Food has been great so far I think you get a decent amount of food for the money, the service is good but I have noticed a lot it's influenced a lot by tipping if you don't tip the girl out front at least for me has treated me differently and when I do tip she smiles and remembers my whole order and when I don't she could care less and is to busy even when it's slow also I've tested this by tipping very little like 2-4 bucks once I tipped a little bigger due to the order size and she treated me like a king. The rest of the staff is hard working and actually treat me well no matter what because I've had them attend to me when the cashier is late or ignoring me and I understand what they say so she must be family or something because anywhere else she would be gone asap. Ambience is fine but kinda boring the couple of times I dined in I noticed the tables sticky and dust on seats and I think they could be wiped down better and also maybe the seats being rearranged. Bathroom is sadly disgusting I would hold it till you get home! I think if they had a better cashier that actually cleaned tables and attended to people well no matter if they tip or not they would do a lot better and possibly increase their income with more clients because the cooks are great and the food at least the stuff I get has always been great! I did notice today I ordered 3 lunch specials and the girl charged me regular prices I was in a rush so I didn't fight it but I also definitely did not feel included to tip! Probably a health hazard with how much the employees all smoke cigarettes and leave them EVERYWHERE, including their nasty cig water. Was going to eat here but after seeing all that I wouldn't eat here for that reason. They should learn to not litter and clean up after themselves and turn their gas off properly. read more

Hidden gem for sure!!!! if you want poke bowls this is the place for you. They have so many options to customize your bowl including bases, topping, sauces, garnishes, etc. The staff is super kind and friendly and happy to answer any questions about parts of their menu. The food also comes out SUPER fast. They have plenty of seating if you want to dine in, but I definitely recommend this as a great pick up/to-go option. I would say it's pretty averagely price for this kind of food. You get a good amount of protein (you can chose 2 or 3 scoops) which I love. I am ngl this place doesn't look too enticing from the outside but trust me and give it a try!!! read more

Tried Hibachi Poke for a carryout lunch recently. I had the Hibachi Steak and Shrimp Bowl, along with a side of Spicy Crab Meat Salad. The service was fine -- I sat in the dining area while waiting on my order, which was ready within 15 minutes. The ambiance was nothing really special -- typical strip mall restaurant, but I imagine that most of their business is carryout anyhow. I don't eat Japanese food very often, so I can't really comment on how good it was relative to other places; however, I enjoyed the meal and I think I'll be returning to Hibachi Poke at some point. read more

If the Room of Requirement was a restaurant, it would be Hibachi Poke. I stumbled upon this local gem with a friend one night and it's been here for me every time a craving for some poke hits. If you're headed there in person, don't blink because you just might miss it. It's a small, pleasant spot which had a few obvious regulars dining in, but was still cranking out takeout orders. Staff was friendly and offered their recommendations to create our perfect bowls. They even let us know about the UNC student discount! If you're like me and struggle to decide what to order when given so many amazing and fresh choices, don't worry: there is a list of Signature Poke bowls to choose from! After some serious soul searching, I decided to try the Dynamite Poke, which was one of the Signature options. I'm not a huge fan of jalapeños, which typically come in the bowl, but they let me switch them out for mango without a hassle. The portions were large, the fish was fresh, and the presentation was absolutely beautiful! On a day when I'm not as starving, I'll finally remember to take a picture... I absolutely loved the combination of sweet and spicy, with fresh toppings and warm rice. It's a good thing I've just finished eating, or I'd need to place an order for more :) If you don't feel like putting pants on to venture out (trust me, I get it), they offer convenient delivery via Uber Eats. I received my first delivery order today and the presentation was just as beautiful as if I'd eaten there! And, the special instructions that I left (subbing the jalapeños once more) were followed! Hooray! I am excited to try their hibachi and noodle soup (both udon and soba options) options, since I've been so impressed with their poke. This place is really good. I always tend to get the regular Hawaiian Poke wherever I go but I tried something different here. We got the large Dynamite Poke bowl and the large Shrimp Tempura Poke bowl. Both bowls had enough food for 2 people so get the regular if you are not starving. Both bowls tasted like a big bowl of sushi all mashed up. The place is clean and they have televisions but it's kinda quiet. The staff was not very personable but who cares because I was there for the food anyway. I ordered to go and got my food in 5 minutes. I will be back. read more

We've ordered poke for a group from here a few times times during quarantine, usually through their online order form. This is a solid option for poke in the area, with a large variety of protein and topping options. Their serving sizes are pretty big, comparable to other poke places, and we've never had any issues with the freshness of the fish. The few times I've gotten tempura it was cooked well but not particularly crispy, even with the sauce on the side. The chicken option is cooked well and is good with the sauce. Though their online order form doesn't have it, they do offer seaweed salad (you can request through additional instructions). The first time we ordered, there was too much sauce in the bowl for me and a couple others, and I'd definitely recommend requesting for sauce on the side so you can add it yourself. Also note that sometimes they are out of things that show up on the online order form, or they have additional toppings in-store that aren't shown on the form. The most recent time (a few weeks ago) their online order form let us put our orders in, but then had issues and didn't let us check out and place the order. Luckily we were able to get on the phone with a patient employee who took our order and got everything right! We let them know the online order form was broken and hopefully it gets fixed. read more

We were disappointed with our Poke meal here. We love poke and have perhaps been spoiled by Durham's Zenfish, because no other poke we've tried has even compared. We were excited to try this because they have brown rice as an option (and I'm trying to restrict myself to complex carbs only, no white rice, despite Zenfish's imported rice being the best white rice I've ever had). The brown rice was... not very good, too toothsome (almost crunchy), and looked unlike any other brown rice I'd had (which usually has a different shape to the rice kernel - this looked more like slightly tan white rice). Itaewon Grill's brown rice for their Korean BBQ bowls, for instance, is far superior in taste and texture. For proteins, I got steak and spicy tuna. The steak was OK (but cold), but the spicy tuna was... a rather unappealing texture. Whereas ZF's spicy tuna is finely minced and mixed with spicy tuna sauce, this spicy tuna had a texture as if it had been run through a food processor with some mayo based spicy sauce to make it into a paste. It was a minor but EXTREMELY noticeable difference. The selection of veggies and add-ons was, well, lacking, and they all seemed pretty tasteless. Like I was working my way through my bowl and all I could taste was a bit of the sauce... and had to remind myself that I had pineapple, edamame, sweet corn, avocado, and 2 kinds of nuts in my bowl - I couldn't actually taste them as any distinct flavors (even the sweet ingredients like corn and pineapple). The only variety the ingredients provided was in texture. We also had the gyoza, which were advertised as deep fried but which were actually steamed-and-pan-fried on the griddle - which was fine by us, but misleading. The gyoza were fine - nothing to write home about but perfectly acceptable. But the poke was the reason for going, and that definitely fell short, so we won't be back. read more

I like the poké here! It's flavorful and the portion size will leave you satisfied. I'm pretty sure the fish is frozen, but there's nowhere in NC where you'll find fresh poké, so that's to be expected. There's a wide variety of toppings and sauces to choose from and several pre-selected combinations to save you the hassle of making your own bowl, although I always like to make my own. I like that they're liberal with the sauce too. The hibachi seems pretty average, nothing special. Service is polite with a little bit of a language barrier, and the interior is spacious and clean. Overall, definitely a place I'd return for poké. read more

What a hidden gem! We moved to this area from Southern California and this is the only place we've found where the poke bowls measure up to the ones out there. They get how these should be composed and what options you should have for them. I'm also incredibly impressed with their hibachi dishes. There are a lot of Asiany places that do dishes like this and it's often kind of sad and low quality. Not here - the veggies are all high quality and fresh, the proteins are all cooked well, you get a delicious mayo to pour over everything, and the portions are ample - the hibachi dishes are usually two full meals for me.
