The first amazing surprise is there was no entry fee! We entered the garden and quickly ran into another surprise- a human-sized chess board! My boys wanted to play a game against each other...didn't know it was going to take 45mins...but it was fun to sit and watch and listen to the birds chirping. We then continued our tour around the grounds and saw many wonderful plants, trees, bushes, flowers and more. The grounds are beautifully manicured! There some educational areas where you can learn more about irrigation, landscaping and design. To walk around the garden takes about 30mins, but we spent 1.5hrs here as we took a lot of pictures and asked some questions from the workers. The workers and volunteers were very gracious to answer our questions and teach us more about the garden. You can tell they love their job and they love visitors. At the end of the tour, I made sure to drop a little cash in their donation box. Thanks Conservation Garden Park for the great time!

They have great visual exhibits, labelling placards, and fun interactive activities. 10/10 worth the stop, and I can't believe this place is free to the public. We stopped in here to take some casual iPhone photos as a family since we don't see eachother everyday. (Photography requires a $10 pass) It was the perfect backdrop for what we were doing, and we had a great time exploring the gardens through the park along the way.

What a funny juxtaposition of old and new…read more THE OLD I love old trees, and there are plenty here. Big mature trees that reach to the sky, and they survived the recent windstorm that ripped through trees in other parks, mostly to the north. Old location, here in the heart of old Sandy. Old Sandy is charming sandy, and not the strip-mall-and-suburb Sandy we all think of today. Old Sandy and its old Main Street. Old Sandy and the charming shops. It still has a long way to go until it's at full restoration, but Old Sandy is lovely. That fireplace/indoor massive charcoal grill thing is a remnant of a bygone era. I love it, it's unique, it's funky, and I'd love to do a big get together here with tons of charcoal and loads of grillables on those long grills. You remember get togethers, right? Pre-pandemic fun, oh boy. THE NEW I think the playground is pretty new. It looks impressive, and it's certainly not the old rickety things I grew up with. I don't know how the pavilion can be both old and new but it has the stone/brick fireplace but also newer picnic tables and what looks like a new paint job. It was nice, and had a little sparkle to it. I'm a fan of these smaller size parks. I like this one. I like the simplicity. I don't love the jail looking doors to the restroom that you can just look right into, but you can't have it all. And the fact that many small parks don't have restrooms at all makes these restrooms at this somewhat small park seem like a bonus, anyways. A charming mix of old and new.

Very well kept, it has…read moreabout a dozen picnic tables and--in something I've seen rarely in neighborhood parks--an interior fireplace with to BBQ pits. It really makes for a great gathering place. There's a nice nice open space (around 100 square yards), a high-quality playground, benches, a handful of outer picnic table and (in another rarity) a very clean restroom. Another differentiator are the gigantic old-growth trees. You can tell the Sandy City Parks Department took great care in molding the park around the pre-existing tree life. Not too far from the Utah Cultural Center, you'll find the Pioneer Crossing Regional Park-a modest…read morepark with a playground, restrooms and walking trail. I'll admit, it's not the most beautiful park in the valley, but as I do, I found some good in it regardless. The playground is located right next to the parking lot and there are a few trees that surround it. Depending on the time of day, you might find yourself in a bit of shade. The restrooms are right there, too, although they were locked when I visited around 5pm on a Monday afternoon. The Jordan River Trail walkway goes through this park, so there are marked paths for walking, jogging or biking. Some parts are shaded, but most of the path is not. There also appears to have been a fire at some point (controlled? I'm unsure) and there's a lot of charred vegetation that remains. There's a wobbly suspension bridge that takes you over the river. It's not too big, but if you're nervous about rickety bridges over water, maybe pick a different path.

Well, this is a different place than it used to be. As a kid, I would go here with my dad. It was a…read moreschool then, and we'd sled down the hill. Some very fond memories of my dad getting the old inner tubes, blowing them up, and tubing down. He took my little brothers a couple times and I went as a pre-teen and the hill seemed much smaller then. As a teen, my first ever paying job was here. Again, it was still a school, and they had baseball diamonds where I was an umpire for tee-ball. Such memories. When they got rid of the school, I was curious to see what would happen. What sprung up in its place was a park that the next generation of kids will have to fill their memories. Instead of the school, and a winter-only sledding hill, this is a full-blown summer park. Apparently splash pads are a thing. Safer than a pool (at least for drowning) and still built to keep you cool in the heat of the summer, there's a big ol' splash pad here that's built for the little ones to stomp around and get wet. Bring the sunscreen. As others have mentioned, there's a lack of shade here, so you'll want to protect yourself from the sun. And it's probably best as a weekday reprieve. It swarms with kids on the weekends and you might get elbowed around. Beyond the splash pad, you've got some playgrounds that are geared towards different aged kids, some courts, and a whole lot of grass. This park covers the bases for lots of kids of different ages and will surely be one of the places to provide them with fond childhood memories.

The collaboration between the city and these nations are cool to see in the art pieces displayed. It takes a lot of coordination to do something like this, and it is incredible to see. People also bike on the paths, so be careful to watch for each other. The trails weave in and out of the trees, mostly in the shade, although there are some parts of the trail that are in direct sunlight-so wear your sunscreen. At the trailhead, you'll find a parking lot and a restroom. There's plenty of space for your to wander and enjoy nature. I'll see you on the trail.

It was a bit hazy when we went and it was still breathtaking so I can only imagine what it looks like on a clear day!
