It absolutely doesn't compare to what I'm used to at my regular joints in New Orleans, Texas etc. etc. During my first visit I was considering making a return visit to sample their burger but after looking at pictures of the burger and from my experience of their BBQ I just think I'm not going to ever be motivated enough to make a return visit as to me it just doesn't ring my bell as I've been so spoiled by Gonzo's Smokehouse in Luling, LA (best in the WORLD as far as I'm concerned) Austin, TX BBQ (second places-ish with other Texas joints) and Kansas City BBQ (always fighting for the top spot)... Once you've experienced Nirvana it is hard to fall back to mere mortal morsels although if you put that BBQ meat in front of me when I'm hangry I will totally destroy it like a pack of lions or school of rabid piranhas as I'm all about a big pile of meat and my carnivore beast instincts will take over!!!

Food was good, full of flavor. Didn't matter if it was brisket or babyback ribs. But somewhere along the way, the prices got higher and higher, but the quality got less and less. Brisket getting tougher. Ribs being gritty from seasoning not cooked in. Use to, except for a few options, BBQ sauce was an add on. Now everything is covered in it. I think i can't give 1 star because part of me enjoys the sweet BBQ nostalgia of this spot. Bit despite living a short distance from this location, I can't justify a $40 rack of babyback ribs that won't hold up to The Shed of old. I hope they find their passion and focus again, the coast needs good BBQ! But sadly I feel it's holding on to a legacy and TV popularity instead of keeping the course that got them started.

The only draw back was that being near closing time they didn't have links but was able to do slices. It was good but hard to eat. My hubs got chicken and ribs. I liked the ribs... they still had some bite, tender but not falling apart, and the smoke is mild, not overkill like so many other places do. Hubs wasn't a huge fan of but I thought they were nice. The chicken was on the dry side, but I never go to a bbq joint to order chicken so it's not a deal breaker for me. The only major downer was that all of our sides seemed to be standard pre-made and ordered items, not made in-house. I also liked the hole in the wall vibe, the friendly staff, and the divine smoke aroma that lets you know you're in the right bbq joint. All in all I enjoyed their Q and will need to go back when I can get the timing right to sample their steam table offerings.
