You can view different falls, cascades, flow stones, and more from short distance strolls to overlooks, or delve deeper into the gorge for a closer view. Swimming is not permitted except in certain areas, so take notice, people have drowned here. Be careful when hiking and exploring the floor of the gorge as the dam can release water with limited warning. That being said, the Twin Falls and Great Falls are lovely, and the diverse landscape keeps the walk extremely interesting! Me and the dog did the Upstream and Downstream trails on the Twin Falls side, and the Gorge Trail on the Great Falls side, and while Dianne, they are steep and slippery, so wear proper shoes!

The "city" of Smithville isn't exactly a booming place to be... Mostly closed or old buildings - very small, and unless you're camping, I wouldn't stay in the immediate area. But once you get to the lake, it's amazing! The campgrounds are well kept and fairly large. The lake itself winds around, snake-like, with cove after cove to play in or soak up the sun in. You want privacy? You got it! You want wakes? You have that too! The fishing must be outstanding considering the many tournaments they have there. My husband and I live closer to two other lakes, but we drive just over an hour to come to this one. We can't say enough great things about it!

It's a little early in the year, so we didnt see too many people. One note, the two bathrooms we used both had stairs. Im sure they have bathrooms that can be accessed without stairs, but I didn't see them. One note, there are picnic tables near the road to one of the boat ramps. As I was driving through a small child ran out in front of me from between to parallel parked cars. No big deal, I was driving like an old lady, but highky recommend keeping an eye out if you drive through there.

Everything everywhere was neat and clean. Sunshine at the front reception had a very bubbly and helpful personality. There are several different things to do while you are here. I liked exploring the woods that led to a small waterfall . It smelled so fresh and new because of all the greenery. I felt so far from civilization but wasn't. It was only about $40 a day with water and power hook up. You can get a sewer hookup for $10 more but the dump station is free down the path not too far from the campsites. I am looking forward to returning here. I love the peacefulness and tranquility of the place. I just wish I could of jumped in the lake for a swim but I don't think that is allowed. The stream in the woods was very cool and refreshing though. I love this place!

It was a last minute decision to stop in TN for one night on our way hland we were happy we picked Deep Valley. First reasons to pick this place, great prices for the amenities. If you're cost-sensitive like me, or on a budget - great place. Of all the places we stayed at for the past two years they had the best prices! Second reason to stay here, and the biggest reason, the owner treated us like family - NO BS! When I pulled-in the park, I was greeted with a smile and he called me by my name before I introduced myself. They're in the people business and they do it well!! Pete is the man who greeted me. He is smart, informative, and super helpful. Everyone who writes about this campground is because of Pete and his family - they're great people and and worth meeting.

The owners are amazing, accommodating, and kind. Pete even checks with us weekly to see if we need propane. We have bonfires and potlucks, and we all celebrated Thanksgiving together. There's a beautiful trail that leads down to a waterfall and creek directly from the property. The pool is very nice, although it's too cold to swim now. The showers are much like campground showers, but they're always clean and warm with great water pressure. The washers and dryers are brand new HUGE HE machines. You pay one monthly fee and wash all you want, so definitely the best value we've ever experienced in a camp. The clubhouse is available at all times with pool, air hockey, foosball, games, puzzles...anything you'd really like to do. The camp itself is small and private and in the deep country. Very quiet. You will not ever experience similarities to a large, commercialized campground, so please do not arrive with those expectations. Come here if you enjoy the freedom to have campfires, hiking in your own backyard, and a family-like atmosphere. The owners are always here, it's safe, and it's close to Dale Hollow Lake, Standing Stone State Park, and many other attractions nearby. The electric is 30-amp, but we have had no issue with this. Pete lends you an adapter, as well as a cord to keep your waterlines insulated, then he coaches you on how to conserve electric. We've gone over a few times, and you simply walk down and flip a breaker. No issues at all. The WiFi is FANTASTIC. I work full-time from home online, so this is a MUST for me, and it has not failed us. What I love most is the horseshoe shape of the common grounds. You can see the swing set and pavilion from any site. My kids can safely play here, and the teenagers have been "hanging out" like they would with school friends. Lots of places here for them to socialize without being too close to campers (or bothersome). And they love children here, so it's a wonderful family camp. It's just an overall great camp filled with gracious people, nature, and heart. We love it here and will always come back when we're in this area. It breaks my heart to see only the negative Yelp review sponsored here because our family, as well as everyone else here and anyone who has arrived since, have experienced the total opposite of what this person reported. Please allow this as a review for customers to see, as the review shown is not stereotypically indicative of a stay at this amazing little campground.

July 15, 2026, I called Reservations (can't remember the name of the…read moregirl who took my reservations, although I wrote it down somewhere but when I hear it, I'll know it) & booked the dates of July 18th, Saturday, to July 21st, Tuesday of 2026; B65 was the location. I explained to the female that I had trouble with self-reservation online & I couldn't see the rest of the information in the dropdown box whenever I clicked, what looked like a location was available or as I understood it to be available. She took my reservation, REPEATED IT BACK to me correctly (in between putting me on hold about 2 or 3 times) and then gave me the price. I paid for it and she sent the email confirmation. I looked at the email and saw the date I called, the time & "18th - 21st." Cool. That Saturday morning of July 18th, I drove over 9 hours (got lost a little bit because of highway construction and GPS) but made it there. Went to the office lobby, gave my name & the campground location. "Brandy" is what the front desk girl asked me as my name. "No..." I responded and repeated my name. Well, long story short, she said Brandy had my spot, I was offered another location, I took it, showed her my confirmation and saw that the reservation girl had listed me as "Tuesday, August 18, 2026 arrival" and departure "Friday, August 21, 2026." I told the young lady at the desk of the conversation of my reservation and stated that although I didn't notice the month and days were incorrect, the reservationist spoke it correctly, so that's what I saw. The part that really got me, she said I had to pay $17.00 extra to go to the new location. I refused. I have worked in hospitality for years and I know how it works. I told her I wasn't upset with her but I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake. I asked for a refund. Then I drove another 10 or so hours back home (because of traffic & getting lost trying to leave Spencer, TN). I'm just now leaving this review because I tried to forget what happened but each time someone asked me, who hadn't seen me since I returned, how my vacation went, as I replay the scenario, my emotional feelings of frustration, some anger & the memory of how exhausted I was, returns. I slept for 2 days because I had missed so much sleep just driving to TN then immediately returning home. Will I ever return to this campground? I doubt it. NO, I shall not. No one even apologized to me. All I heard was, "That'll be $17.00." My response, "17.00 for what? I'm paying?" Nooooo, I believe I'm done. Thanks for reading.

Fall Creek Falls State Park Campground Review: Campground C - Site 148 - The site is not level and…read moreour fifth wheel would not self level. We manually had to level our rig with our jacks. Many sites in campground C have a minimum to major slope to the concrete sites as they fall to a valley. All utilities are in the back corners of sites that include water spigot, a power pedestal with 20AMP, 30AMP, 50AMP electricity, and sewer connection. The campground did have decent guest WiFi, but we utilized our own StarLink satellite for internet. The park is amazing with golf, lodge, trails, and falls.

This is Burgess Falls, another state park located in Central Tennessee sitting 12 miles northwest…read moreof the town of Sparta, TN. There's a 3/4 of a mile out and back hike called the River Trail that leads to 4 different waterfall lookout points comprising Burgess Falls SP. Waterfall #1 - The Cascades. Sort of the introduction area to the park. Waterfall #2 - First Falls. A quick glance at a 30 foot high waterfall section. But nothing special, imo. When Continuing on the trail, you'll cross over a wooden bridge and follow up a staircase. Now at... Waterfall #3 - Middle Falls... Middle Falls is 80 feet high and partially obstructed by trees and branches having grown over time. *Side Note*.... I wish park services would do some forest cutting for everyone to enjoy clearer views of the park's waterfalls. Entrance right now is free. I'd suggest charging a small fee and using that money to pay for some grooming. A lot of the observation points can't be fully appreciated. Just me venting a little, lol. Waterfall #4 - Burgess Falls... Burgess falls is the centerpiece highlight of the park. Standing at 136 feet from top to bottom, Burgess Falls can absolutely be dramatic, but still natural excess forest maturation disrupts full visibility of the falls. I did read that kayaking at the bottom of Burgess Falls is the most interactive way to come face to face with this statuesque waterfall. You can rent kayaks at Cane Hollow Recreation Area, located at the end of Cane Hollow Road. It's about 10 minutes from Burgess Falls. You can end the River Trail hike at the Top of Burgess for a panoramic overlook of the rugged gorge the falls splash down into from high above. It's another quick stop and go area before returning back towards the trailhead. Overall, Burgess Falls was a muted experience for me, but still has potential to be a rewarding visit if park authorities can maintain the inevitable growing forest hindrances that negate special moments at the waterfall overlooks.
