Ichiban is my favorite place to order Chinese food!! I absolutely love their vegetable lo mein and their coconut shrimp. They also have wonderful sweet and sour chicken and beef & broccoli. The noodles are my favorite. I have also had sushi from here before that is overall good for an Indiana restaurant. The driver waited 15 minutes and then after the 15 minutes they told him 20 minutes more. The driver had to leave. We were unable to cancel the order. I love the chopsticks! The Godzilla roll (accidentally wrote dragon earlier) was decent but had some weird taste that I believe was the crabmeat part . General Tso... sweet no heat. I ordered delivery from Uber Eats and got a nice warm meal in a timely matter. Because I have never been there and it looks sketchy from the outside, I ordered accordingly. I know that many reviews say that they are a great place, so I trusted my Yelp friends. I Ordered the spicy tuna as a safe test of their sushi knowing that it is one of the fastest movers. I also ordered the good old standby of General Tso's chicken under the name of Dragon Phoenix because it also came with Sesame Shrimp Sorry to all the fans of their sushi but nope. The Spicy tuna was mostly tempura flakes and had about as much tuna in it as a Crab Rangoon has crab. The sushi (rice) was not a good sushi grade rice and the seasoning, if any, was flavorless. As far as the Dragon Phoenix: The Generals was very sweet and there was no heat at all. Not a pepper to be found, or picked around (I am going to assume that this is not a New York style Chinese restaurant). The sesame shrimp was tempura battered and lightly coated with a sauce. Both the Chicken and the shrimp breading tasted stale. The texture in the chew felt and tasted like it was precooked quite a while ago and had too quick of a reheat. Pretty pricey for South Bend but some of the better Chinese food in the area. According to my Chinese friends the flavor is not authentic but the taste is still ok. I like their spicy dishes more than their non-spicy ones, and I don't recommend ordering non-Sichuan Chinese dishes here. On my first visit here the restaurant was empty and on my second there were two other large parties. There was a noticeable drop in quality during the second visit (and the service was extremely slow, as there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant). Most of the dishes I've tried here have been pretty OK - not great but not horrible. The only one I would recommend above the others is the mapo tofu. In approximate order of most to least liked, I've tried: -Mapo tofu ($9.95) - soft tofu with Sichuan peppercorn powder. This contains beef. -Baby bok choy w. dry mushrooms ($9.95) - nothing mind-blowing but pretty good and fresh. The sauce is a bit sweet. -Ichiban's famous chicken ($18.95) - weird translation for big plate chicken (大盘鸡). The portion larger than other dishes (about 2 dishes' worth of food) but nothing too huge, and it comes with potatoes, bell peppers, and noodles underneath. -Boiled fish fillet Szechuan sauce (extra spicy) ($15.95) - the sauce is good, but the fish fillet quality was not the best. The serving isn't that much because there's a lot of Napa cabbage underneath. -Steamed whole yellow fish - slightly greasy, the sauce was too sweet, and the fish quality wasn't great. However, the overall flavor wasn't bad. -Spicy hot pot (extra spicy) ($18.95) - contains beef, fish, potato, napa cabbage, squid, shrimp, spam, mushroom, and glass noodles. Pretty ok, kind of salty. The fish quality isn't great. -Cumin lamb ($15.95) - it's ok, the meat is kind of fatty and pretty gamey. -Sour pickle fish fillet ($15.95) - it's ok, just a lot of fish. -Hongshao ribs ($13.95) - these are not hongshao but instead are just riblets cooked in a slightly sweet sauce with some veggies. GET THE CHINESE MENU. Pure mouth numbing schezuan cuisine here. The dry hot pot is so yummy a tad salty but omg so addicting. They have top notch Mapo tofu and this is the real way how it is made. I am happy there is a place with genuine flavor and not just customized to the "American" taste. If you are adventurous try it out. Authentic Schezuan/Sichuan food is spicy but also numbs your mouth! It may take some time to get use to that weird feeling in your mouth. But I think the more you try the less it gets! The presentation of food is nice too and adds some culture! Came in for lunch on a Monday before leaving to catch a flight. Service was prompt and I ordered the spider roll, which came with eel sauce. Usually I don't like eel sauce, but this was very good and fresh. The roll came with 8 large pieces and I took half on the plane with me. A couple dollars more expensive than what I'm used to for a specialty roll, but still very good. They have a 2 for $22 special if you hungrier. read more

Further, these are her exact words: "I read out the order to you, and you didn't correct me." Thus, she blamed her customer for HER mistake and REFUSED to own up to it. -Further, she did not give in, was yelling at my friend on the phone (who ordered delivery), and even hung up on us at one point. Even when we asked her to show us the recording of us saying the order wrong, she told us we have to come in to the store to hear it. How disrespectful and rude. (would have been easily 4 1/2 without the chicken dish) it offers 3 menus 1. chinese 2. japanese 3. authentic chinese. we opted to order from the authentic chinese menu. ordered: ordered: 1. hongshao spare ribs, 2. sauteed string beans, 3. sweet and sour fried whole fish (came out as baby bok choy with dry mushroom - ended up being the dish we both like best, so great accident) 4. chicken with chili peppers. we requested this dish without the sechuan peppercorn. we found the chicken being not fresh. as if it has been thawed more than 2 times. it was brined and infused with tons of authentic flavors. we will omit this dish next time for sure) since we liked the other 3 dishes a lot, we are curious to try their japanese and regular chinese menu on our next visit. have a to go chinese place in south bend now. quite a happy discovery. read more

I am always beyond impressed with Ichiban. Whenever I order takeout Ichiban always comes to mind. They pack their food well and give generous portion sizes. The food is definitely worth the price. I really recommend the orange chicken and most of all the cheese wontons (crab Rangoon) I crave these all the time. They are my all time favorite thing to eat, but only from Ichiban. I've tried them at many other eating establishments and they never measure up to the ones from Ichiban. I really want to note the great experience for takeout. Very good. Establishment is clean and the staff is friendly. I've only ordered from the Chinese menu, but my boyfriend usually orders from the Chinese-American menu. He loves the coconut shrimp. Was I wrong my wife and I ordered 4 different dishes and 3 out of the 4 we're horrible to the point my wife and I didn't even eat ours and the only reason our daughter ate hers is because she was starving!
