Hibulb Cultural Center is a gem! Before one goes shopping at the premium outlets, or visit the Christmas light at the casino, or see the tulips, drop by here first! Hibulb is absolutely worth the time. I am a fan of tribal history and arts, worldwide. There is so much to learn from the past. I greatly appreciate the artistry, with emphasis on the stories and meanings behind each work. Native American arts, especially carvings, are so potent in their story telling. Hibulb did a fantastic job with their many signs, photos, sharing tales and appreciation of nature. I wish they have a museum book in the gift shop. Things not to miss: - Sit in the Longhouse room and watch the video. - Observe the military service of the Native Americans. - Look closely at the two welcome statues; see below the feet of Kaya. - Enjoy the old restored totem poles and the associated signs for their meanings. - Learn about using cedar trees in different ways (without cutting them down) and later see photos that they are passing on the knowledge to the new generations. - Find the touch and feel boards. Easy to find, parking wasn't an issue -- went on a Friday afternoon. Wish that the center was a "First Friday" participant, but was happy to support the organization and its work nonetheless. Found that some of the exhibits were redundant, but overall really enjoyed my experience. Ancestry wall was really neat. Only other critique is that there were zero docents around to answer questions. read more

Just when you think you have run out of things to do in the northern Seattle area, you find a place like the Hibulb Cultural Center. This small museum and community center is located just across the river north of Everett past the casino. Parking is free and abundant. No surprise that it was raining when I arrived at the center. It is the Pacific Northwest anyway. The center is located further down the road from the large casino by Interstate 5. This is not a museum in a traditional sense, but more an education about the native people of this land. The center houses several exhibits about the history of the people and their interactions with the United States. The interior of the center is very nice with a lot of modern native and local design. The gift shop is very well stocked with a lot of nice native art and other items. In the back of the museum is a longhouse replica with a video presentation worth a watch. Then you can walk back through the exhibits and get a better appreciation of how we have treated native people over the past and present. The Hibulb Cultural Center does a nice job of having a great facility that tells an important story to people from all lands. This is a beautiful museum. We went on a free admission day with my toddler. We didn't stay long, but I loved how everything was placed and super informative. It didn't seem too overwhelming but welcoming as we walked around. The lady at the front was super nice and suggested areas we should check out first. It's nice to know there's a center dedicated to the natives in Tulalip and they took the time to share their journey & educate the public. read more

The wife and I brought our kids to the Cultural Center, and we had nice experience. Admission was fairly cheap. We paid $25 for the five of us. It was interesting to learn more about the tribes that are native to the lands of the area. The exhibits were well done and very informative. They had many artifacts on display that helped show the history of the tribes. The longhouse showed a video on the importance of the longhouse to the people. This is a beautiful small museum and cultural center, offering historical and cultural background on the indigenous peoples who lived and continue to live in western Washington from the islands of Puget Sound on the west, down through Seattle, east to the Cascade Mountain peaks, and north to Canada. It's well worth a drive up from the Seattle area to learn about how native peoples have lived in this area for thousands of years. read more

I have driving my car hundreds of times up and down I-5 freeway and the only thing I knew about the Tualip Tribe is that, they owned a very nice large casino that can be seen by the freeway, That all changed the day I attended a drum circle put on by Hibulb Cultural Center. The drum circle was held in the Longhouse part of the museum, it was described as sacred and was treated as so...The person in charge was a man named Cary Williams he shook hands and even gave some hugs as he greeted everyone... one by one as they entered the room.He began to sing and played his drum loud and proud. The hair on back of my arm stood straight up and we hung on every word. This was not a show to entertain us, He told us he played for love of the Tualip Tribe past and present, the love of his family, the children and the next generations.This was a big part of who he was,....A true class act... That is not all...he told us stories in between each of the songs..heartfelt stories...of the beauty of the spawning salmon and the cycle of life..the song of the eagle above and the whales in Puget Sound .He also told us on how  important the cedar tree was to his people and how it smelled and how he enjoyed watching it as it danced in the wind, He then pointed to the ceiling where large round cedar logs constructed the room we were in and thank the cedar trees for giving its life for the Tualip Tribe. It truly became a religious experience. It changed me forever... I still drive on I-5....but now I always look to the west to the proud people of the Tualip Tribe and think of the phase ......"Native Pride" read more

I brought my grandson here to help teach him a little bit about our culture, he loved it. They have a lot of beautiful displays and very informative. Everything has a story behind it. I even learned quite a bit. We did a self guided tour and took our time we spent about 2 hours here. They also have classes but we didnt do any of those. What a beautiful and amazing place celebrating Tulalip and greater Indigenous American cultures. If you go here you will really get a sense for what kinds of materials were a part of the everyday crafting life of Indigenous people. They were and still are so skilled in everything they make and the whole world was (and is!) alive to this sacred cosmology. Also some fascinating insights into how things have changed but thankfully the culture is still there for future generations. read more

We came to look at all the beautiful artwork of the Tulalip Tribe to only there were very few displays of art and few artifacts. It was nice and quiet in there, easy to park and had a lovely gift shop, but the cost of admission of $10 each for adults for what little there was to see felt overpriced. The gift shop had more to look at than the whole museum itself. I did like seeing the short video they have running and learning about why the Tulalip tribe is considered the "whale people". However with all the money coming in from the casino they should and could showcase their culture, people and history much better than they have done here. Needs work. read more

This should be a "must" on the list of anyone visiting Washington's coastal area. This history space has been created with such reverence for its people's and you feel that reverence as you pursue the history shown through the exhibits. You will find it to be a peaceful, relaxing break from the hustle and bustle that surrounds this place. And if you want souvenirs or gifts, the Cultural Center has a gift shop that covers price points in everyone's budget. It is well thought out for variety and, on my two visits, the ladies working there were delightful to visit with. Fantastic - best opportunity to learn about native people and culture in the Seattle area

Signs are popping up all over for Hibulb Cultural Center - 2000 years of local history. I brought my wife up here on a Sunday and it was a great small museum. To our delight, they have different Native American Storytellers come in on Sunday afternoon and share some legends. That was the icing on the great cake that this place is. We returned with our Grandson. Now that it was opened this time we found out we LOVE it here. I'm not just saying that because there are my family and friends who grace the wall of the veterans wall. Lots of history and culture. It's nice to see how rich we really are. I am grateful to Tulalip for having a place I can bring my Grandson and he can see where he comes from and what that means. Absolutely beautiful center. The detail and craftsmanship of even the center itself from its carved doors and art-covered frosted windows, was lovely. The displays were both very educational and interactive. There were video and audio displays to further immerse the visitor into this tribes culture. The longhouse was really cool. As Pueblos, we felt the story was the same for this tribe as ours along the metaphorical "trail of tears." Just one star off for no tribe or locally made goods. This is my second visit to the Hibulb Cultural Center. The facilities are beautiful, the staff are wonderful. The more permanent displays are very interesting and give a fascinating history. The other displays were also very enjoyable. Places like this improve cultural understanding and are wonderful for all ages to enjoy and learn from. read more

My wife and I were visiting relatives in the area and we were given the opportunity to choose an outing. After some research we decided this was the place to go. So glad we did. This is a gem tucked away from the mainstream. My wife and I both love studying culture and lifestyles of various people and cultures. The Tulalip people are a conservative people that have lived in harmony with nature, Cedar trees, salmon, rivers, natural herbs and plants. Their internal governing system has been superb. This cultural center shows a VERY great, detailed look at how they have lived and where the tribes are growing and dealing from here forward to keep their culture and dreams alive. read more
