I'd like to share my experience as a victim of a minor hit-and-run accident in Miami. While the…read moreaccident itself wasn't major, the way the Miami Police Department handled it was deeply troubling. Even though the incident occurred at a well-monitored intersection with a 360-degree city camera, police were uncooperative and dismissive. I tried to file a supplemental report and update my case information but was repeatedly misled by staff -- told to come in person only to be handed a phone number to call. When I followed their advice and visited other Miami police stations, they all redirected me back to the central department, which ultimately refused to assist at all. I was never contacted by a detective, and though one internal investigator did call me and take my statement over the phone (promising to email the report), I never heard back. I also attempted to obtain the traffic camera footage, only to discover that neither Miami-Dade County nor FDOT would release it, claiming the cameras are only for real-time monitoring. I received nothing but generic, copy-paste responses. The entire process was disorganized, unaccountable, and handled with arrogance. As I arrived at the downtown station, I even saw a police car illegally parked in the left turn lane -- a fitting symbol for how rules are enforced (or not) in the city. My case may seem small, but how we handle minor incidents says a lot about how the system functions overall. Neglect today encourages escalation tomorrow. Miami deserves better.

Ok so it doesn't have the bright and airy feel like we saw in the police station in Bad Boys 2…read more Instead of "grape soda and chicken wings" some of the officers enjoyed pastelitos. I don't know if they have a basketball court like in the original "Bad Boys" (which was filmed in the actual Miami Civil Courthouse). But I did run into the officers on the social media unit who had noticed sone of my insta posts. The building itself features the modular look and heavy concrete highlights of the brutalist architecture, a typical design of institutional and governmental buildings. The inside is a regular office building with conference rooms and department offices. As far as fingerprinting, I went through the metal detector and photographed for a visitor pass. I then went to cashier; paid $10 in cash and waited for the officer. Pleasant but functional, he took my License, filled in the form, and inked my hands to mark up the professional license application. How did I get hands clean? They have industrial strength degreaser and towels to clean up after. I was given the form and off I went. I could ding a star because I had to get print the form and that it's all cash but everyone at the station was courteous and helpful.

He manhandled and slammed our son on his face while handcuffed. He got mad because our son didn't recognize him as a cop and didn't understand what was happening or why he was being arrested; this officer was wearing a K9 uniform with a jacket and a cap, called him from behind from about a block away in the dark, didn't identify as an officer and had no RAS to detain him in the first place. A call from an incompetent new security guard from Regions Security Services that had been working in this condominium for just 4 days saying there were some kids walking around, that had told him they live here but he didn't believe them, is not RAS. It was a non-emergency call with no crime reported and all this officer saw when he got here was a young man walking, but proceeded to attack and arrest him within seconds of making contact with him. City of Doral and Doral PD have seen the videos and all the evidence of the wrongful arrest, the use of excessive force and all the lies, and as of today December 26,2023 they still haven't done anything about this abusive cop. We lived in The Courts at Doral for over 20 years, our son was just walking outside. Doral Police Department concluded their Internal Affairs Investigation and determined this was not excessive force. They said the officer just GUIDED / REDIRECTED our son to the ground... with those exact words. We used to back the blue, but you should know that if one of their officers wrongs you, they will not have your back. These videos can provide a summary of what happened to our son in Doral, Florida. https://youtu.be/NxSfzmHx-AQ?si=Iyn7RmPZwXmkEHju https://youtu.be/eD_445P9Frg?si=7V2BsAaYVoUUX7ZN https://youtu.be/5ARBl48e7tE?si=qcM0T0pIokKfQo6F

The cameras capture still images and video of red-light running violations with an 80 percent accuracy. The fine for running a red light under the Red Light Safety Program is $125. The notice I read accused the violator of going 80 miles per hour on Biscayne. Frankly, I'm a bit shocked since I seriously doubt that one could accelerate that fast, especially at the time of the ticket. Nevertheless, the cost to the consumer to fight this makes it difficult to do so. To further complicate this issue, in Feb. 2010, a Miami-Dade County Circuit Court judge ruled that red light cameras may not be legally used to issue traffic citations in the state of Florida. The City of Aventura is appealing that decision. I really think too many people run red lights in South Florida. That said, I would like to see a state-wide effort to enforce this infraction. It would also be great to see an accuracy rate greater than 80 percent. Here are the Locations below. Biscayne Boulevard (US1) and NE 151 Street Camera is live. Citation period began Wednesday, July 22, 2009. NE 6 Avenue and NE 135 Street Camera is live. Citation period began Monday, September 22, 2009.
