Steer clear of the food court. Prices are comparable to ballpark food and not worth the cost. You do receive a small credit with the coin they provide, but it doesn't offset the pricing. I ordered two hot dogs at $6.50 each, and both came out wrinkly and unappealing. I've eaten here before and had better experiences, which made this especially disappointing. The cashier even acknowledged that the hot dogs were cooked incorrectly, but there was no offer to replace them or provide a refund or credit. When charging these prices, food quality and presentation should be consistent. Unfortunately, this visit fell short, and there was no effort made to resolve the issue. Facility is decent but I don't recommend it for baseball above 11-12u. We're at a tournament there this weekend and they bring out this tiny portable pitching mound and the poor 15u kids are shortening their stride to avoid clipping their heel on the edge. How can they possibly pitch properly? One kid actually caught his heel and tumbled to the ground. Injuries waiting to happen- if you're going to allow tournaments there for the older kids, please get rid of the 10u mounds and purchase a couple of mounds for up to 18u so that everyone can pitch properly! read more

Snack bar; overpriced for the quality of food. Beer selection is decent if you are interested. Service at the snack bar is young athletes or grumpy old men. Bathrooms are small but there is a mirror in the ladies room! This baseball mom would like to take a quick look at her reflection before returning to the game and most baseball spots do not have mirrors. We get sunflower seeds stuck in our teeth too. ;) Love the setup of the snack bar and lounge area in the middle with the fields surrounding it. Gives options for tons of shade! Terrible facility, policies, and disrespect staff. Cancellations when we are on contract, weather, they booked private parties for more income than our rental and cancelled my kids training. When we discussed it with them, they cancelled the contract all together and put 50 of my kids in the street with no training field. It affected my business, and we lost months of revenue. This is the worst ran company, lights are not significant for evening games and when we complained to the owner, he could careless and acknowledged that the light bulbs went out and they did not have time to fix. On top of this being a HUGE safety issue and putting youth at risk, we asked to have the back field lights put back on, since that helped with the "light" he said it was too expensive. On top of this, the bathrooms are not kept clean and absolutely disgusting. Huge health department violation. read more

I've been playing here for a few years now! Overall it's a great place to play sports and hang out with friends. It costs $3 to get into the park and you can exchange the token for a water/soda/tea/hot chocolate. You can also use multiple tokens to order a more expensive drink like beer. They did recently increase the price of beer and its pretty expensive. For a large modelo it is $10 (3 tokens + $1). The snack shack does the job if you want to eat their. They have pretty good chicken tenders and honey mustard. The hotdog, burger, and pretzel are pretty basic but they do the trick. read more

This is a great place for playing in a softball league. They have 3 really nice fields, great umps, batting cages, and beer. It's a really nice place to play or even watch a game. I played on a league with my work every Wednesday night and it was so much fun. You do have to pay a $3.00 entry fee but they give you a token which is good inside for a drink or food. They have a great area in the middle of all the fields that you can order food, snacks, and beer and wine. The hot food they have is, pizza, chicken tenders, fries, mozzarella sticks and pretzels. This place is a mecca of soccer and softball dudes. We are of the soccer persuasion, so that's what my review is based on. I am also of the beer persuasion, it will also be based on that. My boyfriend plays in a league here on Tuesday nights. It's a long haul from Oceanside, so I am glad it is worth it, generally. You have to pay to get in, $2.50 per person. But that $2.50 gets you a token, a token that is good for the same amount in cash at the bar. So, we pay to get in, and I have to pony up 75 more cents to get a large Coors Lite for the game. Or we combine everyones tokens, or the ones we have been hoarding, and get a few pitchers with the team after the game. The same guys work in the Pub every week, they're all cool, friendly and polite. I've had a slice of pizza once, and a hot dog once. It's exactly what you'd expect...not bad, not great. My minus a star is for the refereeing. It's kinda spotty, inconsistent. There are some good, fair ones, some that are not so much. Some of the teams are absolutely brutal with the fouls. It is what it is, it's a sport. They're big boys and can dish it right back too, or worse, but the calls need to be consistent. If you're not going to call certain things, then don't...on anyone. Decent place but you have to get in to play each time which is not the most fun - trying to make sure you always have cash on hand, but they give you a token that you can use at the snack bar for items which is nice. Our team just saves them all up and does a fun pizza/bear meeting after the last game. They have food and drinks and batting cages and good fields. It's a fun location and plenty of parking. So I just joined a softball league for the 1st time. Which means I'm now playing against 'softball guy'. Softball guy hates his wife, his job, his kids and spends 5 grand on gear...which means he lives at the Sportsplex. Fine. Beer prices neither cheap nor expensive. TV's show good games. Staff aren't nazis. Batting cages: big plus. Fields are kept up and the most of the refs are temperamental weirdos...just like in the bigs. What more do you want? I guess my only gripe is that after paying $60 to join a league, you still have to pay $2.50 to enter the plex every game? If you're a woman do not play coed soccer here. The ref allow you to be sexually assaulted on the field and blame you. Guy grabbed my chest 3 times, not a bump or shove a full grab. 1st time thought it might have been an accident, 2nd time I told the guy to watch himself. 3rd time I defended myself and smacked him upside the head. Result- ref kicks me off the field. I won't lie I told the ref off. Sportsplex manager "what do you want me to do? I can't give you his name. All I saw was you yelling at him". Softball: I have been playing softball here for over 5 years. I used to absolutely love playing here! That was until the old softball director moved out of state and they decided to hire a new guy doesn't have a clue on how to run a softball program . Not to mention he has the worst customer service of anyone on the entire planet! If you are an All Star softball player and like to use shaved bats you will love playing here but if you are a team looking to have fun, meet new people, and socialize just save your money! There are SUPPOSED to be different divisions for different skill levels but this guy must not realize that because he likes to put all the REALLY good teams in the same divisions as the not so good teams. My team was one of the not so good teams so after getting beat 20-6 we went to voice our concerns. He said "that we should stop complaining and that we didn't have come back next season because he had a list full of teams that were waiting to play". WTH?! Thanks to the terrible new softball director my team will be playing somewhere else next season and taking our 600.00 league fees with us! BRING BACK BJ!!!! read more

As a sports complex this place is ok. Have never experienced any of the libations here as I am usually here in the early to mid morning. I think I would have a tough time justifying that regardless if it is noon somewhere. The place consists of 3 softball fields, an indoor soccer / lacrosse field and a roller hockey rink along with some batting cages. The layout is decent from a spectator standpoint if you're there to catch a game. An observation made is that the teams that play here seem to be ultra competitive. A rec. league this does not seem to be. One needs to be careful walking in and out because of the foul balls from the fields. There really is no protection so you need to be aware or run. Ever since the management changed to the new guy it's gone down hill. The league balances are totally whack. And the worst part is that the new management does nothing to improve the playing conditions for players and lets refs do whatever they want. I have broken 3 bones in the last 4 months due to referee negligence and the league refuses to discipline or take any actions at all. I considered this to be the last bastion of SAFE indoor soccer in San Diego, but it's quickly becoming just as ruffian as all the other places. Very dissapointed lately. read more

No question about it, this is one of my favorite places in San Diego. I did not learn about it until after I came back to SD from Collage and I now see why that is. This place is for you if you fit this description (or would enjoy this): If you love sports (Softball, indoor soccer, they used to have Hockey) You have a competitive nature yet love to drink (if you love to win but dont mind losing if you are a little drunk) If you are a team player that likes to talk smack to the other team. Really, those are the important qualities to have when playing at the Sportsplex, let me tell you about it. There are 3 softball fields that are in beautiful condition, 300 foot fields that have fences and warning tracks, a good scoreboard and drunks watching your game (me!). In between all of the fields is a bar where you can get good cheap beer and also some nachos or pizza, or ice when you land on a softball and break your metacarpal (me!). There is also a batting cage that allows 5 people to take swings at once. There are also 2 indoor soccer fields that seem to be very popular with the futbolers. It costs 2.50 to get in but that will get you a token to use for a beer, they have their priorities straight! This is a community, a group, and a family at times. There is a woman there that will go immediately after work and bring her 4 kids to watch her play three games that evening, she must do this a few times a week. No doubt the children's individual fathers all once played there. There are many people like this too. Sportsplex USA you are amazing, Poway is super far but I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Screw going out and drinking, lets play some organized slosh-ball and talk shit to the opposing team! That is the kind of Thursday night I want to have! read more

I'm also forced to drink beer after every win by my teammates... $2.50 to enter, which can be used to buy a drink - try the Green Tea. Fun atmosphere to play softball games. I hate this place with the passion of a thousand suns... Everything about it just screams slimy. After paying a pretty decent price to submit a team to the league, they also charge you $10 for a player card and then $2.50/person per entry into the facility...so, $2.50 x 10 games = $25 extra per player for the season. $25 x 10 players = $250 per team. Suddenly, your team fees, which were definitely NOT cheap to begin with, have an added $250 + $10/player x 10 players = $350... So, to register a team, all said and told, is basically $1000 per season (Okay, $900 after the 1st season and buying the player cards, but you have to get a new one each year and you might not keep all the same players...plus, there's no mercy if you forget your card: buy a new one for $10 on the spot. Complete bs...). Moving on from there, the the officiating for soccer is pretty bad. In the times I've played there, about 1/2 of the refs are great and 1/2 are God-awful. There's no consistency, and regardless of how good or bad they are, they're almost all assholes. Beyond that, the facilities are decent--they're nice and new at least. The entry fee you pay gets you a token, which lets you buy overpriced beer, Powerade, and food at the snack shack (which is good, but doesn't redeem the place--something about being forced to buy food and beer urks me, and in all honesty is probably illegal...). Lastly, it's way out of the way for me...but I can't hold that against them. They didn't choose where I live. Sadly, I'm forced to play here since this is where my team plays... I wish there was a better alternative...and maybe there is, but since I'm not in San Diego anymore and only play here and there, I haven't truly looked into it. My first paid venture into the wild and wacky world of Men's Adult Softball Leagues was facilitated by the Poway Sportsplex staff and their remarkably well-run facilities. A special shout out to my man, Bo Ginsberg, The Commissioner, if you will. He's the dude to talk to if you want to register a team, register as a free-agent, or if you have any questions about the softball leagues. It was very easy to get set up. I emailed Bo, he floated my name around, and a team made contact with me. The leagues offer a wide variety of days and times at which you'll play. The game time changes, as does your field, but it's rarely unreasonable. The 10pm games can get a bit late, especially during the playoffs. Sportsplex provides the umpires. For the most part, I've noticed that they have been neutral and relatively accurate. I haven't run into an ego-maniac yet, which is always a good thing when it comes to amateur sporting events. Amateur hour should be for the players in the field, not for the attitudes on it. There's a $2.50 entrance fee to the park, which upon paying, nets you a plastic token that can be redeemed at the bar for a discount on beverages. They can be collected and used anytime. The kitchen/bar area starts closing around 10pm, so if you play at the latest game time, you'll have to show up early if you want to purchase something to eat at the park. Sportsplex Poway features softball batting cages. I believe there are four or five cages, but I would avoid the cages on the far right. Generally, three are in working condition, and one of the two (on the right) never gets enough balls. They always seem to funnel to the machines on the left, so be wary of this. It could take you half an hour to get through 10 pitches. All in all, I recommend signing up for a softball league if you're a fiend like me! read more

I'll skip over the softball and the cover charge ($2.50 to get in, gets you a soda or $2.50 towards a beer). You either want to play here, or you don't. This is more of a food and drink review. In a nutshell, it's not very good. The food is slightly better than the drink, in that they do prepare it when you order it, and they have some food items that aren't completely greasy (the burger is edible, though hit and miss as to how overcooked it is). The fried food is almost always semi-burned, and most of it is expensive. The pizza is the best thing on the menu, and it's only passable. While they do assemble the pizza and cook it on site, it's obvious that the crust is previously frozen, and the sauce is just super bland. As for the drink. Over the years they've slowly gotten rid of the beer varieties I liked, and made all the others WAY too expensive. My team has taken to leaving immediately after the game to head to a local pub to drink for two reasons... better beer at cheaper prices. I think they let the "captive audience" thing make them think they can charge ballpark prices for things, and it's just not worth it. The service is acceptable, but not exceptional. Mostly, they're just guys behind the counter pulling pitchers and frying up fries. "Dour" is an appropriate adjective, though not quite "surly". They get the job done, but they don't add to the environment like at a restaurant. So, while it's still a good place to have a softball league, I wouldn't plan on bringing the family expecting to eat here. Plan on a short trip to one of the local restaurants instead. read more

Doesn't get any better, but you do have to pay even if you are just a spectator... 5 stars for the softball program... Lets put it this way there are waiting lists for almost every league. Good refs, all different levels of competition, good people 1 star for the soccer program... Once the management transferred from Chris (yes the one who review this place) to the new guy, its gone downhill. The guy is completely clueless, hard to get a call back when you are looking for players or a team, more worried about collecting money than running the league. Not even sure if he can spell soccer. I played a couple of baseball tournaments here growing up and just recently started playing adult softball. this is a great place to go and have fun, chill, drink some beer, be competitive. .. You can play softball, arena soccer, and lacrosse. they also have a batting cage and roller hockey rink. you pay 2.50 to get in and they give you a token that you can use to get a large soda or a regular beer. you can combine your tokens that way you can get a large beer or pitcher. playing buzzed/drunk is soooooo fun!! they have food there that you can order as well. its a cool little sports pub with tvs. this place reminds me of the good ol days playing little league baseball and running to the snack bar after the game and getting a hot dog or something with a soda. Only now i'm running to the snack bar to grab me a few brews. So if you wanna have fun with your friends/coworkers start up a team. they have co-ed leagues as well. this place has something going on everyday of the week. read more

I play softball here one night a week and find it to be a great place. Well organized and best of all you can buy beer there. Games are only an hour and you can hang out and watch others play while enjoying great draft beer. They have batting cages, indoor soccer, roller hockey and of course softball fields. They charge 2.50 in order to get in and they give you a token whether you are playing or not. The best part is that you can use that token for a beer. For this alone I give it 5 Stars. There's a nice indoor snack bar with booths and televisions. It's a good place to kill some time before your game or celebrate a victory. There's ample free parking but the negative side is that you have to pay to get in, whether you're a player or a spectator. It's $2.50 per entrance, which isn't bad but it starts to add up over the season, especially considering that you're paying to play on the team too. They nickel and dime you to get a player's card every year ($10) plus your team registration fee ($40-$50 for a two-month season).
