I will probobly never go back to Hidden Valley Resort. It was a nice room and the slopes were okay but the employees suck, the breakfast wasnt good, the bars/restaurants werent very great. To start, my boyfriend asked for a room with a Jacuzzi suite, the way they answered him made him think that we had it in the room. Therefore booked him for a suite.( which is obviously more expensive) Then they said they were sold out and couldn't book the second night but will put him on a list. They called him one night, left a message and he called back. They said the room was no longer available and will keep him on the list. We got there and they said there is no Jacuzzi suites but we had a fireplace (we had to put 100$ deposit to hold the room, which was already misled because there were no Jacuzzi suites, just at the gym). We were then told that we were booked for two nights, they never told us that so we looked into other hotels for the second night. We were happy about having it but they messed up telling us. Then she told my boyfriend to talk to the manager the next day about the issues because the person that booked the room was new. He called and I believe her name was Beth? it started with a B. She was rude, basically said it was my boyfriends fault and her staff knows what they are doing and didn't do anything wrong and its his mistake for not understanding them correctly with the second night being added. Also said that her staff is not new but added later on that the girl that send the email conf was new.. therefore that was somehow a lie? Her stories didnt match up. She ALSO hung up on him without saying goodbye or saying they are sorry about the inconvenience. My boyfriend doesn't get really rude, so he didn't deserve the attitude. HORRIBLE customer service. I will never go back there again. read more

We went to Hidden Valley for Sunday brunch. I don't like brunches but this place was outstanding. The food was delicious and had so many different items that it was hard to make a choice. I did eat three different desserts and was shocked when I got on the bathroom scales. Do your self a favor and check this Sunday brunch for yourself. read more

Perfect for beginners, as I just started learning to snowboard. I have not been to Seven Springs to compare the two. As far as Hidden Valley is concerned I find the staff inside and outside of the lodge area to be extremely nice and patient. The slopes are covered and well taken care of. We've been lucky the past couple of times to get parking right next to the lodge but I wouldn't consider the rest of the parking horrible. Stop and take a break to eat, they have great food. read more

I've experienced better in the past. I like the old Hidden Valley better before the new management. The snow was good enough then. Don't need new snow machines. The main problem is the new management has jacked up the price with no real discounts. My whole family loves to ski; but with a family of five, it makes it hard to shell out the bucks. Wish they would have a family discount. Under the old management the prices were more according to ages. This management is unsympathetic and I have not found them friendly. The prices are mostly UP; so I probably won't be going any time soon. read more

I don't ski so I can't comment on that aspect of this resort, but I do like to go out on the weekend and eat. Not happening here. There is no good place to go for food and entertainment at this resort. The food isn't very good and the service leaves much to be desired. As far as entertainment goes, you better stick to skiing. Try Seven Springs. read more

If you are planning a SUMMER trip ask about AC. Many of the residences do not have AC at all. Unfortunately we went during a heat wave and it was almost impossible to sleep upstairs; It really impacted our stay. Choose a place with AC. We left a day early. read more

This review is for resort lodging - in one word TERRIBLE!! Asthma and allergy sufferers beware!! Absolutely disgusting. Old dirty trampled carpeting, dusty walls and floors - blatantly ripped furniture- 70s decor - the bad kind. Should I post my pics? Our feet stuck to the tile, the carpeting had visible salt footprints and puddles on it everywhere!! I went and asked for another room. It smelled a little cleaner but still very outdated and sad. Forget the complimentary breakfast - yuck. Could they spare it? I was embarrassed to be there, and the look on the faces of other visitors said the same- shame. Maybe a day trip is fine to hit the slopes with little kids, but please please don't stay here. On the way home we noticed a brand new express inn near the turnpike exit - stay there. read more

Overall this ski weekend was rather disappointing. We made reservations for a four night stay and were quoted a rate for lodging. We later got a call from John the Manager changing the lodging rate quote. Mountain conditions were good considering the warm weather temperatures in the region...(temperatures in the 40s) until Saturday night. Overzealous snow making made for poor ski conditions on Sunday. We witnessed many falls and injuries. Customer complaints were rampant lift lines, at the ski rental office and at the Glaciers restaurant. Renting the two bedroom condo close to the ski lift served to be the best option as it provided more amenities than staying in the hotel. Glaciers Pub was busy and the servers did their best to accommodate the crowd. Thanks to our servers Jeremiah and Keith. Unfortunately there were not enough of them and the kitchen seemed overwhelmed. The wings were a hit and should be added to the regular menu and not just available on Wednesday and Sundays after 3pm. The live entertainment, Denise Baldwin, was enjoyable and a nice alternative to the big screen hockey game. read more

Make sure you get a confirmation before arriving. Booked a room for Saturday, 21 August but reservationist got mixed up and booked us for Friday, 20 August. If Hidden Valley Resort's treatment of guests in distress is any measure of its future survivability, it will not be around much longer, esp given the competition in the area. Made Saturday, 21 Aug reservation by phone with credit card deposit but did not get email confirmation. Phoned a day later and re-requested email confirmation but still did not receive it. Upon arrival, learned that reservationist mistakenly booked us for Friday, 20 Aug in spite of confirming by phone - twice - before arrival that booking was Saturday. I wasn't too uptight about not getting an email confirmation since this was rural Penn and these folks usually really go out of their way to take care of visitors, taking pride that you are visiting their cherished part of the US. Nevertheless, all rooms were booked Saturday, leaving us to find another accommodation at 8 pm on a busy Saturday night in an unfamiliar area. HV Resort also did not know the status was with all its rooms: front desk clerk mentioned that she had a room where a guest was supposed to have checked-out but their belongings were still in the room - at 8 pm! Clerk refused to vacate the room for us in spite of our need and the guest having gone way past their check-out time. The clerk mentioned alternatives in the area but did not phone on our behalf. Instead, she watched us phone from the lobby. We ended up booking a room at a more expensive resort 20 min away. HV Resort refunded us the deposit later with an apology but would not accommodate our request to be comp-ed for a future visit or pay the difference between resorts for the lost time and inconvenience. I phoned the HVR reservation manager Monday. He claimed not to be empowered to offer any future comp room or to fund the difference. He deferred instead to another senior manager who did not make time for him all week. When I suggested to the reservation manager that I would post here about my experience, he seemed fine with it. read more

Went there Jan 2 and 3rd, 2012 with the family. They offer fantastic deals and have easier slopes $50/person - 2 day lift tix, 2 day equip rental, lessons and hotel = how can you say no to that! Although they don't have anything like 7springs' stowe or tyrol or giant steps slopes, or a high speed lift, they do have some nice runs and more lifts - never had to wait in line but only about 5 times over 2 days and then it was never more than 15 people ahead - it took 10 minutes to do a complete cycle - ski and lift back to top. 7 springs will shut down the run while they are making snow,while Hidden Valley keeps them open. Stayed in a suite with fireplace and ate at the clock tower restaurant. Food was good - ample portions, they overcooked my strip steak,but it was still good. My biggest complaint would be that it takes too long to get equipment on a busy day. It's a really small locker room where you try on your boots. Staff is freindly and helpfull. Definately more begginners go here - kids/teens falling right on the lift exit, one teen forgot to get off the lift and almost went back down, but they are really watchful and slowed the lift when people indicated they needed a slow exit or stopped the lift and helped get the people off the chairs/out of the way - and still the lift lines never got anything like at 7springs. (ps. we hit 7springs 12/29/11 and they only had a few runs open, given limited runs. Looking at what 7springs had open on 2nd and 3rd, Hidden Valley is the way to go - at least until they get the north face open. We have stayed at Hidden Valley a few times. We always stay at the Four Seasons Lodge. We always get the rooms with the fireplaces. You are nice and toasty. We really enjoy The Glacier Bar. It had has the best pizza and its a great place to hang out. We don't ski yet so we can't say anything about that but we feel it is a wonderful place to stay. read more

My fiance and I went to Hidden Valley for a weekend getaway. We had a great time snowboarding but had a terrible time with the lodging. We stayed at The Inn at Hidden Valley and we had numerous complaints. When we walked upstairs to our room we instantly noticed boot crusted footprints all over the carpet. We then noticed a giant rip in the couch right down the middle. About an hour later we noticed bees crawling around on the carpet. I went to take a shower but the shower head sprayed everywhere but on me. We decided to watch TV in our room before we went out for the night and when I put my back against the headboard I was poked by nails coming out of the headboard. We went to the front desk to let the staff know of our problems we encountered but were told to come back in the morning to speak to a manager. The staff let us stay in a room with bees crawling around thank goodness neither my fiance or myself is allergic. We went to speak to management in the morning and was greeted by the managers poor attitude and was told the boot prints are from the cleaning staff and the couch they knew about but the new one is on back order. The manager said she will let maintenance know about the bees and the headboard. She did not offer us an immediate solution or any guidance in our problems we encountered. The morning we checked out we were refunded some of our money but were told by staff they did not know exactly why we were receiving a refund. This is a great ski resort in terms of skiing or snowboarding but if you decide to stay here do your homework on lodging read more
