There are a couple of official entrances, we suppose, but most people seem to enter and leave through some of the shops that border Queen and Grafton streets. Like the Subway, where we had a nice sandwich before wandering into the mall. The interior mall is two stories and is remarkably clean -- and remarkably empty of people. It has the usual selection of mall-like shops -- dresses, PEI souvenirs, shoes, bookstore, pharmacy, etc. There's not much to the food court, however, and getting to the bathrooms is a lengthy exploration not at all good when you really need to go. Overall it strikes us as not an important component of any visit to PEI.

I didn't count but I'd estimate that it probably has 40 or 50 different places of business. Not especially large compared to the monstrous, voluminous and bloated malls I'm used too. Confederation Mall does have a bookstore, pharmacy, several shoe stores, jewelry stores and the usually fancy women's dress shops. They also manage to fit in a pet store, sporting stores and several gifty, touristy places. Quite a useful and interesting menagerie. The food court is comparatively austere with mostly coffee, sandwich and bagel shops rather than restaurants although I do recall several more formal eat in places. You get your coffee or caloric treat and sit in a central area of tables placed among the fountains and plants and watch the people go by. A very pleasant place for a snack. An optician, bank and post office are conveniently located on the ground level and a bored security guard that I talked to told me that many craft fairs, workshops and entertainers visit the mall throughout the year. I got the impression that the mall was a place for the community and not just a place for profit. One of the things that really struck me was how clean the mall was. It was pouring and muddy outside yet the inside of the mall was still shining and spotless, except of course for the mud and mess I was tracking in. No one else seemed to be leaving footprints. Certainly not the largest mall I have every been in but one of the nicest. A very cool design with bridges, fountains and plants everywhere and friendly security guards and immaculate costumers. The signs plastered all over the mall say "shop outside the box" and indeed this mall is a slower, cleaner, friendlier and far more pleasant place to spend money than the frenetic, insane, cruel and hostile malls that I'm used to.
