Where to start?..... A quick Sunday stay over in Moss Point found us in a Super Bowl Sunday dilemma. The Pirate wanted super bowl food. Easy....chicken wings. Fortunate for some and unfortunate for us, most of the local places were chain fast food (meh....insert sideway glance emoji here). The ONLY place that caught my eye during the search was Tay's. So we hopped in the car and in a short drive we see a shed attached to a gas station convenience store. Okay, let's see what we got here. Ohhhhh the smell as we opened the door. Holy Oh my Thank you Jesus kinds of cooking smells. A man appeared from the back and we asked about chicken wings, about 15 more minutes. Perfect! Fresh off the grill. I love barbecue and never make the mistake of ordering too little. 30 wings, a 1/2 rack of ribs, 2 smoke cajun sausages, pint of mac n cheese and the barbecue beans. while we waited, we grabbed some ice cold beer, water and a soft drink for the room. While waiting we saw several people order and go. Always a good sign. As quick as we arrived we we're heading back to the room. Every bite was better than the last. The ribs fell off the bone, the smoky wings were delicious with or without sauce. The mac n cheese, the beans......oh the beans. The beans were a meal in themselves with smoked sausage. I don't now how much love those guys packed into their food, but it was like a hug from the inside. We left Moss point and headed home, loads of leftovers in tow. The next day we ate again and I made a plate for our dear neighbor Yvonne too. I so wish Tay's was closer, but I'll tell you this, Ill never travel along Interstate 10 without getting off at Moss Point to get some Tay's. Always in my heart Tay's, always!

From a BBQ snob (as in I smoke my own and create BBQ perfection ) it is really a 3.5 as they did they exceeded my expectations, but they left the membrane on the ribs so I rounded down. Being admittedly opposed to gas station food I broke my self imposed rule while driving by a seeing the smoke signal . Great for a quick cheap bite while driving through or take out lunch. Worth a try but not worth going out of your area. In my opinion there is a 5 star BBQ place in the area but I don't want to disrespect Tay's work, and Tay's has more days open. But if you're in the geographical area and have time I recommend searching for my other BBQ review.

Brisket sandwich with Cole slaw and cheese grits!

On the road heading from Houston to Charlotte, NC. Needed to find a place to stop for dinner. I am always up for BBQ. Found this place and I have to say, this is THE BEST Q in Mississippi!!! It is always the little hole in the wall places that make you slow down and enjoy their efforts. Tay's is just that place!! Bonus is you get to sit in the car and look out over the Mississippi sky. You know the place is legit when the order behind you is from the Moss Point's finest Fire Department!! If you're lucky enough to be on I-10 near Moss Point do your taste buds a favor and stop at Tay's!!!

Been here a few times... and it's time to give them a proper review best smoke wings I had in Mississippi... an make sure u catch them on a Wednesday 30 wings for $15.00 can't beat that...

    Y'all call this brisket?

Sorry y'all, it sounds like you're known for your ribs and I guess I should've tried those, but the 'brisket' I got was dry, chewy, stringy, and had no smoke ring to be seen. I've eaten bbq all over the country, of every style, and this was among the most disappointing experiences!

Very Good food!!! The 3 Cheese grits could be a meal all by itself, sooooo good. Mac and cheese was great, ribs cooked perfectly and wings fell off the bone. White sauce went good w all, even dipping the Mac and cheese in it. Spicy sauce wasn't overwhelming and was great w the chicken wings. Regular sauce went well w the ribs. Very friendly people working there.

Good smoked chicken wings with good side options and a decent price during a chicken wing shortage. Overall, will visit again!

Best ribs outside of Texas. I live in Houston and always stop here. Wings are also good but need a little Slap Ya Mamma to wake them up.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

Not good at all…read more Ordered 1/2# brisket + 1/2# pulled pork + 1/2 rack of baby-back ribs + a pint of beans & a pint of cole slaw + some original BBQ sauce = $68. The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

In town for a few hours on business, & as usual, I researched a restaurant to try…read more Went at approx 3p on a weekday for a late lunch; ample, free parking lot newly resurfaced directly in front of of the establishment. Initial impressions: wow, this entire place is the color black, as in too black, floors, walls, ceilings, and, everyone is seated & being served in the front area. I clearly recall thinking to myself that my attendance will be lack luster; I elected a standard height booth, located only in the back area. Sometimes I do loathe to be right based on experience alone & this was no exception. A lovely female server verbally assured me that she'd attend to me in just a moment. Unfortunately, my experience was that she'd offer water/ drinks when she had fully attended to all of the patrons in the front area. By the time she did, it was clear that she felt relief to have settled the business, for the moment, of the front- dining customers, now able to address my visit. I've lived in Biloxi for a few years & felt confident that my expectations of Jacks were adjusted for the area. The wine offerings were equivalent to middle-bottom grocery store shelf; no thank you. I ordered the Jackimo & Bayou rolls; I like sushi. Given my druthers, I'd eat it for all three daily meals. Definitely agree wholeheartedly with the few other reviewers that these rolls are almost nothing but solid, not good quality sushi rice. One tiny crossection of a crawfish, cream cheese, and a shrimp, measuring 1/2 an inch in diameter, is the only part of my rice loaf that is not, well, rice. How dare you, Owner of Jacks, charge SO entirely much for the nearly non-existent "sushi centers"?! Shame on you for delivering the verbiage of the actual contents of these...loaves of rice, as bountiful flavor bombs. No amount of sauce drizzle will compensate for the utter lack of...ingredients other than rice. I do totally get why Pgoula patrons like the hodgepodge menu which lacks a clear identity, genuinely. 'Sushi rolls' are grossly overpriced; wine menu offers a poor & tiny selection. Not at mid-volume of diners, the poor server could not manage to help this first time customer feel definitively as the afterthought once the front room was pacified. I honestly think that this eatery meets the tone and vibe of Pgoula & locals clearly show their enjoyment of it with repeat business. It offers a great weekday sushi roll special, if you're into their versions. Try not to sit beyond the front dining, bartop tabletops & consider yourself warned of the very sticky floors. I'm glad the locals enjoy Jacks; it's begging to be an episode of Restaurant Impossible. I wish it the best.

We selected this spot because it's located across the street from the hotel we reserved and when we got out of our car the smell of the food was good. We went in and they kindly greeted us and said it we will be seated in about 30 minutes. We accepted and greatly was seated in 10 minutes, that was the good part. We walked to the table and I saw a guest with a plate of fajita and noticed it looked bland. They gave tortilla chips and salsa, the chips had no salt and the salsa was very mushy with no taste. I ordered Birria tacos, no season. The dipping sauce is very watery taste. It came with beans that had a very improper season. The enchiladas and other orders my family had was flavorless, low quality of ingredients, guacamole was too mushy. Someone dropped a plate that crashed on the floor. Not quite Margarita time for me, but I spotted a really fun full bar and an extensive menu of specialty drinks and bar food specials. The menu looked really nice and while I was gonna go for the street tacos, We opted for the limited Lunch Menu at the last minute. (served until 3) The lunch menu had something for everyone. I gorge out on the complimentary chips and salsa but my son chose to order the "large" queso which is definitely enough for 4 people... wow! what a portion. The salsa came in cute little carafe and was very mild for any latino tongue, but I loved it. Son ordered the quesadilla and I the loco burrito. Plenty of food, I really enjoyed mine which was accompanied by pico and guacamole salad. Son slathered his with more of the queso and we both requested boxes to go. The surroundings and staff were very pleasant. Perhaps I'll pop over for a margarita later, I saw a jalapeño one that might just do the trick.
