Get yourself and your little piggies up early on Saturdays from June through October as the market only lasts from 8 am to 1 pm, and the baked goods sell out quickly. Red Wing's market might be on the smaller side, but it has all you need to live high on the hog. Go ahead and put all your eggs in one basket, along with fresh organic produce, honey products, sourdough breads, cookies, ice cream cones, crafts, and gorgeous flowers. While you shop, enjoy beautiful views of Barn Bluff and the Mississippi River, along with snacks from food trucks like Chef Shack, Firebrick Pizza, and Yummy Eats. If you're lucky, you might visit on a day with live music to turnip the beet, or when Wild Pyle Acres brings a few of their llamas and yaks to the market for the kiddos to meet. Be sure to stop by the information booth, especially if you don't have cash on you. You can use your credit card to purchase tokens--how handy is that? This is also the spot to sign up kids for The Power of Produce Program (PoP). Each child can receive a $2 token every Saturday to spend on fresh produce, teaching them how to make healthy food choices! From tomatoes to po-tah-toes, this market is great place to stock up on un-beet-able artisanal items and produce. It's very easy to spend too much here, leaving you and your wallet crying, "Wee! Wee! The produce was so fresh, attractively displayed and priced so right that I had to stop our impulse buying. This blows away farmers market in or around Madison WI. So much so that I am making it a destination during next year's vacation and bringing an extra cooler to take home fresh veggies to preserve.

On our last day in Minneapolis I happen to notice that we'd be able to attend this Sunday event. Farmers Markets in California all range in size so I didn't really know what to expect for this one - holy cow! It was huge and lots of different local things. They had Minnesota grown produce, handmade products, fresh flowers, baked good and so much more. I was introduced to Ty's Gingseng (https://www.tysginseng.com/) who grows and sells 6 year old ginseng powder - which is very high quality. I also bought relish from Red Ron's as well as some sausage links from another vendor. To be honest I probably could have spent at least 1.5 hours here if I wanted to really study all the booths and check everything out, but we had brunch plans and needed to depart within 45 mins. Being a MN native, I haven't been back to the farmers market in awhile and I must change that!…read more I recently went the other weekend and it was such a great way to start my weekend morning with clothes, food, flowers, produce and the list goes on! Being able to support the community and get such staple items made my heart full. It probably wasn't the wisest choice getting hot soup on a hot day but it was so delicious. There was live music, went into the walk in cooler to take a break from the sun and went back to it. Every vendor was very nice and welcoming, got some treats for my dogs, a freshly made slush coffee, and some hot dogs to end the walk around. I can't wait to come back to grab more fruits and veggies and flowers!

So glad Bev said we needed some tomatoes, gave another excuse to check this place out! I did a quick walk through and there were some favorites that I really enjoyed. One of the best things I had there was this lady's Cherry Rhubarb Jam. She said it was a top seller, so I snagged it, had some later with some bread and even ice cream - wow! It was sweet but not overly sweet, but the flavor was superb! She also had an assortment of breads (Banana, Banana Blueberry, The coffee guy at the end was pretty solid and the coffee was good so I bought some beans. The abundance of apples were a great sight to see, so delicious! The lady at near the entrance makes hot meals in a crock pot and her prices are very reasonable. We were going to dinner so I had to pass on it. Some vendors - the veggies like tomatoes and such were okay. I really wanted to get the jar of sliced garlic cloves in some sweet honey vinegarette but I could not justify paying $15 for it. Eight yes, but not 15. Sorry. if I'm ever back in this area, I will definitely make a visit back to this Farmers Market

I went there seeking some fresh cider for winemaking; I brought my own 5 gallon container and even though they were extremely busy they filled it for me and I only waited about 15 minutes, which they apologized for but I was thrilled, because most places make you drop off the container and come back for it when it's filled. Well, that would have been another 30 mile drive for me so I was very happy to get it and go. The staff was very freindly, and let my two young daughters sample several apples and drink fresh cider while we were waiting. Deffinitely two thumbs up for Wescott Orchard!!! Thank you guys so much!!!
