I went in asking for a specific balayage in cool tones for my brown hair and walked out with.. red hair and possibly some highlights (after paying $200 too!) The colorist, Jordana, made excuses of course but wow, terrible job. I like to think that I am low maintenance and rarely leave reviews but this is a terrible place. Expensive and terrible. Do not spend any time or money here. UPDATE: Owner called and refused to refund for services. She made excuses for the colorist and claimed I was told what to expect. I was not told I would walk out without a balayage and with red hair. I truly believe that if another method (foils, etc.) was the way to obtain my desired look, I should have been informed as I am not the hair expert. Very disappointing. SECOND UPDATE: Owner keeps updating his comments to my review and is now lying about what the stylist allegedly said. DO NOT VISIT AVANT GARDE. The photo of the end result that I posted says it all. No salon would take your money for an"balayage" and leave your hair like this. I was NEVER told I would have "red undertones" and when I was offered a glaze, I was not told I would have red hair unless I got a glaze. In fact, Jordan's stated that the toner should do the job and I could always come back a few weeks later for a glaze. INCREDIBLE!

This salon is very rude to the clients, bad experience i never had in any salon before…read more Milli was reccommended to me to get my hair done with, but since she is always busy, she passed me to her husband, saying he is a great colorist which was not exactly the case. Izzy is a nice older guy, but he does not know how to do highlight good for sure. He needs more practise. The problem was with his work, the highlight was not starting from my roots. I had to asked him to redo it. My hair freshly looked like it was done 3-4 months prior, which is very wrong. Also the low light was not giving me the dimension i asked for, so he added some darker brown to my color as well, over again when i went back couple days later. After i was happy with the result. Couple months later when i went to see him again, to do my color, turned out, he did not have a note on what colour he used on me earlier, which did not make me happy. Unfortunately, my worry came true. The same exact thing happened. My highlight was starting low compare to the root, and the low light was not deep dark enough, just like for the first time. When i told him the highlight is not good, he fixed that right on spot. Later looking at my hair at home from the back, noticed my low light is not as dark as i asked him to do it. I messaged his wife about it. i got no answer for a few days, but the salon called me later on and left a voicemail, saying i can get a refund, he is not going to redo it. I messaged him, i do not want refund, as it is not bad, it is just not what i like and not what i asked for. Told themin my text, i would not see him any more and would like Milli, his wife, to do my hair in the future , as i m sure it is with a reason she is so busy. A month later, the salon called me they do not want me as a customer any more. I do not understand this, as i knew already with Izzy, we are not a good fit from my past experience. Good question, why is that, not even Milli would not wanna see me, this is very rude treatment which i did not deserve... I have no time for a hair stylist to do my color two-3 times over again just because he does not know how to do the color right on a demanding way. So i m the one being upset, as i do not have time for this! On top of all even my hair trim ended up being bad i was just told by friends it is not even and some pieces r longer than others.. I wish i had asked for a refund afterall.. the guy i m not satisfied with at all, not good job. He needs a lot more practise. So your welcome! Seems like the wife is just rude, defending her husband.
