the evening because we still had to clean the apartment and be out by midnight. In the end, we got a Uhaul by 9 AM and did the move ourselves. It was terrible. But we had to get it done and did not want to delay any longer, especially since we had no confidence that Dillon would ever show up after he had already no-showed on us. Dillon offered to pay for the Uhaul, saying that he wanted to make the situation right as best he could, but that seemed completely beside the point. Ultimately, we were able to move our things without Dillon, and we're lucky that we are two physically fit people who can just up and move an entire apartment on a moment's notice. But we were exhausted and missed an entire day of work because of it (instead of having it done by 11 AM). More importantly, a new customer may not be in our position. If you are not physically able to move your things, and this happened to you, it would have been a major major problem. Like other Yelpers, I felt that Dillon was really professional. But looking back, there was not enough communication from him to let me know that the situation was under control (and obviously, it wasn't). I should have seen the signs in the lack of communication leading up to the big day to know that he would not show up. When you're in the process of coordinating a move, the last thing you'd expect is for your movers to no-show. I felt like an absolute fool on the day of the move, and I really hope that this does not happen to anyone else. read more

They put my mattress in the mattress cover I bought and removed it once it was settled in the new spot. I texted Dilon on a Tuesday night at 5:02pm about a piano that we needed to move out of our apartment on Friday morning at 9:30am. I thought we'd hear back the next day, but he got back to me promptly at 6:49, and continued the conversation by text until we had things figured out. He then sent me a simple Google job form to fill out, and we were all set. It was a super easy process, and since our previous piano mover fell through, it was a huge relief. On Friday morning, Dilon and Colin showed up a little before 9:30, were super personable, easy to talk to, and had a great sense of humor. They moved the piano from our apartment to our U-Haul, even being up for negotiating a really tight fit through a back sliding door, and a trek up a part-grassy/part-gravel-covered incline. I've had 3 different moving companies in the last 5 years, and Dilon is by far the best I've had. He gave us a ridiculously low quote over the phone after messaging him pictures of my condo. His professionalism and courtesy were the reason we chose him, not the price. The guys spent at least 5 hours moving us, which required two trips and scaling 3 flights of stairs every. friggin. time. they moved something into our new home. Despite the enormity of my 91 inch Turner Roll Arm sofa and 70 inch TV, they had no problem moving everything in without a scratch to my furniture or my new paint (see my review of Fastrac painting if you need a painter!). We liked these guys so much we called them back over the next day to move a 300 pound dining room table that I bought after moving in.
