Although I've never stayed at the Omni Houston Hotel, I've been here for so many events. Weddings. Baby Showers. Bridal Showers. Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. Charitable Fundraisers. Galas. Went recently for a Sunday Brunch to celebrate a special family occasion. Loved the Wedge Salad bar with so many choices. Start with little gem or baby iceberg. Add blue cheese, cheddar or feta cheese. Add veggies. Tomatoes. Cucumbers. Shredded carrots. Black beans. Roated corn. Top it off. Walnuts. Pepitas. Hard boiled eggs. Chicken cubes. Dress it with buttermilk ranch or balsamic vinaigrette. So delicious. Grab a Momosa. I made my own mocktail using Perrier, mango puree, and a splash of cranberry juice. All of those virtual Yelp zoom events really have taught me how to mix the most delicious mocktails when the bartenders don't have alcohol free options. Get more veggies. Love the roasted rainbow carrots and Brussels sprouts. Amazingly, the Democratic Republic of Congo team was at the hotel for the last family gathering that I attended. So nice to talk to some of the members of the delegation about the team's historic Cinderella story. So happy that they felt welcomed during their stay in Houston. We have stayed at this hotel as a family of 4 at least 4-6 times over the past few years. Initially we liked the location and the ease of parking. While the lobby looks nice and provides the vibe of a luxury hotel, the rooms certainly do not. The decor and amenities are straight outta the 80s - probably the last time the rooms were outfitted. With each time we have stayed here the accommodations have gotten worse and worse. The once nice pillows have been downgraded to flat prison-like pillows. There used to be all sorts of snacks complimentary in the lobby. On this last visit there was absolutely nothing. Nobody says hi or greets you at front desk nor going in and out of the main doors. We were only provided 3 towels as a family of 4. You would think housekeeping would at least take note of the 4 toothbrushes! They did not even really turn over the room except making the bed - no wiping down of sink etc and one day left us NO TOILET PAPER! I am getting really tired of these hotels charging more and providing less. Newsflash: if you keep people's rooms nice and tidy and provide them with toilet paper to do their business, that is the bare minimum! It is a shame because as Austin residents we go to Houston pretty often and would love to have a home base in Houston but sadly, we have given this hotel multiple opportunities to make it right and it has just gotten progressively worse. read more

The perfect lil staycay! I booked a two night stay here as I needed to utilize my AMEX platinum hotel credit before it expired. I wanted to relax, get some work done, and just rest. This location provided that and more. It is nestled up quite a bit away from main streets. Which honestly is perfect because you don't hear all of the traffic and chaos. It is as if you stepped away into complete solitude. Plus, there is an upside perk because the hotel does provide a shuttle that will take you up to 3 miles from the location. So if you are wanting to go and explore the surrounding area, you can do that! Best of both worlds right? Also, if you live in the area and it is within the 3 mile radius, you can have them pick you up from your apartment. That way you can avoid the paid parking. Even though they did tell me you can use your $100 credit towards that. Nonetheless, the staff was amazing from beginning to end. Everyone left a lasting impression. From Ebony at the front desk is as she surely went above and beyond out of her way to make sure my stay was pleasant. Exceeded expectations! To Hebert and Carlos and dining. Along with Yaimara as well! Those names stood out to me from beginning to end. There were other people who made lasting impressions so honestly shout out to the entire staff! I used my Amex platinum during the stay and found it odd that the breakfast credit ($60) and $100 credit in general couldn't be used for gratuities on services. Although, I guess it just means you can order more food since it doesn't eat up that part of the bill! Regardless, it's like water under the bridge. Thank you Omni! Gorgeous hotel! It's quite busy here with visitors.. we came here for a GALA. Valet provided excellent customer service! They are on their A game! Never seen some fast runners fetching cars! This hotel has it made! The self parking is a brief distance right across the walkway! Valet is super fast! You won't be disappointed! Valet is the way to go! These guys are fast! The Omni, despite being in the midst of a relatively bustling part of Houston, manages to tuck itself into a quiet pocket: a small view of the Bayou, a cute pond, and a nice pool. We knew nothing about Omni when we booked - we just needed a quiet spot to try out a vacation soft launch for our newborn. We appreciated the upgrade to a larger corner king room which allowed us to have ample space for a pack and play. While the room size was nice, the furniture and bed were a little uncomfortable and could use upkeep as well as more detailed cleaning in the bathroom. There were dried contact lenses on the floor and hair in the tub. The staff graciously provided an upgrade on arrival (thank you AmEx!) a large room which ended up feeling almost necessary for our newborn's pack and play and setting up a changing station. The bed was a bit too soft, and the pillows weren't as firm as might be ideal. The shower had great pressure. Unfortunately, all of the bath products (even the soap) had lavender, and therefore became completely unusable as my partner has a lavender allergy (which is also why we carry our own products but always a bummer when everything becomes unusable). The blackout curtains work great and nearly block out all light even in the middle of the day. The hotel also makes an effort to elevate the experience for all guests with flavored water in the lobby and refreshments for everyone during the day. Unfortunately, despite these efforts one major frustration still stands - the parking cost feels fairly absurd. Nearly all around this part of Houston parking is usually free. The pocket experience Omni has created is nice, but over $30 per night is an incredibly high cost to bear, especially when there are no meaningful activities or food within walking distance. This additional cost should be more explicitly disclosed at the time of booking. The outdoor/pool facing ambiance could be a little more elevated as well. All in all, potentially worth checking out, depending on what you are in town for. read more

This hotel is beautiful and it was great to have our conference here love the fact that I didn't have to commute to a conference from another hotel. Everyone I've met from the front desk person, housekeeping, restaurant servers, valet, to the shuttle drivers and they've all been so helpful and kind. The room is awesome and so usable... Probably one of the best rooms we've had recently. The restaurant is called Birdie's and they're usually open till 11 PM... They serve breakfast lunch and dinner... I believe that breakfast ends at 11 AM... The food is very delicious and plentiful... So we have shared several meals there and I just love love love the baby greens. The salad & dressing are so fresh.. Check in process was so easy with options to check in earlier for a small fee. The pool is nicely maintained... There are two pools and one is warm and one is cool... There is no hot tub... But that didn't matter the warm pool was sufficient. The conference room that we were in was nice and updated with great lighting, and it was a good event. All in all, we will be back The only thing I would say is the reason why it got four stars and not five is because there is only one restaurant and no real gift shop... They have a little gift shop area right next to the check in area. If they had those two things, this would be a five star. read more

Had a very comfortable stay at the Omni for my birthday weekend. We were greeted with a great valet staff and bellman. They also offered complimentary champagne at the front. Stayed for three days, two nights. Enjoyed the pool area with friends. Fairly large pool and a lot of space for others. Only two private cabanas and you have to walk up the stairs to go to the bar. Bartenders were very busy and didn't have help in the scorching sun so they weren't paying attention to newly standing guests waiting for a drink order. Servers coming to you at the pool were very nice though and delivered your drinks once you were able to start a tab. My husband enjoyed the gym and we both enjoyed room service food. Very clean hotel, smaller restaurant at the main floor and we didn't get to enjoy the black swan which we heard was nice. read more

Impeccable service awaits! The Omni Houston hotel is a real treat! Every member of their staff is ready and willing to assist with making your stay pleasant and memorable. We booked a last minute trip for New Year's Eve and were glad we chose to stay a few days. We brought our kids and dog and were impressed with the nearby parks and places for them to play. We used the free shuttle to go on close by trips. The driver was prompt and knowledgeable about the attractions nearby. The black swans this hotel has on the property are beautiful and fun to watch. The onsite cafe has a good variety of food that is delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel overall was a great value and a great stay! read more

I did not want to write this review because I really wanted to have a great experience at the Omni Easter Bruch like we have enjoyed many times for many occasions. But, here we go. Pros: The wait staff. From the time we entered the Omni hotel until we left the waitstaff was a five star experience. Our waitress in the restaurant was so great I can not say enough about everyone we encounter at the Omni. Cons: Everything else! Every dish that should have been hot was cold. For the lox and cream cheese they served cinnamon raisin bread. (What!). Who does that? The deviled eggs looked dry and actually were with no flavor. The Prime Rib Roast was cut so there was no cap which made it dry and the roast was waaaay over cooked to you thought you were eating a very low quality roast. The horse radish sauce was good. My husband said the oysters and shrimp were good. The cocktail table was also good. We paid I think $95.00 per person for the buffett. We brought three family members and paid for them. So for over $600.00 with tip we were very, very disappointed and will probably not return after many years looking forward to the special occasion buffet brunches at the Omni Hotel in Houston. read more

Aesthetically it is a lovely hotel. That being said, signage is poor and you often have to ask staff for directions. It is not easy to locate information on their website either. Free wifi as a loyalty member? Info was not provided at check in. Where is the fitness center? Separate building nearby. Just little things. 15 minute line to get seated for breakfast and lunch. Is it surprising? Aren't these peak times they should be prepared for an influx? Staff are great but lots of minor inconveniences. No microwave in room. I truly enjoyed the redfish at the Cafe. The presentation was the perfect welcome to a well-seasoned fish fillet paired with pickled veggies and stone-ground grits. On their own, I would have found the grits quite bland, but it was lovely together with the fish and vegetables. The light sauce was a nice compliment for the fish without competing for the spotlight. The cafe was perfect for dinner. The ambiance was elevated, and the prices were reasonable for a company travel dinner. The staff were professional and polished, which tends to match the Omni's operations. Bellhops/valet are amazingly rude and sarcastic about their own rudeness. WiFi is a pain in the ass to hook up to. They said to pay and they would credit us the fee. I had to shut off every bit of security/privacy, including all firewalls, antivirus in order for the log in page to load and not be blocked by even the most basic security. There were ZERO carts available because valet had them all. I had to park in the garage and carry everything from my vehicle to the room. It took multiple trips. I would not recommend this hotel. WAY overpriced for how you are treated and the services they have. I'd rather stay in a La Quinta. Edit to add. Nothing is complimentary except cookies at check in time and coffee before 6:30. LOL. Oh and some bottled water. If you decide to self park, and it's not free. Beware of the bartenders at the whiskey bar. One of them anyway doesn't like it busy. I had an opportunity to come stay at Omni Hotel for one night a week ago. Staying at a luxury hotel was my restful day after a hectic travel weekend. Getting here was not a big deal since I live in town. But driving around during weekday commute hours was no fun. Check-in process was fairly simple. They held $100 from my credit card for incidental cost, which I charged $9.95 for the WIFI service on one device, only. Speaking of technology, there is no USB charging at the desk's power strip. Hotel is luxury but amenities were lacking. I brought my own phone charger. So, it was not a big deal either. The building is fairly solid and rooms are sound proof. I couldn't hear anyone walking or using water. The rooms are on both sides of building, one facing the pool and one facing the city. My room had a pool view on a high floor. I could see the sunset, which was nice. My room was equipped with Keurig coffee machine with few coffee cups. I brought my own tea bags and I was happy. I didn't get to use the resort-style swimming pool and the 24-hour fitness center. Because I was there to unwind. I wish I stayed during weekend because there are more activities at Black Swan Night Club, Mokara Spa and Moonshot Waterside Lounge. The self-parking fee is covered during my stay. Just use the key card to enter and exit the garage. There was a drop box for me to drop off the card after I checked out. I like the minimum human interaction. p.s. First off, you have to pay $35 to park at their Hotel. Theirs no where else to park and why wouldn't it be free if I'm staying there?! Everything I saw on level 9 was dated back to the 1980's, including our room. The toilets reminded me of my grandparents' toilet and the bed had a big sunken section in the middle. My wife and I kept trying to climb out all night, very bad sleep. They also over-charged us for the breakfast that we ordered, the shuttle bus never came to pick us up after multiple calls, and it was not a pleasant experience staying here. We had to go home to get good rest! I can guarantee that I will never bring my wife to this expensive, uncomfortable, dated, and inhospitable hotel ever again. I was there for a conference. It was a pretty average stay for such a nice property and for what I would expect from the brand. Things I appreciated: Hardly any hotels still put free bottles of water in your room, but they do, which was nice. The rooms are very quiet and the blackout curtains work almost too well! I overslept the first night. The elevator is FAST! I appreciate that since I hate small talk. Speaking of which, the staff and service was mostly great. Including the slightly sarcastic waiter in the restaurant, who we loved and tipped well. Also, firm beds, decent pillows, and pretty good catering food. Things that kinda bummed me out: The "gift shop" is a display case of designer purses and jewelry, but nothing useful like water, aspirin, toiletries or a sweatshirt to survive the freezing conference rooms. There are no stores nearby. There is no coffee kiosk or vending machine that I could see. Just a sit-down restaurant with a very limited menu and a pool bar that was closed the whole time. They could make better use of the nice outdoor spaces by putting out more seating areas. The rooms have wine refrigerators that are room temperature, with a sign telling you they don't get colder. Why? This isn't wine country. I would rather have had a real refrigerator and a microwave, especially since I had to DoorDash my food. I understand a lot of hotels are going scent-free but my bed didnt smell clean. I also found a hair on it, so I had them change it. Still didn't smell clean. And the carpet had a lot of stains. And there was a hole in the curtains. I also asked for a fitness kit for my room, which they advertise on their website and the receptionist said they would bring it but they never did. Disclaimer up front: I stayed here with my wife for a conference she was attending, and largely spend my time working from the room or the lobby, so this review will focus mainly on the common spaces, room, parking etc. We didn't dine in the hotel, aside from some sundries at Birdie's Cafe and Bar. The property is located in the back of an office complex, accessed by a winding road. The arrival/valet area is a fairly good size, and easily accessible. The parking situation is a multi-level garage with card access via room key, or can be paid by time via a ticket. There's ample accessible parking on the first level. It's a bit of a hike, but one can take luggage carts to and from the lot, as I did upon checkout. The lobby area is cozy, with one large table that seats about 8 to 10, with power available for laptops. The remainder of the seating is in pairs or groups of four around smaller tables designed more for cocktails and casual visiting. It's not brightly lit, but not dark, either. Checkin is easy, with the desk located right as you come into the front door. Elevators are nearby as well. Moving into our room, a two queen bed arrangement, we had a view of the pool area and an adjacent office building and parking garage. The room is spacious, with a "coffee bar" in the form of a built in nook featuring a Keurig machine (I travel with a whole setup, so I just moved it over and placed my own gear there). The bathroom is large but not well lit; it could benefit from more lighting. A tub/shower combo gets the job done, with substantial water pressure (so much so that one might have to modulate the pressure with the tub/shower slider) and plenty of hot water. A large entertainment piece features a newer model large screen tv (probably a 65") on top, and a fridge and safe underneath, along with drawers for storage. A comfortable desk is also present, and the TV can be repositioned to be viewable from the desk or either bed The beds themselves were firm at first, but my wife and I both slept comfortably, leading me to believe that there's a foam topper or something else involved, because we're usually uncomfortable on harder beds. We didn't interact with the staff very much, but when we did, they were all friendly and greeted us with a smile. Overall, it was a nice stay, and I'd visit again. read more

We loved our stay at the Omni. Checking in was super quick and we loved the warm pastries at the front desk. For a fee, you can check in a few hours early or half a day early. Our room was spacious enough for our family, though a little outdated (no convenient charging ports and old bathroom). That said, the bed was really comfy and the blackout curtains did the trick! Loved the two pools outside and the music - my kids had a blast and everyone working at the Omni was kind. The kids were given milk at no extra charge which was sweet. Loved the gym! It has its own building which includes the spa. Plenty of cardio equipment in addition to weight machine and free weights. It was never crowded. The food at the Birdie restaurant was delicious though one star less because service was slow at 6.30pm (despite being empty) and despite "kids eat free", we were charged for both kids' meals. We'd definitely visit again though we probably wouldn't fall for the "kids eat free" sign which got us into the restaurant. read more

The BEST vegetarian conference food! Attended for a conference and was pleasantly surprised at the food served. I ate vegetarian for this conference and it, hands down, went above and beyond to make sure the food options were plentiful for all the dietary restrictions in our group. Some highlights: Breakfast veggie egg bites, the Mexican salad bar and tortilla soup, the cauliflower quinoa platter lunch (the star, spicy and sweet). Note: This hotel donates all the untouched leftovers to a local pantry. Your food does not go to waste. Service: This hotel takes safety and security very seriously and made us all feel very comfortable. read more

HOTEL CLEANING STAFF STOLE MY TIFFANY NECKLACE that I had for over 15 years and the security team really couldn't care less. They told me they me they would send me a follow up email by end of day and I didn't receive anything and this was "The Director of security" who I was speaking with. I was told housekeeping didn't see my necklace but they moved the cheap jewelry I had that was on the same desk and placed it all together on a towel near the tv in my room. This is a necklace I can no longer purchase the necklace because it's so old Tiffany doesn't even sell it anymore. I am mad at myself for leaving it in the room. I looked at it before I walked out and started to take it with me and then I thought it should be fine. I've never had anything come up missing from a hotel and I am so sad this is what gets taken. read more

You could get a better night at a dive hotel out by Hobby. This place is extremely dated. In the past I've found branding from other hotel brands that once occupied the space. It sets the tone. "Pay a lot, we don't care". The wifi is bloody awful. After taking 27 steps of trying to sign into my Omni account I give up and using hot spot. For something that is free at 99% of hotels I have to pay $8-14/day. Kiss my a**. Parking is $34 for valet, $24 for self-parking. Again, I'm paying double to sleep here, and you need to rob me for parking and wifi??? The rooms are dated, not enough plugs, coffee maker is hidden away and I had to set it up and plug it in (on a night stand). There are no robes or bottles of water. Hard pass next time on this place. I am staying here for a couple of nights for a conference hand have had nothing but a positive experience so far. The check-in process was a breeze, the staff is friendly and helpful,y room is spacious and clean, and the bed is quite comfortable. I haven't tried the pool, as it's a bit chilly outside, but I've enjoyed using the expansive exercise room. Also, while the food and drinks are a bit pricey, everything has been tasty and the pours are generous. The location, while not very walkable, is within close driving distance to many nice restaurants. As stated, I've enjoyed my time here and haven't had any less than stellar experiences during my stay. I would definitely stay here again in the future. read more

Stayed here a few nights to attend a conference and it was really okay. Upon arrival, my key was already ready as I did a web check in, it was nice as I didn't have to stand in line at the front desk. I assumed they already have water bottles in my room but I had to come to the front desk to pick one up. My room smelled a bit funny. I think perhaps someone smoked there once and slight smell left? They have a complimentary shuttle to within 3 miles but during a peak time, wait could be closer to an hour and I ended up using Uber to get around. Conference catering staff wasn't that professional. I've been to many conferences and I thought they were slow and unprepared and understaffed. Nice size gym on site. Outdoor pool looked nice. One morning their hot water heater broke and we had to take a cold shower. Next day, I noticed shower pressure wasn't consistent. I am not sure if this hotel will be my first choice if my travel brings back to the area but front desk staff really tried and apologetic about issues. read more

So my company booked this hotel for me. The staff seemed "nice", but a bit standoffish. Maybe because of COVID, but I think that excuse is getting old. A few more smiles and friendliness goes a long way. I got up the room and I notice 1. A lightbulb out in the bath room, 2. The door on the TV hutch was loose and hanging down.. The room seems a but dated and in need of a few minor repairs. (caulk in the bathroom, a lash of paint on some of the walls and bathroom door. Early in the morning, i hear the house keeping repeatedly slamming the door on the room next door she was cleaning. For f**ks sake, prop the fricken door open! It's not that hard; a little common sense goes a long way. The food was mediocre at best, honestly, for the price it should have been better. Lastly, why am I paying 9.95 for internet when I'm already paying $230 for a room? I can't say I could recommend this hotel. read more

Rooms are old with few outlets for devices. The food is expensive and not very good. I attended a conference here and there was not enough food for all participants when food was provided. The conference room was always too cold. The speaker system was lousy and it was hard to understand many of the speakers. Other than that the staff was usually very nice. read more

This hotel needs to be remodeled. It is very clean, rooms are nice and big, but has not been updated for a loooonnnggg time... If you plan on charging your phone bring a wall charger, there are absolutely no usb chargers. And the outlets are behind the nightstand, so you'll have to work for it. I mean there is an Ethernet connection in the room in case you brought your Y2K computer with you... For the price of the rooms I think this is unacceptable. read more

Easy check in and check. The pool bartender was super nice, and we had a good experience with him. The pool was kind of dirty and cloudy. There was there was there that was smoking cigars the whole time and threw his empty drink cups in the pool. We tried to order room service, but were told we had to go pick up the food ourselves. Omni Hotel in Houston has a good first impression with its spacious and minimalist chic lobby. The room I stayed in was fine. Clean and everything a standard hotel room should have. It lacks in wall outlets so charging several electronics at the same time could be a challenge. Bathroom has a shower/tub combo. Restaurant is nice but WAY overpriced. Guest service was up to par. Pool area was nice. There is no retail/guest shop for essentials and no vending machines anywhere on the property. And the location being remote to anything is kind of a big downer. There's is PLENTY of room at the lobby level to add a guest shop somewhere. It probably will never happen so plan ahead if you stay there and bring whatever you think you may want/need. Second stay at this Omni and cant really complain. We were there for the New Years party at the Black Swann. The room was nice and comfortable. The view of 610 and memorial from the 11th floor was really nice. The party was ok, the guy at the door was pretty annoying checking IDs every single time! After midnight we enjoyed the DJ in the lobby, much better music than at the swann at that point. Valet was $32 for the night and you could leave the hotel and revalet without a problem. Overall a good experience. They also brought prosseco and cookies to the room before midnight, we thought that was a nice detail. I'm a member with their hotel group and will definitely stay at their hotels again (free WiFi for members!). read more
