We are here all week for the San Diego World Series hosted by NCS. The ball field owner should be ashamed of themselves and NCS should take more pride in their tournaments. When you host teams from different counties, states, and countries, please pick fields that show some pride in your organization. They have no restrooms - only disgusting portable ones that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole. There's trash and weeds around the field and pathways - just a terrible place for families to try to enjoy a tournament that cost so much to put on. read more

Everything about this park needs to be improved. Let's start with the softball fields. The dirt is so loose that all the players looked like Pig-Pen from Charlie Brown with their own little cloud of dust surrounding them as they played. The spectator bleachers were so awkwardly placed on some fields that we were literally facing the outfield and could not see our players at bat. The area around home plate was blocked by the dugout fence, so no space to set up chairs. The perimeter fence surrounding the fields (not part of the field) were of no use as there were many holes, breaks and unchained areas that led to deep holes that anyone could have fallen through. There were some concrete walkways that started and ended with a drop that made it difficult to roll equipment carts over. The lighting for night games run off of generators that made it hard to hear the game and did not provide adequate lighting to walkway and spectator areas. Finally, the restrooms left so much to be desired. They were trailer port a potty style restrooms. The women's rr had 4 stalls with 1 on the left and three on the right. Each had their own full door, but only the one on the left had lighting. Once each individual door was closed, the stall was pitch black. Aside from inadequate lighting, each stall barely had any room for one person to stand, much less a mom with a child. Overall, not a park I'd recommend for any future softball tournaments. read more

These ball fields are disgusting! Everything from the stands to the bathrooms-all dilapidated and FILTHY! Trash cans are overflowing, weeds everywhere, trash everywhere and the stench is horrendous. The trash and filth under the stands is a biohazard. There seems to be construction work going on but that's no excuse for not keeping all field areas clean. This place should be shut down until the entire park is renovated. read more

Great softball fields.. Restrooms are the worst they always have logs floating in their porta potty... same logs from the last tournament. Also, parking sucks.. 100 parking spots for 4 softball fields, big grass soccer fields and 4 baseball fields. read more

Hickman Field is one of the good fields in San Diego county. This facility has 5 base ball fields and 4 soft ball fields. The fields are nicely maintained by the team. One of the ground staff, Tom, was very active and doing his maintenance routine, he was very efficient. The fields are in great shape, outfield is nicely trimmed, outlines are defined, fences are in great shape too. Dogout is spacious and seating are for fans are good shape. Also they have multiple batting cages. Now let's look at the issues we have. Most of the in roads are either dirt or old asphalt road. Parking might get tight during the tournaments. Only porta potty available, use it on your own risk. Location is convenient, right along the same road as REI and Roadrunner. Lot of good places around, over all nice location and great fields. read more

Either the city crew or AFA softball or both dropped the ball. Pathway from the farther parking to the fields was so overrun by weeds and garbage (and poop), there was no way to bring a wagon with gear for softball. The only restrooms were portable and practically overflowing on day one, and didn't appear to have been cleaned at all for day two with no water or soap to wash hands. Parking is tough during a tournament weekend so arrive early as you will park on the parking lot- not paved. The restrooms consists of port a potty so find a restroom before you arrive unless you are the adventurous type read more

My son's high school team had their first fall season game here. I've passed this field quite a few times, but now had the chance to see it first hand. This is the home base for the North City youth leagues. Their are a number of different fields for different sized kids all with grass infields that I could see. I saw a bunch of softball players headed to the back area of the park, so I can only assume there are softball fields back there. I didn't have a chance to explore to check it out myself. Anyway, the field my son played on was nicely groomed. St. Augustine High plays their home games here, so I'm not sure if they pay for maintaining the fields or not. Possibly share the costs. Parking is plentiful, but just beware of foul balls flying out from the field of play. I heard and saw a few cars getting plunked during the time I was there. O stars....My 14yr old daughter had a soccer game here yesterday, we have a professionally registered Emotional support animal weighing all of 3 lbs, not that, that matters. We were harassed by Tony Ray, even though my dog had her professional vest on w her tags, I pulled up my registration showed him, while he questioned me over and over AND illegally took a picture of my phone. I proceeded after the verbal, Emotional, mental harassment, was still held there not able to go until I received his name. Then I proceeded to my daughter's game. Hickman fields NEEDS to make sure the hires OR allow the volunteers to go through WHY people could possibly NEED their ESA......Maybe severe trauma, or PTSD serving our country..... whatever the case is..Wake up!!!!!! This is another park that has no public restroom. Only Portable restrooms. Yuck Parking is terrible. All dirt and not very many places to park. It also gets congested at the parking lots. This is not a good place for picnics or anything. There are no places for kids to play. There are fields for soccer and baseball games. Make sure you use the restrooms before coming here. The Hickman softball/baseball field complex sucks! We were here for a Triple Crown Sports World Series softball tournament. Entry fee is $1,100 per team. To make any softball teams play at this complex is disgusting. The parking lot to the softball fields is terrible -- dirt and potholes galore. Parking is even worse--very limited, with one-way entrance/exit which causes jam ups getting in or out. The fields themselves were actually baseball fields with raised baseball pitching mounds instead of flat softball pitching surfaces. No trees on fields 1, 2, or 3. Field 4 was the best of the group with a fair amount of shade. Only portapotties, no real bathrooms. Portapotties were FULL on the first day of the tournament. There were "trailer" potties brought in for the tournament, but many did not know about them until it was too late. TCS should reconsider using these softball fields. Not impressed- NOT EVEN A LITTLE. The soccer field at the same complex was much nicer, obviously better maintained with huge stadium bleachers. read more

United Kingdom Soccer Academy host their summer camp here. Great location, the maintenance guys are always mowing when I drop my son off at 9am. The dirt road driving into the complex can get a bit dusty. Maybe lay rocks down? read more

I have been here twice for softball tournaments. Parking is tough so arrive early or prepare for a hike. The restroom situation is deplorable. Always a line, no place to wash hands and the sanitizer dispensers are always empty. Never again for me. read more

Lots of fields for Soccer, Baseball etc the only issue is parking, theres plenty but it can be a far walk in the hot sun if you forgot something in your car. There is a ton of restaurants on the main streets around the corner. read more
