called AAA for a dead battery who sent this shop. had car towed in got shocking estimate and laundry list of other repairs for my 100k mile car and estimates that included $175.00 for a "diagnosis" for a check engine light that the local parts store does for free. seems to me $1,000 battery and starter might oughta include a courtesy check engine light test? we won't be back now that I've read the numerous negative comments here. read more

Called Lexus Roadside assist bc battery was too weak to start car. Tech showed up, asked condescending question then got all emotional and upset when called out for it. Left without charging car. Was at my location for 5 minutes. Left customer in critically cold weather, meaning temperatures were life threatening. I had safe place to be, but very unprofessional. read more

Service was below -3, the absolute worst ever! AAA Battery Service Center Northeast set Hi Tech Autoservice Center person out to help me with my battery on Saturday - A Petter M showed up acting very strange. My AAA battery was sold to me on 4/2022. I told him my mechanic told me the AAA battery is no good. His meter was yellow and told me that AAA needs a letter that states the battery was charge for at least 2 hours. I went back to my mechanic on Saturday and charge the battery for over 2 hour, it failed. Monday I call AAA battery replacement the same rude guy came out, he did not remember our Saturday meeting. This time the name was Charles on the mobile ticket. He tested the battery. He started yielding that his boss can not replace the battery unless his test are in red. I asked him why he wasted my time on Saturday getting a letter that the battery was charge for over 2 hours and still not working from my mechanic, how that was a waste of my time. He rudely got in his truck and said everyone wants a free battery! Slam his truck back doors and speed out of my drive way. He is a short guy with lots of tattoos, I told him if he does not want to do his job other folks would be happy to serve customers correctly. This person should not have a job dealing with humans. I am reporting him to AAA northeast and also the Hi Tech. I never want this person on my property again. read more

my son broke down on Route 23, I called Pete if Hi-Tech Auto for a tow and he came immediately during morning rush hour. Fast, courteous service. Also, Hi-Tech diagnosed the issue and had my son's vehicle repaired and back to him quickly. I highly recommend everyone at Hi-Tech. Their price was very reasonable also! read more

My truck had a few lights that needed to be wired, headlights to be fixed, light bar installed and a windshield fluid sprayer nozzle repaired. This company is amazing. Not only did they repair and hookup the aforementioned but they were also very observant with all the parts and repairs as well as very communicative to me. Not once did i question this mechanic. The price isn't expensive and 100% worth every penny. Definitely recommended to anyone who needs any work done to their vehicle and will definitely be coming back. read more

Hi-Tech should be called "Hi-Price." They send a tow truck to pick up my car and the guy driving it tells me "take it to my guys, you don't want to go to the Lukoil on Ringwood Ave, they charge too much." So I get the estimate: a new starter is quoted at $678. I speak to the guys I know at the Lukoil on Ringwood and they can do it for $414 including tax. First, not sure where the guy driving the tow truck gets off doing that, rather audacious. Secondly, why should I be putting $264 more into your pocket? They were astonished when I decided to have another tow truck come to move the car back to the Lukoil. Would never consider these folks ever again, unless I was interested in being swindled. read more

The owner Mike seems like a nice guy but gave me the run around big time when I asked them to pay for the repair. I have been to Hi-Tech for both of our vehicles and they have been outstanding! Brandon is the mechanic we've had both times and is awesome! He's honest, walks you through what's wrong with your car and his estimates are spot on. What he says it will cost is what you pay or usually a little cheaper. I've never been surprised at the end with a much higher price. This summer, I had an issue with my 2010 Nissan Sentra. Another mechanic had told me it was the compressor that was causing the a/c not to work. I thought that was crazy since the car is not that old. I was recommended to Hi-Tech. I called them up around 4:15 pm and they said to come over and they would take a look at it. I got there around 4:30 pm. Brandon stayed till about 7 pm accessing the car, going through every possible scenario of what could be wrong with it, he explained what he was looking at in the car, etc. It did end up being the compressor. Hi-Tech was hundreds cheaper than the other mechanic. Very recently, my husband's car needed a new alternator, battery and some other maintenance. My husband wanted to go to another mechanic, but I insisted we go to Hi-Tech, because of my prior positive experience with them. They are very honest, attentive and easy to work with. We will be coming here for all of our future car service needs. read more

Been visiting Hi-Tech for years - bringing both my and my parents vehicles here. Whether its been troubleshooting a intermittent engine light on my parents Honda Pilot, to diagnosing vacuum and leaks on my Audi S4 - Mike has been a pleasure to work with. When its an issue too much for this home-mechanic (who is an engineer), I have no hesitation taking it to them. Mike always gives real-time feedback on what his preliminary thoughts on the issue are, and gives updates as he starts digging and and finding other hidden headaches. All Mike's suggestions for fixes are realistic, as he listens to what work has been previously done and not the cookie-cutter "let's rebuild the transmission" or "you have to replace all these expensive European electronics, and hopefully one of them was the culprit". All in all, I've been a fan since the first time I worked with Mike when I was in over my head - and remain a fan after all the other times since. read more

I regret ever bringing my van towed to this shop, but thats how they get customers they can scam. I payed $4,700 for a shitty rebuilt transmission, brought it back twice and both times they denied that it was under warranty. They did repair a trans fluid leak but in the process caused another one and refused to fix it. I drove my van in working fine and it left there in worse shape. I am now paying $5,000 to get an entirely new transmission because they have fucked this one up so badly. The new mechanic said they did a shit job sealing the leak just looking at it. For the money I spent on that rebuild, I could have had a new transmission. I tried selling it but no one wants a vehicle with a messed up transmission. This is my work vehicle and the expense has put my business into the red. They ruined my van and my finances. Granted, they outsourced the trans to another mechanic but the way they handled me as a customer was terrible. They flat out lied about the problem, saying I was just low on trans fluid and thats what was causing the problem. They think I am dumb because I am a woman but I know an electrical issues when I see one. I came back with diagnostics from the dealership and they still denied me service, then I got the dealer to call them and back up what I was saying, since they couldn't lie about that any more then they just said that one part isnt covered under the warranty. I never got a written warranty so I was out of luck there. When I brought it back for the third time, they procastinated for 2 months, they avoided my calls, hung up on me, told me that they where doing me a favor and actually lost track of where my van was at one point (its a 10' tall 13 passenger van). They are dishonest, disorganized and don't give a shit about their customers. read more

I bought a used van off their lot and forgot to get a receipt. Later when the van failed inspection I brought it back to them to inspect and asked for that sales receipt, nope, wouldn't give it. Why?? Hmmm Then the owner made me do all the work on my van and if "he was satisfied" would give me the inspection sticker. Had to change both front tires in 92 degree heat. He sold me one of them-- 2 hours later tire wouldn't hold air. We trusted that the vehicle was safe on his lot and left for a short while to get pizza. We got back, the garage owner basically overlooked other problems with the van, charged me 100 bucks and slapped the sticker on the van. We drove away. When I got back home we opened the van to take belongings out and realized then that 4 expensive power tools were missing-- a drill, a saw, a jigsaw and a hand saw. Thieves. Don't take your car here unless you want to get scammed, robbed or ripped off.... read more

I recently had my car break down. I got an estimate from a nearby ( wayne, area ) service station. They gave me a list of things I "needed" to get done that they considered "safety" issues for my car. I decided, since it seemed high to get one more estimate. I brought my vehicle and estimate I received to Hi-Tech Auto Service and was surprised to hear that most did not need to be done immediately and/or were certainly NOT "safety" issues. Their honesty and estimate for the same parts and labor were considerably lower and they saved me hundreds on fixing things that did not need to be fixed. My car needed a tow. I called prior to delivery for maximum cost for the repair estimate. The next day the estimate was much higher. Had it repaired because a tow to a different garage would be costly. After I left noticed they damaged an adjacent part and refused to repair. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Just brought my 1992 Saturn SL2 for a diagnostic and a repair to pass through inspection and turn off my engine light. Let me tell you what a great experience I had. Mike the owner gave me an honest answer about pricing. He said he isn't going to give me a price because he doesn't know what the cost is going to be it could be less or it could be more than what I thought. I respected that answer because it was given with honest professionalism. He told me to bring it Thursday I replied that I needed it done as soon as possible. He said bring it tomorrow. So I preceded to do so and brought it in the next day. When I got my car back after leaving it there for the day, my car felt as if it were brand new. It idles well now and gave the engine new life and the original kick it had when it was running well previously. You can feel the power restored back to the engine. He did it for a reasonable price as well as inspection included. I went to another mechanic shop and he wanted to charge me the same price just for the inspection sticker. I don't know about other consumers but getting your car running properly is more important to me primarily than just getting the inspection done. The mechanic said it would cost me 1000+ just to get fixed. He said he would put my car through inspection but you're still going to have the engine light. I was very quickly turned off by his approach. Hi-tech is the first shop I've been too other then my regular mechanic who wanted nothing to do with my vehicle. I appreciated the professionalism Mike and his team displayed. As well as getting my car operational to like-new performance. I am now saving more gas as well as loving the feel of my vehicle again. I recommend Hi-Tech to anyone who has had a bad experience with another mechanic and wants the feeling back of a job done right with a reasonable price behind it. read more
