It was more than I expected, but I don't know much about car repairs, so I trusted their pricing. The AC was fixed and has worked well. Today's experience unfortunately made me question that trust. I needed a brake light bulb replaced. I had already removed the rear panel and screws myself and gotten almost all the way there--I just couldn't get the light assembly to pull free. I was quoted $160 to replace the bulb, and the amount of work involved was presented to me as though it were a complicated repair. I declined and went to Jiffy Lube. They replaced the bulb for $10.99. I completely understand that an independent mechanic has different labor rates and overhead, and I wasn't expecting them to charge $10.99. But $160 versus $10.99 for the same minor repair is a difference I simply can't reconcile. What bothers me most is that I was a returning customer who had already spent $2,294.89 here just six months earlier. This experience has now made me question whether the pricing on my previous repair was fair, too. A relationship with a mechanic depends on trust, and unfortunately this experience lost mine.

He hopped in the car and drove 1 yard, immediately told me what he thought it was, and warned me to avoid driving the rest of the weekend as grinding the wheel in extreme heat was risky. He said to come back first thing Monday morning to get it lifted up and properly examined. Came back Monday and the team figured out I needed to replace the caliper and brakes. Price was fair and they said they could do it same day within 3 hours, so I let them work on it and had them do an oil change as well. I'm very grateful for Brian and his team, taking the time to explain what was actually needed and why, and not overselling me on additional services. Brian estimated that he could have my car fixed within a few days. The whole job took one week because he found other significant damage in the interior of my car which I didn't know about. Overall he communicated well, asked if I wanted to fix everything and had such a positive attitude. Also they do excellent work for a reasonable price. I almost wanted to keep this gem to myself but the world (or Silver Spring) needs to know where to go for superior auto care whether mechanical or auto body. They also cleaned the interior of my car. I don't want to come back for anything other than oil changes but if I need a job done in the future, I know where to go. He used his bare hands and forced the headlight into position instead of using gloves and removing three 10mm fasteners. The nearly new perfectly functioning headlight burned out the next day. I went back and asked to borrow a ratchet to do the job properly and he refused. Took me 5 minutes to do the job correctly at autozone. F@#k you Jorge. Seriously. All these mechanics seem like saints compared to dealers. Cheap prices (relative to dealers) are great and all but a mechanic who does poor work is worthless.
