I needed help moving some stuff from my house to my office in Ann Arbor, and Two Men and a Truck came through with flying colors. They responded to my request quickly and were flexible with accommodating my schedule. (There was some discussion with the main office about how late the move would go and whether it might keep the crew out past 5 PM, which tells me that they're looking out for their employees--which is important to me.) The crew actually contacted me on the day of the move and asked if they could come 30 minutes *early*--virtually unheard of in any of my previous moves. They got it all done in less than the quoted time, and the guys were friendly and professional despite the fact that it was raining out and therefore not the most pleasant conditions. I also got a call from the main office the day after following up on the move and asking for my feedback. This was a relatively simple gig as moves go (20 some odd small boxes of books halfway across town), but Two Men and a Truck proved themselves capable, efficient, and responsive. I would definitely call them back for a bigger move in the future, and would recommend them to other folks looking for a moving company in the area. read more

We've used these guys for multiple moves within the house, when we had to move heavy furniture around to accommodate kids moving back in for awhile, etc., and for that these guys are ok, although the last time they scratched wood stairs and the exercise equipment they were moving, perhaps because they didn't have enough guys, and/or didn't use a belt. They did know ahead of time exactly what they were moving. The more distressing thing is the condition of furniture that was put in storage. They did not plastic or blanket wrap antique wood furniture, or box lamp shades, so that we have several badly scratched table tops and a broken Tiffany glass lamp shade. They didn't even think to cover the floors moving furniture in and out in the middle of winter when they were going through slush to get to the trucks, and when I covered the entrance they kicked the covering aside and walked on the floor anyway. Eric and Lucas did an outstanding job handling our in house move of some furniture along with hauling away a couch for disposal. They were very friendly and only took the minimum quoted time to complete the job. I was able to get a quote via a text with 15 minutes and all the paperwork was flawlessly emailed to me immediately. I've been disabled for some time. The disabled parking spot isn't a nice to have. It's a big deal. I pulled into my apartment several weeks ago and found that the movers had parked across the spot. I asked them to move several times. I was eventually told that the movers had called their boss. He told them not to move. Keep working. I forgot to send the video to the A2 Police. Perhaps a project for today. Regardless, would you use a company who instructs their employees to knowingly break city ordinances and then watch the disabled guy crawl up the stairs? We had a fantastic experience with Two Men and a Truck on our recent move from Ann Arbor to Chicago. They were recommended to us by a fellow graduate student who also had a positive experience with the Ann Arbor team. We spoke to several moving companies, and Two Men and a Truck's estimate for our intrastate move was directly in line with competitors. They performed a video survey of our two bedroom, two bathroom apartment and Ethan did a great job estimating the amount of space we would ultimately need. The office staff was accommodating and available for questions, and we were easily able to book our desired move date. Our actual movers were excellent. Derek and Denzel were friendly, efficient, and extremely professional. They were on time both days of our move, and handled all our personal items with care - everything arrived safely and in good condition. Two trucks ended up in ditches with movers laughing as my furniture was being held by only a few straps. They don't pay their movers anything. Too young to recognize and respect the value of anyone else's things. Bought insurance and still dealing with them on all the damage they did to both houses. If I could give less than a 1 I would. We called several movers for quotes and they came in at the best price. The movers themselves did a good job and we paid them the agreed upon price in full upon moving our stuff for a short stay in storage. Once we called to have our furniture delivered we were told that we owed another $2500 after we paid the initial $2000. Crooks is not an overstatement. They had our furniture and when we said that wasn't the quote that was given they gave us a run around. When we tried to pull up our initial quote and contract through the email traffic--somehow it EXPIRED and was unavailable and they said they did not have access because that employee left and they could not access any of his quotes or files. So they charged us more than DOUBLE our quoted price and did a half ass job delivering the furniture. Had we known how crooked this company is we would have gone with anyone else. It has been a horrible experience from the start and still not finished. Moved out-of-state after selling home and needed to put contents of home into multiple storage units - 2men was well aware of how much/what was needing to move - all the specifics. Paid for their largest truck which they assured us would haul everything - they loaded contents of 1st storage unit, only loaded truck partially, did not strap tall contents like mattresses so they were flopped over. When they got to 2nd unit, they said they couldn't load anymore and they we were getting into overtime and anything more would be additional $$$. The work was completed in almost half of the quoted time, which was a huge cost savings, and the guys were polite, friendly, and got the job done with no damage or issues to speak of. When we hired them, they had 3 stars on Yelp, so I was nervous, but we were having difficulty finding movers for the right day, and heard many good reviews via word of month, so we gave them a try. We're glad we did. They did a great job with our move. We moved from an apartment in Ann Arbor to a new house. We hired them for packing, the move, and some unpacking. They packed the day before the moved, and unpacked onto the nearest flat surface. They provided all the moving supplies, and took it all away them with at the end (at our request). I hired Two Men and a Truck to help me move last weekend. Pam in the office was very helpful in answering my questions and arranging details. The movers called to tell me they were on their way, arrived at the beginning of the quoted window and were very pleasant. They moved quickly but were not careless. The fact that they were able to get my oversized couch down my narrow stairs in just a few minutes was extremely impressive. Including a quick stop at the ReUse Center to drop off a few pieces that would not fit in my new place, the entire move took 1.25 hours. I didn't have to deal with the hassle of moving (particularly with my narrow/scary steps) and paid less than $300, which I'm told is good. I definitely recommend TM&aT! read more

I recently hired Two Men and a Truck to help move furniture around at my office. Derrick and Steve did an awesome job. They hauled 6' x 3' x 3' desks up narrow stairs and avoided all the paintings hanging on the walls. They moved filing cabinets out from the second floor. All in all, we shifted over a dozen offices, and they followed me to the recycling center and removed 7 old heavy pieces of furniture (desks, bookshelves, filing cabinets). The two guys did great, were respectful to the building, and were pleasant company even though they were moving heavy furniture for over three hours. Can I give negative stars? I moved on Monday, April 17 and am very disappointed with the cost and the service. The move was just under $4,000 for an in town move. $1,700 more than expected/quoted. I paid for insurance and told the manager that my $600 vacuum was damaged and that a bookcases was damaged. There has been no response. How do I put in an insurance claim? How do I submit a claim as I go through items in the future weeks? Not all my items were brought from my older house. I have spent the last few evenings with a few people and still am not done. I cannot afford to take off any more work! I told one man that there was boxes in the cabinets in the garage and they never took them. I asked them to get the glider chair from my front porch and it is still there. There is a TV - flat screen 32" - that they didn't have room for and my printer. Plus boxes in the basement. At the new house they We used your company 2 1/2 years ago and it was great but not this time. And my sister used this service on April 1 with no issues. At my new place, they just threw all the boxes in the garage. Not a single box in the house. I was charged for 7 guys and 3 trucks. I feel very taken advantage of. Never again will I use or EVER recommend this company to anyone ever. Issue #1: When you schedule a move they ask you for a list of all of your stuff, fair enough, they need to know how big of a truck to bring. The CSR that wrote down my list however WAY underestimated. We gave her a complete list and they only brought a single truck when they probably could have filled 2 full trucks. I had to rent a Uhaul the next day and move all the stuff myself, which was the whole reason I hired movers, to avoid having to do it myself. Issue #2: They charge an hourly rate for 2 guys and an extra $50/hour for a third guy to be there. This practice in itself doesn't bother me but when your third guy just sits there and is more concerned with chugging energy drinks than actually picking things up and putting them on the truck, that's a problem. They got an extra $50/hr (250 in total) to have the third guy Chris, just sit and occasionally wrap stuff with a blanket before it was loaded onto the truck by the other two. ***That said, the other two guys were awesome, the driver and the other mover I would for sure hire again if they weren't working for this company. Issue #3: When I tried to call about getting a small refund (roughly 15%) management was not helpful at all. He just sat on the phone and said uh-huh and ok, and I'll have to speak with my manager for you, which by the way he never did. I asked for contact information for his manager, which he wouldn't give to me, so I asked for a call back, never got one. I understand not giving out the phone numbers for management because the last thing they want is a disgruntled customer like me harassing them all day long, but at least have the courtesy to call me back. Issue #4: They did some minor damage to our wooden furniture which I paid for the extra insurance so this stuff would get fixed if necessary. It has now been a month since our move and I have yet to hear from any repairman about getting the repair completed. I called 2m&at again today and they completely blew off my call with the uh-huh, ok, ill call my manager routine again. Bottom Line: I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE EVER. The manager of the Ann Arbor branch, Michael, handled this situation horribly when given the chance to easily resolve any concerns I had. If I could give negative 5 stars I would. read more

I moved last week and was so incredibly impressed by Two Men and a Truck! Particularly the three guys who worked on my move: Jeff, Matt T, and Elijah! My old apartment had the WORST spiral staircase and the movers did not even flinch when they saw the beds and dressers they were going to have to bring down. The guys were on time, friendly, efficient, and very careful. They double checked on things they were uncertain about, but were still so quick on getting things out of the old place and into the new place. It was a really hot and humid day and they did not slow down or complain. I was also grateful for the realistic quote they gave me as opposed to other moving companies that did not listen when I said I had stairs from hell. I recently moved from Ypsilanti to Ann Arbor, and decided to hire Two Men and a Truck to help. When the guys arrived, I informed them of the furniture that was going to be donated to Habitat for Humanity and which would be coming with us. Then, I walked into the other room to comfort my cat. When I walked back into the living room, almost everything was gone - including the furniture I told them to leave alone. We got the big stuff back off the truck, but I didn't want to waste time, so I just decided to deal with the extra hassle of having excess furniture later. Additionally, not all the items that were marked for donation ended up in the charity locker, so I ended up making a few extra trips to Salvation Army on my own. To be fair, my move was more complicated than had been expected and was noted on the original quote. I felt like a horrible person since the estimate said they were only moving a few pieces of furniture and it turned out to be a couple pieces of furniture and a ton of boxes. We also added a stop and a half with items going to a storage unit and the accompanying charity donation unit. Everything was pretty packed when the guys arrived, so they just got to work moving stuff from the apartment to the truck. They kept the door open, shielded it with a pad, and got on their way. I've used a moving company before, and they padded a lot of my furniture and completely wrapped my television to keep it from receiving damage. Two Men and a Truck did not do this. Everything just piled up in the truck. Additionally, the lamps were left for me to transport because of liability in case they broke in the truck. They also didn't take anything in bags because the bags could open in the truck. I don't know how many times I heard "It's a company liability." In the end, my stuff ended up moving from Ypsilanti to Ann Arbor, and that's what I paid them for. We were able to finish in the allotted time, and it cost less than expected. read more

I wish this system allowed you to award negative stars, because that's what Two Men and a Truck (Ann Arbor) deserves in my opinion. After booking a move and spending days preparing my apartment, I was appalled at this Company's complete disregard for a customer. The movers were scheduled to arrive in a two-hour window in the afternoon. I received a call earlier that day informing me they would likely arrive in the last 45 minutes of that window, which was fine as I had other errands to run. Thirty minutes prior to the beginning of when they stated they would arrive (30 mins prior to the beginning of the last 45 min window) I got a voicemail that the movers were outside my apartment and were unable to find parking so I would need to reschedule for the following week. I returned their call within ten minutes and they were unwilling to come back to my apartment even though I explained that they were early and that there was an unoccupied alley across the street they could utilize. Further, at the beginning of the last 45 minute window, I had saved two spots right outside my apartment. Not only was the Company unwilling to come back to my apartment, they refused to reschedule for later that afternoon or early the next morning. We had an agreement, but they were seemingly trying their hardest not to fulfill it. It seemed that their attitude was basically, "sorry, but we're not sorry - because we think it's your fault." Needless to say, these guys put me in a serious bind and worse yet, were very unapologetic. I can't urge you enough not to use them - look elsewhere. read more

This is among the worst moving companies in the world. The customer service is horrible, the manager was condescending, and the movers attempted to make their unwillingness to live up to their agreement our fault. Having moved several times previously, we knew we needed to book in advance, provide a detailed assessment of the move to the booking agent, and have material in boxes and ready to go when the movers arrived. When we called the booking agent, we had to practically beg them to add more space and time to the contract based on home size, even though we knew from prior experience what was involved. We suggested that htey visit the home to see what the move would entail, as other companies have done, but they said it wasn't necessary, they could easily know from my description. So, we set up the contract. Move day came, the movers arrived somewhat late. It was the hottest day of the summer, so not a great day to move, but we had Gatorade and some snacks for the crew. They took one look at the load, said they were sure it was too big for them to do, and called the manager to come out for a solution. He showed up 45 minutes later, told us that the job was too large and not something they wanted, and canceled the contract on the spot. This was ON MOVE DAY. And the manager condescended to us and basically tried to tell us we had lied to the booking agent. We were then left desperately trying to find a mover on very short notice--which we succeeded at, albeit costing us quite a bit more. Very bad experience!! No customer service! I hired them to do a 30 mile move last week, I also purchased they're most expensive optional insurance coverage due to the value of many of my pieces. I found damage on a very expensive sofa the next morning, I contacted them that morning to file a damage claim including supporting pics of the damage. In the last 10 years we have moved 6 times. A few times the boss paid for it, other times, we paid for it. This time it came out of our pocket so we chose Two Men & a Truck to unload our 26ft Uhaul and they were great. Very honest, thorough, I requested 3 guys and they showed up with 3 guys - on time, with a designated team leader. One time they placed a few boxes in the wrong place, when I brought it to their attention they moved quickly to rectify the situation. I was glad we called them and I would recommend them to anyone in Ann Arbor. Just a tip to anybody moving - tell your moving company in advance how many guys you want, you might pay more for 3 people but you get done a lot faster - one of them focuses on safety, clean-up and organization while the others do the heavy lifting. read more

Overall the movers and office staff are very professional and courteous and were careful with our furniture. Our complaint is that they were hugely off on the estimate for the cost of the move and for the amount of containers we would need to store our furniture .The estimate person Cheney and Dave the lead mover both indicated that there would not be an additional charge to place the furniture in the containers yet we were charged for this anyways. Estimate was for 12 containers yet 19 were needed. Needless to say this has resulted in a much more significant cost. Had we received a more accurate estimate we would not have utilized this service .Feeling very taken at this point. read more

Showed up on time and moved things VERY quickly. If you want fast, this is absolutely the service to choose. The guys were really nice/friendly. Those are the positives. Now that I've had a couple days to organize things in the new place I am noticing several damaged items. I guess that's what happens though when everything is moved so quickly. That said, I did originally tell them they'd only be moving four items and instead they moved half my apartment so I can't blame them for going fast, they may have had another client to get to and they took the extra work in stride without making a big deal of me changing things. (so I guess there's positive and negative on this one) I believe I did purchase the insurance but the things that are damaged don't really have a monetary value (can't be replaced) or are worth very little (cheap items with a crack here or a scratch there) so I'm not bothering to follow up. Just sad that they are damaged. My favorite wall hanging is scratched and has some kind of spots, I assume from water??, on it, and the saddest, my great grandmother's trunk now has a broken strap. The trunk does bother me because one of the guys picked it up by the leather straps and I specifically said "Please don't carry that by the straps. I don't think they'll hold. That was my great grandmother's trunk." The guy said that I'd have to take stuff out of it to make it lighter (no prob) but I didn't think he meant so that he COULD use the, literally century-old, leather straps; I thought he just meant in general and then BOTH guys, of the "two guys" would grab an end and carry it since it was obviously delicate (leather gets brittle after a century!). I didn't notice the broken strap until arranging the furniture the next day. At least the whole trunk wasn't busted so I guess that's something. And that brings me to the last thing, which again, isn't a huge deal but be prepared for it if you use this service - a few times I was told to change something that was packed/ready to go on the truck. Again, not that it was a true "problem" but after a couple times it was like 'are you guys movers or ??' An example: I was instructed that some kitchen jars in a 1'x1' box needed to be lightened because the jars might break. I had two of those boxes. I grabbed one up in each hand and walked them out to my car. So, while I understand they don't want to take responsibility for damages, it seems like they focus on the wrong things - century-old trunk = have both guys carry it; two one foot square boxes with some spices in jars = I think you can handle it. So: Fast above all else, friendly, were very nice about me changing the workload upon their arrival. Not careful with your belongings. Expect multiple damages. read more
