My 16 year old took his dirt bike into Hicklin Power Sports in Grimes to see if they could do some diagnostics on it to see why it wouldn't start. He asked them not to take the bike apart unless they were able to put it back together as part of the diagnostic work. When he went to pick his bike up, the entire motor had been removed and was in parts (the main parts were in a box and then there were 4 large bags of bolts and other small parts also). Hicklin charged him $500 for the diagnostic work and then said it would be another $4000 to put the bike back together. As a result his bike has been sitting unusable in the garage for several months. Hicklin Power Sports completely took advantage of a child and put him in a position where he would be forced to pay $4500 to fix his bike, unless he knew how to fix it himself. read more

This is an easy review. Brought my 850 Quad in for its first full service after I did the break in oil change last year. Don't ride other than for hunting or getting to hunt. 32 hours on machine. Still I wanted to bring it in for the full service. Trans fluid, oil, filters, check and oil all joints, etc. I knew I was looking at $250, but whatever I plan to do it every other year. Done in one day, pick it up bring it home and 2 days later I pull the battery for storage and just out of curiosity I pull the cover on the air filter. THE AIR FILTER!! The easiest to change or check. It had never been touched. Old filter sleeve was clearly dirty, the actual filter ends had dust on them and the filter still had my mark that I put on it prior to taking it in. I do this with tires on my car for oil and rotation. You would be surprised how many times I have caught them trying not to rotate tires. So as far as ATV. If they did not replace air filter, what else did they not do? No idea. They are closed today, but will be headed back tomorrow. No second chances. Money back and I will take it elsewhere. read more

No BS price increases from the price I discussed with them over the phone, which I repeatedly got when trying to deal with other motorcycle dealerships. Honest and easy to work with. I just turned 60 and have only went to Hicklin Power Sports a few times , the younger kid at the parts counter was a pleasure to deal with , I asked the middle aged guy sitting at the other computer screen a question , he was very rude and dismissing. Sure I am not a regular customer , but since 1968 I have been pretty much been greeted by name and a friendly hand shake the moment I walk into any other shop in the Des Moines area. I was kind of looking at some kids bikes for my grandson the last couple times I've been in. Where the hell are the sales people, Over the years I have bought many many many new and used motorcycle and thousands of dollars in parts. When I go into a motorcycle shop , I want to feel like they are inviting me in to be part of their family. read more

Great experience with new motorcycle purchase. At 58 I have purchased several new motorcycles and dozens of vehicles for my businesses. Based on all that experience I rate my experience with Hicklin top notch. We spoke on the phone (out of state) made a deal, I paid, they shipped, NO BS no jerking me around with little gotcha charges. Honest and direct and pleasant to work with. All the numerous follow communications needed to manage the bank transfer, the shipping, the mailed documents, the everything were all handled in a timely manner with clear answers and assistance as needed when needed. read more

Review #2 for this dealership. My first review was a little more than a year ago. The service then was absolutely horrible and its worse now. This time I was experiencing a brake failure on my SlingShot. I called this dealership 2 weeks before I brought it in explained the problem and set up a service time. I dropped the slingshot off at the agreed-upon date and time for service with the understanding that this would be taken care that day because this is a known issue, Polaris does have a TSA out to all dealers for this, and its a routine fix. Two days later I call to ask why I haven't been contacted about my slingshot and thats when they told me it would be another 4 weeks before it was done. They took no steps to secure any parts the two weeks prior to me dropping it off. So I basically missed a major portion of the riding season because my slingshot was in their shop (July - August) Then comes the day when I can finally pick up my slingshot. I pull into the lot and there it is all covered in mud and dirt and there are also several new scratches down the side. My slingshot is always garaged but when you take it here your ride will sit outside all-day every day rain or shine, they have no respect for your vehicles here. And if this wasn't bad enough when I go inside to ask for the keys (which they conveniently just leave in the ignition while it's sitting outside) I am told that I owe money for the repair. No call ahead of time, no advising me when I dropped it off, it's just sprung on you when you show up to claim your vehicle. I find this a really bad practice for a dealership to try, that is the oldest trick in the book to try and squeeze money out of customers especially when this is all warranty work. Like my first review if I could give this dealership something lower than one star I would. All I can say is this is definitely a place to avoid. Service to the customer is definitely not going to happen here. read more

Great place, great experience. I've worked with a few dealerships that gave me an "out the door" price which inevitably had another charge or two tacked onto them by the time the vehicle made it to my garage. I had an "out the door" price in less than five minutes that was accurate and didn't change one cent. read more

Had an absolutely horrible experience with their service department. Rude on the phone. Didn't stick to their own timetable for callback and repair, and charged an arm and a leg. read more
