Then when they finally were able to manage to get the right the food it was gross, The fried rice was swimming in oil, it looked like dirty rice soup. Best Chinese food to me. Food was cooked and well seasoned. I will go here again. The brown rice wasn't hard and the Generous TSO Chicken was finger licking good. First things first... This restaurant is smack dab in the middle of Town & Country and for some odd reason it has a decorative helicopter on top of the building. Why? I have no clue. I went right before the "lunch rush" and had the General Tso's chicken. Honestly, it was not too bad but if you pour enough sauce on anything it will be tolerable. The actual meat were all perfectly round pieces of "chicken" that were FAR from high quality. The sweet and sour chicken was much the same way. A great Chinese restaurant with a helicopter on top. this business is in a non descriptive deteriorating mall and this is the higher of the area. There is a big seating area in front and the Chinese dishes are amazing and service super quick . I was amazed how many seasons go they delivered and despite its size this place was dead as covid likely has his places like this hard and it great that this place has survived covid and I imagine this is the best Chinese restaurant in the town read more

This is probably my new least favorite restaurant in the area since Honker's closed, where I found a dirty Band-Aid stuck to the bottom of my plate. (My bad though. What in the heck was I doing at HONKER'S anyway?) This was my first time here, which is weird since this place has inexplicably been in business forever, and I suspect some of the food they served us may have been around just as long. I ordered something-or-other and what I received was only vaguely suggested by the menu description. It was like a movie that is "based on a true story" but has very little to do with the true story at all. Still, I didn't complain. I am nothing if not agreeable, gentle reader, but the food itself was so incredibly bland that it was almost like eating nothing. You think I'm exaggerating, but I swear my dinner was prepared in a sauce comprised only of the salty tears of a spurned lover. (Okay, maybe there was a hint of garlic, but it was more like the ghost of a flavor than the thing itself.) Speaking of salty tears, you should see this sad place. We were the only people there. The silence and our conspicuous isolation made us feel like we were in a stage production of No Exit. To add to the oppressive atmosphere, the back half of the restaurant was veiled in darkness. I felt sad for the waitress--who might have also been the cook--and the bus boy--and the owner. She was the only sign of life we encountered in the place. I grew up eating their Cantonese noodle soup and have since moved to Chicago then LA. Still one of the best noodle soups in my opinion and the potstickers that come with it are unlike any other I've had! We eat here every so often, for the most part it is ok, I don't see how it stays in business, but they do. Place a bit dirty, but way better than old place! Food the other night was not the best, I had beef fried rice, wife had orange chicken. Mine Was ok, chicken was not that good! ( I tried it ) maybe should move into smaller place so could clean it up & make the food good again!! Very disappointed in the lack of pork in my pork egg fu yung. None. Without any flavor as well. Recommend they add sautéed onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and kick that flavor up a bit. They would bring more customers back with high flavor. Not inexpensive either for lunch. $8.25. Only 1 Patty. Very unusual for egg fu yung. Pricewise, on the high end for Chinese fast-food lunch specials in view of quality. It looked good when they served it. Wait person did not serve water with the meal. Had to ask 15 minutes into it. I have feedback to the cashier when I left about the meatless pork egg fu yung She did not believe me. She said, @Yes! Barbecue pork!@. I said there wasn't any. She said @Yes! Barbecue pork! We always get Hi-Ho for take-out. It is honestly the BEST fried rice I've ever had! I usually get noodles because I'm not a fried rice fan. My sister accidentally ordered me rice once... and I was so glad for that happy accident! Everything we've ever ordered from here has been delicious. We used to love their food and prices were reasonable. We went there last night and the food was horrible. I ordered a couple chicken dishes and the chicken was more breading than it was chicken and drowning in sauce. We also order a couple beef dishes that were more sauce than beef and vegetables. The sauce was also kind of gelatinous. The potstickers were burnt and crammed into a small takeout box so by the time I got them home they were soggy and cold. My 4 year old loves chow mein and so we ordered two things of it and realized when we got it home in small print it says with fried noodles. All around I was very dissatisfied with their food. I used to like Hi Ho quite a bit, but after my most recent visit I kind of felt like I wasn't getting what I was paying for anymore. It seemed like they were using a different recipe for the chicken fried rice and the shrimp lo mein only had a few shrimp on top. I also didn't receive any white rice, which I wasn't sure if they don't include anymore or if they just left it out. For $24 it was a lot of money for not a ton of quality. read more

The food from Hi Ho was just fine. It was my first time eating their food and I would do so again (although please throw a little more sesame on the sesame chicken...sprinkling a few sesame seeds on what is essentially a derivative of orange chicken is not what I was hoping for, but it was still tasty). My issue is more with Yelp offering delivery service which on the surface sounds great! ...I ordered the food at 3:40pm and got a call from Dine In (third party delivery service that Yelp uses that is not disclosed at the time of order) at 4:05pm saying they had just gotten the order after a 25 minute delay and that the delivery time was estimated for 5:30pm. Obviously if I knew when ordering that it would be almost 2 hours before eating, I never would've ordered, prepaid with a credit card and left a gratuity in advance. That being the case, I had no choice but to agree. To Dine In's credit, they had it to my house by 5pm. My point is Yelp should offer full disclosure on wait time and who is doing the delivering (Dine In offers the same service w/o the middleman which they were happy to explain to me when I balked about the wait time). Please explain why there is over a 20 minute delay in the delivery service and presumably the restaurant purportedly getting the order from Yelp, and offer some kind of recourse if a 1.5 to 2 hour wait time is out of the question. read more

Tasted like dog food. Orange chicken and general Tso's chicken looked the same. The chicken looked and smelled little marble sized balls of camel droppings. Worst Chinese food I've ever had and I've been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants all over the country. Food tastes like it was freezer burned. Sauces were bland. I've never been disappointed by Chinese food, until now. I ordered the General tso chicken. It basically tasted like chicken nuggets soaked in sauce. The chicken was so soggy and the flavor was overwhelming. I took two bites and that's all I could bear. The egg drop soup wasn't really a broth base, but instead extremely creamy, which I thought was weird. The fried rice tasted premade and even looks it. Immediately after eating it: It was ok. I used to live in Phoenix and had a place that I would drive way out of my way to get take out, because it was authentic and amazingly flavor-able. This place was not up to their standard. Most of it was very bland. The egg fu young was good except for the gravy they put on it. It was a light brown gravy that looked like it was out of a can. I've never seen any Chinese sauces look quite like it. The orange chicken was below par. My old place made their own sauce from scratch and you could taste the fresh orange. This was less than Panda Express. I spent a lot of money and it honestly wasn't worth it. I had high hopes, but have to move to the next Following morning I removed 2 stars, because I woke up and had to run to the bathroom where I sat for 30 minutes. The rest of the family had the same problem. Avoid this place, the people who say it's 5 stars are probably family members. read more

The most disgusting chinese food I have EVER tasted. Actually, you can't really taste their general tso's..it's just a blan rubbery mush. The skin overwhelms- there is barely any chicken... At most chinese places this isn't a problem..the tasty sauce and crispy bake adds a good flavor! Here...the skin is soggy, mushy, and the chicken is rubbery. I just can't get past the skin of this general tso's chicken, it is rubbery squishy stretchy mush!!! I have never had General Tso's that was THIS disgusting before in my entire life! I joined yelp solely to write this review...I couldn't take it anymore! My parents decided to surprise me on my birthday by ordering me food and having it delivered. This summer my sister and I ate here, but I missed this Yelp page and ended up making another for the same restaurant. I have repeated my review of this restaurant on this page now. I don't eat out a lot, but my sister and I were in South Bend for a day of shopping, and we were starving. So we stopped at a handy restaurant, Hi Ho Chop Suey. That made my mouth water, so we got the lunch special, chop suey. The chop suey was quite tasty, the egg roll was pretty much what you'd expect, the egg foo young that came with it was fresh and delicious, and the tea was the best! A thoroughly enjoyable meal! We ate, and then ordered more tea and drank it up. Very good oolong tea there. If I were not hungry, I would go there and tip the waitress simply to bring us tea. BUT IT GETS BETTER! Next time we are in South Bend shopping and get hungry, we gotta stop back at Hi Ho for more food and tea. This time they had their Roast Duck and Cantonese Noodle Soup on lunch special. They claimed it was good. THEY WERE RIGHT! BEST SOUP EVER! It is $7.95 when not on special, but worth it! I can't wait for my next shopping trip to South Bend for another taste! The duck is roasted, but then it is batter-fried and cut into slices and put across the top of the soup. Oh my! So good! You cannot loose with this if you love duck. Some people might be put off by the ambiance. It looks like it hasn't been redone in decades. But who cares? Good food and good tea. Love it! read more

So one day I wanted Chinese take away, and this was the closest spot!! Very bad experience. Unplowed parking lot(this was in the winter), and I had to wait like 20 minutes for simple General Tso's Chicken. I couldn't believe how long it took to make it, and then how POOR it was!! Chicken cubes wrapped in some breading with general tso sauce...it was just awful. The WORST Chinese I have ever had in my life, it was horrible especially since I waited so long to get my meal!!
