On 10/19/2021, Liz and Sara met with my 81 year old mother about clearing out my recently deceased brother's home. Per the contract, they would dispose, donate or consign the contents of his home. My brother was a hoarder, and his home was very overwhelming. The initial estimate was for $3570-$4590- plus an additional $600.00 for heavy lifting. My mother signed the contract, and they were scheduled to start at the beginning of December, 2021, Unfortunately, my mother became ill with covid and was hospitalized 10/30/21. I was working a new job, and was unable to meet with the gals when they showed up, but they called numerous times during the clean out. They were very cordial. It seemed as if all was going well. I did ask Liz for an inventory, she said she would get it. I never did receive one. They threw everything away! They only cosigned $150.00 in tools. There were more than $5000.00 worth of tools. He had an extensive vinyl collection, gone, he had at least 10 flat screen tv's, gone. And the cherry on top of it all.......the final bill was for a total of $7689.41. The nice ladies assessed a late charge, because mom passed away prior to paying them. I did not get access to funds until January. My bad. The thing that ticks me off more than anything is the initial estimate was off by $2499.40. That is criminal. Run don't walk to another organization. read more

Batsheva & Frannie were wonderful! From the time they first arrived they organized us and we truly could not have made this move without them. They were very efficient in completing tasks when they told us they would and were very professional and knowledgeable regarding resources which, as we downsized, would take our donations or come and take away those items no longer usable. They also facilitated cleaning groups to deep clean the house, windows, and carpets in the house we were moving from. They unpacked essential items for our first night and even made the beds. A skill that also proved very valuable was knowing the label information on boxed items and their location in our new house when we were trying to find TV cords and plugs when Comcast arrived!! They also sent a person back to pick up broken down moving boxes and newsprint used to wrap items so we didn't have to worry about disposal of those items. The handymen are wonderful! They completed the job in a timely fashion. Communication skills are great! I received an email each evening of the specific tasks that were performed. They informed me each day what time they were planning to arrive. They cleaned up at the end of each day. They are so professional and such a pleasure to work with. I'm so pleased with the aesthetics. They did a remodel of my family room which included crown molding, completed 2 pony walls, patched/sanded/painted walls. Replaced window frames and door trim. Added bead board to wall in laundry room. Tore out bookcases next to fireplace, added shiplap above the fireplace, and replaced the mantel. Added recess lights. My brother and I used the Betty Brigade services to clean out our family home after our parents died and we had taken all the belongings that we wanted. There was not much left for any sort of house sale, so the other service we contacted was not very interested in working with us. BB honored our wishes to focus on finding new homes for belongings as the priority, earning money on sales secondary, and recycling as much of the rest as humanly possible. They kept us well informed, found some items we had overlooked and sent them to us, found a home for our old piano and family china, and generally did a job in less than two weeks that would have taken us months. Their handyman unit also did a number of fixit jobs for us and noticed a few additional things that needed attention that we had missed. We moved from a big house to a small condo, and without the help of Betty Brigade, I could not have managed. They helped me decide what to get rid of, and then they took the discarded items to thrift shops, eBay, and the dump. They took care to recycle and find good homes for everything that could be useful to other people. Then, they packed many of our possessions in advance of the move and, after it, spent 2 days helping to unload and place things in our new abode. I cannot carry heavy items, so it was especially useful to have their help with that task. Linda did most of this work, and it was a pleasure to have her around. We are getting ready to sell our house and our realtor recommended the handy person services at Betty Brigade. We had a bunch of small projects that required more expertise than we had but it was so impossible to find a contractor willing to do it. They came out the next day for the estimate and the following week for the work. Everything looks amazing, the work was very thorough and exactly what we had hoped for. Also everyone was so friendly, Don and Jason kept me updated along the way. I only wished I had called them a few years ago instead of hoping we'd get around to all of the projects. I have used the Betty Brigade for over a year now. When I first got divorced, I used them for pet care during the day while I was at work. The dogs were always happy and when my older dog had accidents in the house, they cleaned up and never complained. Now I am using them for house checks while I am out of town. I have used the Betty Brigade to water my gardens when I am out of town for many years, and they always do a wonderful job! They skip any day when watering isn't necessary (such as a rainy day) and I am not charged. I receive a note after each visit and they have gone above and beyond at time, like putting the newspaper inside the door and taking advertising flyers off the doors. Betty Brigade did a great job, including a tricky task of rehanging a heavy french door that has eluded attempts by others to get it fixed. They did the assigned tasks quickly and well, and below the estimate -- even though they took on an added task of shuttling hinges between a sagging long cupboard door and a similar drawer with strong hinges.
