This is my go to hibachi buffet whenever I'm in Durham. The chef cooks my order just the way I like it-well done with not too much sauce when I ask. One small regret is that they have no eggs on the bar to add to it. The buffet is always well stocked any time you visit, including the sushi bar. I loved to pick and choose on round three after my cooked hibachi (a plate of sushi and the hibachi are rounds one and two!). Then to the dessert bar with a trip to the ice cream freezer, which offers all the favorite flavors. Soda choices could be better but they did a great job of the sweet/unsweet tea mix. The people who gave this spot bad reviews are out of their minds. You can tell a lot about a buffet based off of how clean their bathrooms are. And what I tell you this spot was SPOTLESS!! Came here on a Tuesday and there were a decent amount of people there. I prefer crawfish so I asked the owner to make me some more since they were out because we came a little later. He obliged and had them coming until we left. Everything they had were subpar but by no means they were cold or would have caused you to get sick. A buffet like this, you tend to eat the food that you see coming out and rather the ones that you see that has been sitting there. Their mechanism that was used to keep the food warm worked well, as there was nothing I had that was cold. Is this the best buffet I have ever had? "Big new buffet/ sushi/ hibachi in Durham" This place has been "coming" for so long that, no joke, the first set of Coupon Clipper coupons for it expired before the restaurant opened. This used to be a really awful Chinese buffet many years ago (Panda Inn), but this revision is pretty good. I compare it to Durham's "China Buffet" mile-long-buffet, given the obvious resemblance and close proximity. Along with buffet food (discussed below), they have a sushi section and a hibachi section. In the latter, you prepare a plate of food with meat (your choice of steak, chicken, shrimp, & imitation crab meat) and vegetables, and they saute it for you with sauces: a bigger selection than China Buffet's. The sushi was very basic- moreso than China Buffet- and didn't look quite as fresh. You're better off hitting the Target or grocery store counter if you're looking for sushi. On the Chinese food front, the usual stuff: sweet & sour chicken, spring rolls, chicken broccoli, hibachi chicken, sesame chicken, fried rice, dumplings, edamame, black pepper shrimp, and much more. The usual soups, too, like hot & sour, wonton, etc. Pretty comparable to China Buffet, though visibly lacking cooked vegetable dishes (e.g., I didn't see anything with tofu). They had a salad bar, but again minimal on vegetables and some items didn't look especially fresh. The fruits were pretty good, though (pineapple, melons, grapes, etc.). However, on the plus, they had a surprisingly large non-Chinese food selection: fried plantains, buffalo wings, fried squid, stuffed potatoes, coconut chicken (VERY good), boiled crawfish (!), mussels, spare ribs, fried jalapenos, macaroni & cheese, pizza, mashed potatoes & gravy, and much more. They also had an better dessert selection than China Buffet: multiple cakes, jello flavors, and EIGHT flavors of ice cream (moose tracks, cookies & cream, etc.) Service was very attentive- quick refills on drinks, removal of used plates, etc. Price was reasonable: $8.99 for adults, and less for kids 10 and under- overall, less expensive than China Buffet. Overall, pros and cons relative to China Buffet, which I also like a lot. My wife suggested it would be an ideal place to go if some people wanted Chinese food but others wanted something else more like Golden Corral. This has to be one of my worst experiences with a buffet. I do want to say the service was good, attentive and quickly cleaning tables. But the Place feels icky and smells dirty. Meh. Your usual chinese buffet where you can fill up on your standard chinese food at a very cheap cost. Overall, the place feels kinda icky- but that's pretty much the norm for all buffets now. Some foods were hot and others were cold- again, like most buffets. The salt and pepper shrimp was pretty good as well as the soft shell crabs, while others like the dumplings and fried foods were cold and bland. The sushi are like sushi bites- very small and not worth your fork. The meal was going pretty decent until I got to the end- I found a piece of saran wrap in my fruit!!! Now I know I shouldn't really even being getting fruit at a buffet, but finding the saran wrap made rethink about all the food I ate. Not bad, has pros and cons compared to China Buffet which is nearby as well. Overall, good standard buffet fare and hibachi, but lacking in the sushi department. Some of my favorites during my first visit here: corn nuggets, egg tarts, a yummy sponge/cheesecake, pork chops w/ a nice bbq-like sauce, and excellent fried rice. Con is the very limited sushi section of the buffet - mostly plain and cheap sushi, but the fried sushi and tuna/avocado rolls were good. Okay I've been here enough to finally write a review. I will say that despite the 4 star rating the typical Asian cuisine was just okay. Edible but a lot of it was mediocre. The four star is mainly for the cleanliness, customer service, variety and the SEAFOOD. The crab, crawfish and shrimp/prawns are really really good (calamari okay). And considering it's a buffet meaning all you can eat it's just a great deal. The prices are fair. As far as variety there are plenty of options on the bars, even pizza, mac n cheese, chicken nuggets, fries and bread for my little ones. They have soup and a salad bar as well as some cold seafood options. There is also fresh fruit. Of course they have hibachi and that is where you can customize your order if the typical buffet food isn't doin it for ya. I never get sushi from buffets, it's always a road to disappointment. I tried it for the sake of trying and yep...... nope. Never again. It's just not good sushi but it's what I expect from buffets so no harm no foul. The desserts are just okay as well but the Chinese donuts are ALWAYS perfect (not on the dessert bar). They are always warm with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Actually all the food is always warm/hot and fresh. I've never been disappointed in that regards. Some items I really like and others not so much but that's the buffet life. I mean the seafood here will keep me coming back. I don't know how they season this stuff but the flavor is so unique. It's not your old bay calabash flavor, just their own touch and I love it lol. Customer service is always good. They clear the tables promptly and our drinks never even get half gone before the refill. There is constantly someone walking around sweeping the floors as well. I generally don't go for buffets but when I have my children with me it's always the best bet. No one wants to hear a billion times "wheeennn is my food coming, I'm hungry, is that mine?" So this buffet is our go to because it has something for their kiddy taste buds and my adult ones as well. I don't feel like I have to compromise/settle when I come here. I came here on a whim with some friends. We were originally going to go to Thai China Buffet but I wasn't sure if they were open since it was Memorial Day and they were not answering their phones. Food: 3 out of 5 The food selection was very large. Some of the items were labeled as dinner items so I'm assuming that those items only come out during dinner. However, some dishes were mislabelled so it was hard to tell what it really was and I didn't feel like asking. This would be a big problem for those who have allergies. The lo mein tasted like it had been sitting in the dish for a long time and the noodles were very choppy and short. The sweet and sour chicken also tasted like it had been out there for a while. Some of the items were either lukewarm or hot. They had a lot of American dishes such as chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and yeast rolls. These dishes probably cater to little children and they were surprisingly cooked pretty well. The sushi location looked very clean and the Philadelphia roll was delicious. I did not try the hibachi area because the ingredients didn't look fresh. Their fruit and dessert selection was large, but it wasn't really satisfying. The fruit was lukewarm and it was not sweet. The cakes I tried were way too sweet for me. Price: 2.5 out of 5 It was ~$14 for a buffet and a soft drink. I think it's worth it for the selection and variety that you get, but it's little higher than what I would've wanted for lukewarm food and lack of service. They just kept staring at us as we stared at them. Finally, a hostess came back and led us to a table. The booths have cushion seats that are all torn up and no longer have a black cover. Instead, it's a seat with bits and pieces of black cover left. The waitress took away the plates but didn't refill our drinks. My drink went all the way to empty before she came and took away our plates. I kept looking at her as if she would replace the drink but she never did. Finally, I asked. I guess their policy is to not refill until we ask for it even when it's empty. Overall, I would not come back. Today, my husband and I went there for lunch. We noticed several dishes were cold. We went back up to the food line and picked some different things. Those things were cold too. We mentioned it to the waitress- not to complain but to bring it to their attention, for food safety reasons. Then this man came to speak to us about. I have never been to a worse Chinese Buffet. My girlfriend and I had High hopes for this restaurant, as we've grown to love similar restaurants around the triangle. Unfortunately, Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet not only failed to live up to expectations, it failed to deliver even the most basic, healthy dining experience. Shrimp were served raw from the Hibachi bar. Sushi was tasteless and meally. Vegetables were over cooked, Shellfish even more-so. I lost count how many times we would take a bit only to reach for the napkin, unable to swallow. Just about the only dish that wasn't mangled was the Sweet & Sour Chicken. You get 1 fork for your whole meal. They don't have any extra forks available for customers who don't want to use the same fork for entrees and desserts. I have a huge appetite and normally go ham at buffets, so the fact that I barely picked at a plate of sushi, a plate from the hot buffet, and a plate from the dessert buffet says a lot. I left behind more food than I ate. The meat-based hot food selections are all very greasy and overcooked. The egg rolls were tough, dry and chewy, like they were sitting out for way too long. The sushi also looked like it was sitting out for far too long; the fish and the rice were dried out and crusty. The worst selection of sushi I have ever seen. I didn't get anything from the hibachi grill but that would probably be the way to go for anyone who cares try this restaurant. Dessert selection is large but unattractive. Nothing will be authentic, and everything will be reworked to please a bland American palate, because it's a Chinese buffet, not a gourmet experience. To be honest, the food is the best of almost any Chinese buffet I've ever been to, even meeting or exceeding some of the local fast-service Chinese order-at-the-counter restaurants, but nowhere close to the better sit-down-and-order Chinese restaurants. For what it is (a Chinese buffet, remember?) it's pretty solid. Would I go here more than once every few months, or so? Nope, I wouldn't. If a friend said they liked it and wanted to go, would I protest? Probably not, it's decent, and the variety (mostly) makes up for the lack of great flavors. The key to remember? OK, I ate here yesterday and I have to say that this is the best asian buffet I've had since moving to Durham. It's not the best buffet I've had by a long shot, but it is pretty good. The sushi was good for a buffet and they have a flat top grill with a good amount of fresh meats and veggies to be prepared fresh right in front of your eyes! They could use more sauce choices though as all they had was "white" sauce, garlic, and hot sauce. The buffet itself was fairly large and contained a good variety of american and americanized asian dishes. They did a fairly good job of keeping the dishes fresh. I have to say that the salmon I tried was just terrible though. Bland, rubbery, and excessively fishy. The waitress we had was friendly and competent. She kept up with the refills and plates just fine. The decor was a bit dark and the carpet was dingy, but I did enjoy the fountain and palm trees in the lobby. The bathrooms were also very clean which is very important to me. As of their last inspection they scored a 99 which is very good for a buffet. With the backdrop of Mandarin Pop music, Andrew and I experienced Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet. Was the buffet really supreme? Meh. Definitely geared for American" tastes, but the variety means there is something for everyone, even if nothing really tastes superb. There was a little bit of everything, from mac'n'cheese and potato wedges to hot'n'sour soup and lo mein. The sushi was meh. The desserts were super rich and the fruit was ok. The hibachi grill is great, I mean, if you're choosing the veggies, how can it go wrong? The wait staff were nice and always kept our glasses full. My friend and I were in the area running errands and had to grab lunch somewhere so we stopped in for a quick bite. I can sum up the experience with one gesture : *shrug* It's a fairly big place with a big buffet. They have a little something for everyone spread out over seven or eight serving bars. They have a salad bar, soups, sushi, fresh fruit, desserts, Chinese dishes (beef and broccoli, hibachi chicken, black pepper chicken, etc), ribs, pizza, mac & cheese, french fries ... there is a wide variety of food available but it's all pretty bland. The hot sour soup wasn't particularly hot in temperature or in flavor. The beef and broccoli was chewy (beef) and mushy (broccoli). The California roll had no flavor. The hibachi rice was like cardboard. I tried a crab dish served in a crab shell and it was almost as if they'd run the crab meat through a blender. My friend tried a fish dish that had an unfortunate sweet glaze on it, and said the Moo Goo Gai Pan was bland, but he enjoyed the stir fry shrimp. We sampled a couple of other things but nothing was really memorable. I also had an issue with the temperature of the food at the service bars; nothing was truly hot. I'm giving this place 2 stars because it's a Chinese buffet, so I cannot justify giving it more than this, but it is a little nicer than some other buffets I've been to. I mainly come here for the unlimited sushi. You can't get all you can eat sushi for that cheap anywhere else. The sushi isn't disgusting either. Sometimes I am not sure what kind of roll I am actually eating, but it doesn't taste bad so I'll continue to get more rolls throughout the meal. The hibachi station is pretty good as well. They'll make whatever you want and it feels healthier than getting anything from the buffet. Make sure to ask them not to put any butter or oil on the grill, since if you don't they will soak your meal in this, and forget it feeling somewhat healthy anymore. The shrimp dishes from the buffet aren't terrible. I love the spring rolls or eggs rolls as well. The green beans were delicious! I was surprised by how good they were. They were seasoned with just the right amount of garlic and were crispy. Stay clear of the salad bar. I never touch anything from over there. For dessert, check out the ice cream bar. There's about 8 flavors to choose from, and the ice cream is tasty and refreshing after a heavy meal! If you want a cheap meal, and are in the mood to eat a lot, this place is definitely one of the better Chinese buffets I've visited. I had my hopes up for this buffet but I was dissappointed by the selection of food. The dishes are mostly american or americanized chinese food. The food was good, but I was expecting more chinese dishes. The sushi selection was sparse and there was suprisingly no salmon or even tuna sushi?! Mostly just rice with cheap fish, which itself didn't taste that fresh. I will say that the hibachi was fresh with various ingredients to choose from and the sauce was very good. This might be the only reason for me to come back. I guess the name of the restaurant never mentions chinese food, so maybe I can't fault them for this. But I still think China Buffet has a much better food selection which I'd gladly pay an extra buck or two for. Buffet of cheaply made over cooked food that could make you sick just to gaze at. After a few bites, my wife and I got up to leave stopping at front desk to register our opinion. Desk manager insisted that I pay for one meal. For the first time in my life, I refused to pay a restaurant check and stated that I would gladly wait patiently while the police were summoned.
