    Dry noodles...
    Hailey H.

Ordered on doordash and the hibachi was nasty. The steak was unseasoned, chewy, and gross. The noodles were dry. Also the sauce seems watered down.

Great value for lunch hibachi! Eating area is very clean. Fast preparation of food. All the food seems to be packaged in togo containers regardless of dine-in, and you can just sit down wherever. They offer sauces and I recommend getting the white sauce!

Immediate response to my entrance... Smile was great and all questions answered without any issues. The restaurant is very, very clean. The food is plentiful and delicious!!

This was my actual order of the tempura udon. One stringy tempura with nothing in it! The others were super deep fried cheap bread crumbs

The best thing this place has going for it? It's clean. However, it's certainly not fast food as advertised, and what you actually receive is much lower quality than the display photos over the customer counter. I ordered the vegetable tempura and it was very cheap, lacked variety, and not actually the traditional japanese tempura for most of it (i.e., no panko bread crumbs, just deep fried bread crumbs like for stuffing). I took a chance since I was hungry after exercising at Planet Fitness and it was within walking distance. I show know better to trust a place that has zero creativity in their brand name. The Udon noodles were passable, which is why I'm giving this 2 stars

    It's half eaten , Hibachi Chicken lunch special - $6.99 - It's delicious!

I've been here like 3 X's , I love their Hibachi & Shrimp Tempura , the atmosphere is comfortable and it's clean. The staff is friendly & professional - I do recommend everyone to give it a try!

Took 7 minutes from ordering to the food being ready. The portion size is large. The food was pretty flavorless--definitely not as flavorful as Panda Express. They offer a variety of free sauces (garlic, hot, mustard, white), but they're all as underwhelming as the entree itself.

Hibachi shrimp. Sorry I started without you.

My first two rolls took a while to come out, but I think that was because one of the rolls I ordered was fried. My last two rolls came out much quicker and I ordered those one at a time. AYCE dinner was $26.99, and I felt like I got my moneys worth with 26 pieces of sushi (10 of those pieces were HUGE pieces of sushi too). Appa Roll (5): This roll was pretty, green, and tasty! I loved the shrimp tempura and avocado combination. Even though this was a 5 piece roll, the pieces were big, so it was just as filling as the standard 8 piece. TNT Roll (5): I enjoyed it, but probably wouldn't get this one again because it is fried and has cream cheese (too filling when you are trying to do AYCE). I really liked the mango in the roll, so I want to try their other rolls with mango! The pieces were huge, this roll was more filling than the standard 8 piece. Chapel Hill Roll (8): My favorite roll of the night, I loved the different fish on top and the avocado was delicious. Salmon Lover Roll (8): If you like salmon and avocado, this roll is for you! A lot of other salmon forward rolls have cream cheese, so I loved that this one had avocado instead. Delicious! I look forward to coming back with a friend or my husband so we can share rolls and try even more varieties!

The rolls looked pretty nice when they came out -- colorful with different toppings, sauces drizzled on top, and some green onions. The fish tasted fresh enough and the rice was okay, not too hard or mushy. But honestly, the flavors were just average. Some rolls were a bit too sweet from the sauce, others a little salty from the roe. It was creative, but nothing that really blew me away. The place has a nice warm wooden table vibe and the lighting is good for photos. Service was quick, no long wait. Price-wise, it felt a little expensive for Durham -- four rolls and we weren't super impressed with the value. It was fine for a casual meal, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back just for the sushi. Might try something else next time or their omakase to see if it's better.

I had already looked at the menu online and knew what I wanted: shoyu ramen. The order was served with a spoon, a side plate and a paper towel. There was 1 soft-boiled cut into two halves and ample amounts of scallion, menma and braised pork belly. The latter had a rich flavor, helped in no small part by the pork and chicken broth. Not only that, the broth complimented the rest of the ingredients; the egg was enjoyable. My only (minor) complaint is the portion size of the ramen itself. It was smaller than I would like. The lady that served me was probably (best guess) the owner. Her service was impeccable. In addition, Kinoko has a pleasing amenity not found in most restaurants: an AC outlet at every table that was by the wall. This was very handy for a heavy user of laptops and phones like myself. Although there was music playing in the background, it wasn't loud. The server and I were able to hear each other, and I could also hear the voices of others at the bar. The restroom had an interesting decor of newspapers for wallpaper. That was something I didn't see elsewhere. If you love good ramen, come to Kinoko Ramen. If you like a quiet place to dine in, come to Kinoko Ramen. Perfect scores in food, service and atmosphere.

It's about 10 courses for $130- and I felt it was well worth the price. The quality of the fish was great, the flavor combinations were unique, and each course was different from each other (I appreciated only one course- with 4 items- was tempura/fried). You can add on additional tempura items at one point in the meal, and you can add on a wine and sake tasting. My favorite courses of the meal were the FIRST "seabass sammie" and the brie tempura (get the add on if it's not included in your menu!!!!) Some of the courses were interactive (I.e. cooking lobster in butter) and made for a cool, fun, and unique experiences. The restaurant is small and cozy (limited seating, so make a reservation far in advance), and both the waiters and the chefs were extremely friendly and engaging (sit at the bar counter). Really enjoyed all of the food, and an opportunity to wear something nice, and to eat something different (than what you're used to in Durham). I appreciated they had 2 other tasting menus, for cheaper prices (one was only $38), and that every tasting menu was VERY different from each other (makes it easy to come back multiple times). Would highly recommend M Tempura, and will definitely be back!

Knowing how quickly their tables disappear, I checked for reservations on the drive over, fully expecting disappointment. Instead, a small miracle: an open table. I booked it before the screen could change its mind. Upon arrival, the host greeted us with the gentle chaos that only a true local favorite can produce. Our table wasn't quite ready "just waiting on a few folks to wrap up" so we lingered near the entryway, watching the ebb and flow of diners. A brief mix-up had us nearly escorted to a table before being pulled back, but within minutes we were seated, no worse for the detour. Our spot was perfect: a front-row view of the sushi bar, where chefs moved with the quiet intensity of people who know their craft is being watched and appreciated. The restaurant hummed around us servers weaving between tables, the soft clatter of plates, the low murmur of regulars who clearly consider this their second home. Our server, whose name I wish I'd caught, was a standout. Attentive without hovering, candid about the kitchen running a bit behind, and consistently thoughtful with updates. His honesty made the experience feel more intimate, more human. Cocktails arrived first, followed by a parade of sushi and small plates. Everything was fresh, balanced, and deeply satisfying, the kind of meal that doesn't need theatrics to make an impression.

The prices hardly seem to have gone up at all in ten years! And you get so much food! You're set for lunch the next day, for sure. The service was great. From the warm welcome from the host, to the attentive server, and then of course the hibachi chef who put on exactly the show we were looking for. Well the regular stuff: onion volcano, squeeze bottle with a string in it, tossing pieces of meat into open mouths, he played the hits. I will also say that the accommodations for allergies and food sensitivities seemed to be great. One person at our table said she didn't like onions and mushrooms, so the chef made her a large solo portion of zucchini in a completely separate part of the grill. The chef also asked us if we wanted double white sauce, or double ginger, whereas in the past I feel like they just served it up quick and you got one of each. I know this isn't mind-blowing, but I took note of how a tune he was to what we might want. The only thing I could say could use a little improvement would be the ambiance. It's nice, but could be even nicer and more romantic with warm light bulbs. The cool light bulbs feel a bit stark and cafeteria. I was really cold, so glad I brought a sweater, but I can understand why they keep the air down considering how many huge walls of flames are occurring around the place. Finally, it was my husband's birthday so of course I had to tell them so they could come out and sing while banging on drums! Why not? We also got a complimentary scoop of sherbet, which we didn't really want. But it was a fun and festive way to end the evening. Go forth and keep this place going! It's great!
