Luxury experience.... Nemacolin is a place of awe offering so many amenities, views, activities, and much more. I stayed in the Chateau which did a fantastic job of integrating its artwork throughout while complimenting its architectural design. It felt as if I entered a historic museum. Butler service started the moment you get past the security checkpoint at the main entrance. Car valeted, bags to your room, and a bath can be ready for you. All and I mean all of the staff were super friendly and hospitable. There is a cigar lounge and shop that has a decent selection of spirits and cigars. Outdoor seating is also available on the massive patio area which connects to the lobby bar. For the sake of exclusivity I did not post the room interior. I did stay in the king bedroom which had multiple chandeliers, fully digital control operated lighting, curtains, and tv from the iPad. There was a proper coated iron tub which your butler is willing to make for you. Just call and request. The toilet was definitely what you'd expect in a luxury room, Fully automated, climate controlled seat, adjustable water temps and pressure, massaging, UV light, and several other features. In short walk up to it, handle business, still wipe yourself, and walk away. The shower had plenty of space and offered the waterfall/overhead feature most ideal for washing hair. The bed was comfortable and cooling. I do recommend ordering from the pillow menu. As a bonus there is a sweet treat brought to your room every evening. There is a menu for wake up call and refreshment service in the morning. Make sure you put the time in thirty minute increments. When I doubt rely upon your butler service. The housekeeping provided was excellent and comically enough it seemed everything I got out the bed and left I came back it was fully made. I was very appreciative of that. We recently did a long summer stay at Nemacolin with two families (kids aged 7-15). We stayed in "The Homes" (2-bed, 2.5-bath), which felt like upgraded ski lodges and worked perfectly for a family layout. However, parking at our lodge was a constant battle as staff members frequently took up guest spots. The resort has fun, quirky artwork and a great commitment to sustainability (the bee sanctuary was a highlight), but it is a mixed bag overall. The animal exhibits left us feeling a bit uneasy, as the animals seemed depressed. Service was also inconsistent. While the staff was generally nice, it was clear they need better training on luxury guest hospitality. Service took a major nosedive during prime dinner hours, and bars frequently ran out of signature ingredients. The dining was our biggest letdown. At Fawn & Fable, we were plagued by fruit flies/fungus gnats during dinner. The cocktails were easily the best on the resort, and the prime rib was good (though unmemorable), but my brother's steak was completely overcooked. Gusto!, the Italian spot on campus, was fine but ultimately forgettable. Nemacolin is an interesting place with plenty to do, and I can see it being a magical winter wonderland with snow. But right now, it lacks the execution and polish to justify a luxury tag. read more

We recently stayed for two nights in the Chateau building. While the room itself was nice and met basic expectations, the overall experience fell incredibly short for a luxury resort. Here is the breakdown of our stay: The Room & Bedding The bed was extremely uncomfortable, which was especially difficult for my husband who recently underwent back surgery. The standard pillows were awful, but luckily they have a "pillow bar" with eight different options. Being able to swap them out was a saving grace, but the mattress itself left a lot to be desired. Room Service Completely out of the question. Despite advertising 24/7 availability, we tried calling to order food and were left waiting unanswered for 10 minutes just ringing on two separate occasions. Talk about inconvenient. The Butler Service While the staff was pleasant, the execution was a mess. We had a late night at the Circle Bar and planned to sleep in, specifically scheduling our morning coffee delivery for 8:30 AM since we were traveling without our kids. Instead, the joke was on us: we were abruptly woken up at 6:30 AM by a butler delivering someone else's coffee and milk. Once disrupted, we were wide awake for the day. Dining: Hit or Miss (Mostly Miss) Fawn and Fable: The steak was great, but the sides were a disaster. The potatoes and broccolini were completely undercooked--serving raw potatoes at this price point is totally unacceptable. Service was also lacking, and our water glasses sat empty almost the entire meal. Aqueous: A major disappointment for breakfast. I ordered the huevos rancheros (one of my favorites), and the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a cheap tomato can. My husband's breakfast was mediocre at best, featuring burnt bacon. (Seriously, how do you burn bacon?). Our waiter was completely MIA, and the food took forever. On top of that, we overheard a waitress at the next table comparing the restaurant's bread to Aldi. That is exactly what you want to hear at a self-proclaimed 5-star resort. Circle Bar: This was the highlight of our trip. It offered average food but by far the best service and drinks, likely because we chose to sit directly at the bar. The Peak: Average food paired with average service. It felt like something you would expect from a standard chain restaurant, not a luxury property. Summary: For the price and the reputation, the lack of attention to detail in both the service and the kitchens was incredibly disappointing. read more

I'm sure this is an amazing resort if you don't care about things like accuracy, honesty and basic integrity. We came here interested in a stay after signs along the road eluded to this being the inspiration for some of Monet's work. I was intrigued and confused because Monet never traveled to the United States as far as I know. Once we arrived, I was able to locate the sign pictured below which states "Some say this very pond is home to the inspiration site for French artist Claude Monet's iconic water lilies painting "Nympheas" (1906) which sold at a London auction in June 2014 for $54 million dollars." First of all, t is grammatically redundant. No one uses the dollar sign and types the word dollar after the number. More importantly, however, it is purposefully misleading and demonstratively not true. Monet spent his life in France and painted those works based on the gardens he personally designed and cultivated at his home in Giverny. He never traveled to Pennsylvania, and would certainly not have gone there looking for inspiration. Attaching Monet's name to something with no historical basis is dishonest and lazy, and should make anyone reading these reviews question what else about this place is exaggerated or fabricated for effect. The sign goes on to read "Want to see more exclusive art pieces from some of the world's most famed artists? Contact Nemacolin at 724.329.8555 to tour our multi-million Hardy family art collection." So first they use "$"/"dollar" too many times and in the next sentence they leave it out completely? What a mess. Who is in charge of this marketing and why would anyone want an art tour from a place that demonstrates such a fundamental misunderstanding of art history? If you're charging premium prices, you should at least respect your guests enough not to insult their intelligence with claims that fall apart after a basic Google search. From the moment you pull up to Nemacolin, you can feel the five star service. Every single staff member we met was so kind, welcoming, and eager to make our stay special. The moment I got there, the valet took my bags out of the car for me and parked my car. I was greeted with a glass of sparkling and I remember my butler said "life is about to be really good." The rooms are gorgeous, spacious, and comfortable with so many little touches that make you feel spoiled. Every morning, I had coffee delivered to my room by the butlers and every evening the staff turned down my room and made it super cozy. Honestly, it's the kind of place where you never want to leave. I loved that the TV had upcoming events and things to do around the resort. I was absolutely obsessed with my bathroom! I went to Gusto our first night for fantastic service from Vera followed by a trip to Nightcap and was served by Miguel who was so sweet as we watched the show. The next morning I explored the shops and Monica helped me picked the perfect Varley x Nemacolin pullover from their selection. She was so sweet and personable. After the shops, I made my way to the pool to relax for a little and the five star service did not stop. Everywhere I went in the resort, I was greeted with smiles and hellos.I went to the salon before the wedding I had and Kelsey did an AMAZING job on my hair and makeup! I showed her photos on my pinterest and she made my vision come to life. I got my services done earlier in the morning and she let me stop by before the wedding for final touch ups. An angel!!! After the insanely beautiful wedding, I scheduled a massage the next day. It was the absolute perfect way to end my stay. Michael took great care of me and focused on my problem areas during the massage. Years ago, I would have recommended it. Not anymore. Too overpriced for the experience we had. On our most recent stay over New Year's Eve Nemacolin was late checking us in, thus we had to get ready for a wedding in a public bathroom (and the staff knew we had booked with the wedding party). After we were finally in our room after the wedding rehearsal dinner, the beds were not clean (see pics). And I only looked and found out how hair the bed was because I was searching to see why I was sneezing so much. I will say that the wedding reception dinner was beautiful and the food was delicious. The decorations at the resort were also amazing. It was just our room situation that was bad. I did speak with a staff member. They told me multiple times that it was their busiest week of the year. I wasn't going to throw a fit with the girl at the desk because she was sweet and it really wasn't her fault. But in the end, no one really cared. They gave me a tiny tiny bit of money off. And the desk staff admitted that when booking they should let people know that the rooms are used by animals. I also suggested that in between the animals staying, they clean up better after them. read more

I had been here about 15 years ago for a work trip. They have upgraded greatly since then. My family and I wanted a relaxing little getaway that we could drive too, this hit all cylinders for us. The grounds are well kept. We stayed in one of their Washington homes. It was a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath two story unit with a private deck, full kitchen. It was clean and very spacious for the 3 of us. The bed was spectacular! I am a big shower snob when out, I hate these showers that basically drips water. I have to say this was probably the best shower ever! It felt like a full blown massage in there, kudos! There is something for everyone to do activities here. Adults, kids, senior, everyone. We went with the paint pall target shooting. It was a blast. Staff was so friendly and fun as well. We then did an Italian cooking class, and learned to make home made pasta, and prepared ourself a great meal. Then we took a day and sat at the pool with bottle service. The weather was perfect. Pool area is very large. The pool was crystal clear and just beautiful. Again the staff was very attentive and friendly. Big shout out to our great bartender, Jordan, she was absolutely the best! We also did some cosmic bowling. It was fun, the lanes were not the best, but we are not pros so it was fine for us. We ate at several on the restaurants, my least favorite spot was Fawn and Fable. Food was decent, but for the prices I wanted great and service was sub par. Every other spot we tried was delicious and even in house ordering was good! Defintely a pricey experience, but overall I'd say the value to experience was on par. read more

My weekend at Nemacolin was certainly a memorable one! Overall it truly is such a lovely, but also a bit overpriced place. My biggest complaint was that our room smelt overwhelming like cigarettes. Like, it was so strong! They didn't offer to switch our rooms, instead they just brought in some type of machine to try and take out the smell. It worked a bit, but then they had to come back with some deodorizer as well. For what you're paying per night here, you're room should really not reek of cigarettes. The good! The room itself was nice and the beds were comfortable. I also really enjoyed the shower. The grounds of Nemacolin are insanely beautiful. I was there in the summer and it's really impressive all the flower landscapes they created. We also found the shuttle bus super easy to take around the property. We were able to enjoy the pools, the spa, four of the restaurants, grab ice cream, and go mini golfing. Pretty genius to have everything onsite so you don't have to leave. Kind of like Disney World for folks who don't want the rides. We did try to ride the carousel, but it was closed for the majority of our stay. The pools are beautiful and well equipped with chairs, towels, water, and sunscreen. We didn't use the golf course, but saw plenty of groups partaking in that. We did sign up for a skeet shooting session which was memorable. There were still many parts of the hotel we didn't make it to like the zoo, car museum, or bowling. You will spend a ridiculous amount of money, but again it is very memorable. I went with a friend and would definitely go back again. read more

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful two night stay at Nemacolin! We stayed at the Falling Rock property, and I am thrilled that we did! The team was outstanding - the front desk staff, to the butlers, to the folks at Aqueous where we had breakfast, everyone is so friendly, attentive, fun, and professional. The butler service was special touch. With their assistance we had tea service in the room, a special bath drawn, quickly got shuttles, and had leftover reheated. The room was very clean and spacious, and I loved the Dyson hair dryer! (I didn't love the shower. Very soft rain fall. I need more pressure.) Food: One night we had dinner at the Amber bar. Great bar food and excellent service. Alex took excellent care of us! Likewise, we had dinner one evening at Gusto! Gusto! was excellent. We shared the beet salad, meatballs, a margarita pizza, and the olive cake. Delicious! Note that the portions are big. Even though we planned to share, we still had leftovers. The Peak: the hot tub was fun on a cold night as was bowling and the other games! In general, I'm thrilled that we stayed at Falling Rock. It was tranquil and relaxing. We also enjoyed the services at the Holistic Health Center. I liked being tucked away. We did visited the other properties. The Chateau has a Las Vegas feel to it - in a fine way but a bit gaudier like Las Vegas. read more

On Sunday, February 22, 2026 my girlfriends and I were looking for much needed spa days at Nemacolin. There were 3 of us. We had previously stayed there 2 years ago and had a wonderful experience. Upon arrival at the Grand Lodge we were told our rooms were not ready. No special greeting or a glass of champagne. We went for our spa services which were wonderful. After that we went to check in. The rooms we were assigned were not what was promised. We previously had a suite with 2 adjoining rooms with one room having a king and the other room having 2 queen beds. Upon our reservation, we were told we could have the same as before. The 2 rooms we were given had 1 full size bed and 1 queen. This was totally unacceptable. It took the staff 2 hours to rectify the situation. At checkout , it took the manager 30 minutes to fix the bill. We were charged incorrectly. This was not the level of service that one expects at Nemacolin. We will never stay at the grand lodge again. read more

The butler service was amazing, any time my family needed anything they were very quick to get to our room and do whatever we needed. All the in room dining came from the faun and fable restaurant which was incredible. If you don't what to eat in room I highly recommend that restaurant. All the workers were extremely nice and friendly, the drive up to the chateau was amazing. The only bad thing I can say is when I tried to order dinner in room they forgot to actually write down our order, so they didn't make our food and we had to call again and then they were very quick to correct this mistake, but other than that this place was fantastic. 100% will come here again. read more

My wife and I stayed there on 10/24 and 25 in October Of 2025. The service was very good and everyone was more than willing to make our stay extra special. The food at Guesto restaurant was good but very overpriced. This is was the same at Fawn and Fable. I wanted to swim in the pool at the Spa on Saturday and was told I had to book a Spa service in order to use the pool On Saturday's.That simply not a good marketing move. Nemacolin is a wonderful place but since the passing of Mr. Hardy they have really increased their prices over the top in my opinion. Not letting some to use the Spa pool unless you book a service at the Spa on Saturday really did not sit well with me. When your paying over $800.00 a night one should be able to use the Spa pool on a Saturday. read more

FOOD POISONING. Had a meal at Lautrec with our children 2 weeks ago. 2 of them threw up (one several times) a few hours after dinner, which was clearly related to the meal, but were fine by morning. Received 2 phone calls from hotel staff, telling us that their symptoms were clearly unrelated (we are both physicians). Promised a call from a manager, which never came. No responsibility, no accountability. Less importantly, we frequent restaurants with tasting menus - this was a shockingly expensive for a somewhat mundane meal. Not worth the expense, and absolutely not worth the risk of getting ill with the restaurant or resort staff turning a blind eye. The resort itself is actually quite nice, but given their lack of attention to our experience, it is difficult to recommend the property overall. read more

There's a pair of classic car and plane museums, an art gallery, a Kids' Club, a zip line, a ropes course, and so much more. A visit feels like you've been invited into a billionaire's private playground, and that's pretty much what it actually is. Established as a hunting resort in the late 1960s, the property was acquired in 1987 by lumber magnate Joseph Hardy, who expanded it to more than 2,000 acres and opened it as a luxury resort, with a European-inspired grand hotel as its centerpiece. Visiting recently during a company retreat, I was impressed with the unparalleled level of service and the spaciousness of my insanely comfortable room at the luxurious Chateau hotel. The massive Lodge property was under renovation during our stay, but we were still able to enjoy most of the activities, from golf and sporting clays to fly fishing and cosmic bowling. I can't think of many better spots for a corporate retreat, although the 90-minute drive to and from the Pittsburgh airport (the resort is in the middle of nowhere) was a bit trying. Also, the resort is almost TOO big -- the scope of options is simply overwhelming, and the size of the estate makes it challenging to get between most of the different properties on foot (there's a fairly convenient shuttle bus system, though). And for the extravagant prices for the rooms and the dining, you want to take advantage of as much as you can during your stay. It's a memorable experience, but unless you live within a couple hours drive, there are better options for a getaway. read more

Enter: Nemacolin. Driving up for the first time, you can sense you're in for a treat. It feels like you've entered a fairytale or at least have been transported to somewhere in Europe. The colors are brighter, and the birds chirp louder at Nemacolin. It's harmonious and beautiful. Service is unmatched. The room was magnificent. And although I can be a tough one to impress, we were traveling with our corgi who was treated like royalty her whole stay. Every meal, activity, spa trip, all of it was perfect. After a rough 3 years of a pandemic and a noticeable decline in the way the world is functioning, it was SO nice to escape here and truly be pampered for a long weekend. I don't think it's fair to give this place 1 star based on the cost alone. There are so many more options available, even in PA, to match a budget. When you come to Nemacolin, understand it will be expensive and likely you will be splurging. But you get what you pay for and then some! The ultimate in treating yourself. read more

So I had purchased a gift card online with the intentions on being able to book a spa day, as I was trying to schedule a trip they had told me the only way I'd be able to use the gift card was if I book a night stay. I'm somewhat local to "Nemacolin Resort" so a stay wasn't even a thought especially since it didn't say anything like that on their website. Been here many times. Love the place. But the last few years their agenda promoting LGBTQ and Pride has gone too far. This is a family resort. After they hosted the show the Bachelor, they probably started getting more celebs and social media influencers and someone high up either Maggie or her brother may have come up with the idea of pushing the east and west coast progressive agendas and catering to the lgbtq ‍ community but it's gone too far. I love this place and i respect and appreciate all humans of all gender preferences but I don't want my young kids exposed to drag shows and I don't appreciate having to explain to my young kids these complex issues that should be discussed later in life. I'm sad to hear Mr. Hardy passed away. I don't know how much of this he'd have approved. But a resort in central PA needs to stick to being a resort and not be promoting any agendas. What a pleasant visit! What stood out the most, was the consistency of friendly and helpful staff. Everyone we encountered was so nice and it didn't feel forced. The access to different activities and restaurants left us wanting to make a return trip. We came to relax so the spa and pools were our favorite experiences. I also liked trying axe throwing for the first time! We had not one bad meal for our weekend stay. The home was cozy and the shuttle access made everything easily accessible. My wife and I intended to spend a long weekend here with our 2 year old. We ended up checking out a day early due to a multiplicity of issues. Your overall experience will depend on where you stay, what you eat and what exactly you want to do. The Lodge seemed like the most family friendly choice. At $1,300 per night (king with additional sitting area) the price felt high compared to the quality. The room was very outdated and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint, new wallpaper and basic maintenance. Golf was a great experience until making the turn on Mystic Rock ($300). I was sent out solo and enjoying my round until two random foursomes "appeared" in front of me on #10. The course was in great shape and plays well but pace of play turned into a problem. A mix of "local members" and resort guests are expected at these types of places but I can't wait 10-15 minutes between shots. Dining wasn't anything special. "The Tavern" was okay for sandwiches but the hours of operation are short. Skip "Rockwells" if you enjoy steak. Mine was over cooked and when I tried to send it back our waiter argued with me. Room service was comical. My wife called at 6:45am to order my son pancakes and fruit for breakfast. She was instructed to call back at 7:00am because the kitchen was on a "limited menu" until then. The history of the property is interesting. 84 Lumber tycoon Joseph Hardy bought it in 1987. He expanded by 1500+ acres (lots of lumber) and filled the place with random artwork, animals and golf. There are a bunch of pools, zoo animals, mini golf and various other activities to keep you busy. Getting around is dependent on "shuttles" that never answer the provided phone number. Cell service (Verizon) was intermittent. The children's area was old and run down. All of the older parts at the resort felt forgotten. It is obvious that Nemacolin has shifted focus towards "trendy" adult entrainment (reference social media or the Vogue article). The staff was very attentive and professional. We are glad that we went but probably won't return anytime soon. The price of admission didn't feel worth it. Might be a better without children and stick to the "adult only" areas? We thought it would be a fun place for a family and were disappointed. Experiences may vary. read more

So during this Covid quarantine times... this was a much needed getaway! 5 stars for the care and attention to detail. Sanitizers were everywhere. Masks required indoors and temp checks at gate. Definitely made me feel at ease. I loved 90% of my stay at this gorgeous resort. The facility was breathtaking! We partook in bike rides, zip lining, clay shooting, miniature golf and poolside activities. All staff at all locations were exemplary!! Every shuttle driver we encountered was inviting and friendly. Cool bonus was that each shuttle was stocked with cooler/fridge which had beers, white claws, and water (huge score when going to the casino) The casino is not serving alcohol unless you buy food and you must indulge at the dining area only just FYI. My only negatives was the food.... in room dining ( uninspired and tasteless for the price-- $100 for two people -- omelets, sides and coffee-- just saying it is steep) In room late night pizza.... inedible. Poolside poke bowls ... stale rice. We had one decent meal at the grill, but again price point was a little exorbitant for what you can get elsewhere. Overall though, I loved it here. (Not sure why it says San Francisco CA. I'm from Queens NY) Never been to Nemacolin Resort before. Stayed at the Chateau. What a Beautiful Place!! From beginning to end/. Called a couple of times before arriving to change activities and customer service couldn't be better. At a time when customer service is at an all time low the customer service at the Nemacolin is 5+ Stars. A couple of people were telling me "Yeah, but they're acting". Who cares!?!? Whether they genuinely care or not they made me feel like they did. Before the phone call ended they reviewed the activities, the time, the price changes. Made sure it was all to my satisfaction. Awesome!! When we got to The Chateau we were met by a beautiful lady named Lisa. The biggest lie we hear in life is "Everybody is replaceable". You can definitely find someone to replace her....that's the easy part. But find someone with her knowledge, personality, sense of humor, that can't not be replaced. She makes the whole place shine!! Uplifting personality. She took her time to show us around. Where everything is. Every time I seen her she was on the go but never too busy to say "Hello" and made sure everything was okay. She enjoy what she does and truly puts her heart into everything she does. No amount of training a teach anyone that. Looking forward to seeing her again when I return!! Now for a little bit of bad news......Not terrible, more like disappointing was the Casino. Very nice place. The restaurant in the casino was okay. The casino had the usual slot machines, Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, various tables with Poker games. What they didn't was Texas Hold'em Poker tables. I'm sure to many it's not a big deal. I was just disappointed. Other than that the activities at Nemacolin are great! So many to choose from. We did the Big Cat Adventure and the Dog Sledding. What a great time! Just beautiful! This place was super pricey but the rooms food and overall experience was so wonderful. My only complaint is that the staff works together on certain things (like getting your car) and you might tip the one who hands you your keys but then another grabs the door and tells you they did everything. I'm happy to tip service providers but I felt there were some instances were the number of people looking for a tip for a single service, was overwhelming. read more

Nice place. We stayed in the townhouses which was good for us. A word of caution. Almost none of the activities are included in you stay so expect to pay - and pay for every little thing. $20 pp for a yoga class that I feel should be included in your stay. If traveling with kids I recommend Rocking Horse Dude Ranch in NY state. All meals and activities included, including 3 meals per day per guest, horseback riding, skiing, etc. here they wanted to charge my son In law $150 to do a lame ropes course. Meals are super expensive on-property. We're heading off-property for dinner tonight. Service is good but I would say not a good value for what you're paying. Disappointed. We were so looking forward to it. Maybe I'm just not in the right income bracket but I paid a lot of money for my family to stay here. I think we all expected more for our money. read more

Been here a few times - golf tournament, dinner at Autumn (RIP), and most recently Aqueous. Overall the complex is beautiful, the hotel or resort is somewhat daunting driving up to it at night - but the money you'll spend warrants the need for a 5-star experience. From the food options, the golf course being a PGA Tour stop, to all the other amenities that are available and the price tags that they command - it is a 5 star place. Rooms usually go for $250/night, food is about $35-50 a plate, and a round of golf is easily 3 figures depending. There is also a casino right down the street, however I have never figured out if it is part of the resort or not? Still haven't been to that - for whatever reason. Plenty of restaurants too- several I have had and several I haven't gotten to yet. read more

We used to come here 3-4 times a year when we lived in Pittsburgh and have witnessed a transformation over the years. It has been 7 years since we were last here, and it's still beautiful. We asked for a particular room that we love and they were able to accommodate us, which was special. We were celebrating our anniversary and they gave us a bottle of wine, which was wonderful. The weather was beautiful so we were able to take many walks, enjoy the outside pool which was still open, and enjoy time on our balcony. I was a little under the weather and didn't want to infect the spa employees or I would have done a facial and massage as their spa is amazing. We had afternoon tea in the Chateau and it was extremely nice. The server was sweet and the variety of teas from which to choose and the food items were really good. They have added a night show at the Chateau where they play music and perform a light show. If you have never been here, it's a wonderful experience. read more

My husband treated my sister and I to two days at Nemacolin. We stayed in The Chateau. The Chateau was exquisite from top to bottom... sumptious furnishing, opulent flower arrangements, luxurious double queen suite with livingroom facing out to the front gardens and valley! The beds were comfortable and the amenities were generous. The service was extraordinary from the valet parking, greeting, front desk and welcoming champagne. Our every need was pampered to! The Mercedes Van was available 24/7 and we toured the grounds....visiting the Peak, the Wild Animal Park, the Minature Golf Course, the art museum, the casino, the horse stables and more! The van drivers provided interesting facts about Nemacolin. Our spa afternoon was top notch and accessorized with robes and slippers, chaise lounge room and refreshments, beautiful spa rooms, salt room, steam room, spa pool etc. Our hot rock massages were perfect in every way! Our pedicures and manicures were just great! Then there was dinner....we had reservations at ROCKWELL'S. We were totally disappointed in this restuarant. The room smelled stale- like a school cafeteria....the appointments and furnishings were worn and dated...the lighting dull. We were seated in a "corner" table. The hostess, servers, and wait personnel were unorganized... and we waited quite a while before anyone came to our table after we were seated. We shared with our server that we were celebrating my birthday and desired to enjoy a lovely mulitcourse meal without being rushed. We were assurred such. We ordered cocktails and the Gaufrettes to start. Bread and butter was also served. The Gaufrettes were very greasy and overly seasoned....before we were done with our cocktails our Traditional French Onion Soup arrived....the soup was unedible....it was greasy and extremely salty...! We ordered two glasses of wine to go with our dinner of: New York Strip Steak / overcooked and dry / we requested medium rare Grilled Peppers / blackened crispie on one side / unedible Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chops / these were raw and luke warm Loaded Baked potatos/ the jackets were burned black Sauteed Wild Mushrooms/ these were room temperture and unseasoned Strawberry Shortcake/ a really dense and weird confection The food was hurriedly served....and not in a slow way as we had requested. We brought all of these problems to our waitperson's attention and she apologized heartily....and did remove the French Onion Soup from our bill. At the end of the meal, when asked again by our waitperson about our meal, we detailed the above problems. She brought the manager over. The manager was also very polite and apologetic and removed the potatoes and mushrooms from our bills....which were not eaten as they were burned.... So, the bottom line. Do not ruin your Nemacolin experience by dining at Rockwells! There is a LOT wrong there and not up to the standards and ethos of the Nemacolin Resort and Spa. Theme of the week...Disconnect between expectation and Reality Brought our Family to Nemacolin for Spring Break in March (2024). We were somewhat concerned with the Spring forecast for SW PA upon departure. But to our surprise, the weather actually exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, the Nemacolin experience did not. Weather wise we got to experience snow, cool weather, sun, warm weather and a touch of rain over our 5 nights/six days. Our Family of 6 stayed at the Washington Townhomes. These were 'once' nice, but are in need of either major updates or complete remodeling. The layout and use of space is well thought out, but the stained carpets, out of date appliances, uncomfortable beds/pillows, tiny shower in master bathroom, and flimsy flooring are not what we expected as part of the Nemacolin experience or price being charged for accommodations. From a marketing perspective, Nemacolin does an amazing job of portraying the resort as 'magical.' As far as service, Nemacolin does an adequate job. Essentially everyone that works at Nemacolin appears to be working here as a side gig while they are going to college. Which is great for the kids making some money to support themselves and their ambitions. However, other high end resorts usually have professional 'long timers' that have been at the resort for years. Could it be that it was the time of year we visited? In regard to activities at Nemacolin, there seems to be a disconnect between prices and quality of the actual activity. Activities were limited since again we were visiting during a very 'slow' time. And, yes, we looked at the prices of the activities prior to arriving... still...the high ropes course was $150 per person for 1 hour on the course. Needless to say, this is overpriced by $60-75 per person. The girls gym was $80 per person for 90 minutes. Both were adequate, but nothing spectacular and don't justify the cost. We did rent fishing poles from the Rod and Range Club.. and I must say that Mike and Pete over there are GREAT! Very personable and knowledgeable. At $30 per day for each rod/reel, bait and tackle box... this was the only thing we saw that was priced appropriately. Unfortunately, every activity we looked at appeared to be a money gouge so we mainly stuck to doing things as a family (fished in PJ's pond, hung at The Peak's pool, games, hiked around the property, went to Ohiopyle SP). We did try the putt-putt course and it had not received maintenance in quite a while. From the first hole on, balls got stuck in tubes because of leaves/rocks and the artificial turf is awful. Dining wise, we planned to eat primarily in the townhome since we are a family of 6. We did eat at the Peak twice. The first evening was GREAT! Food was pricey but worth it for its quality. Second day there had to be a different cook, because we ordered some of the same meals and it was definitely not the same ... chicken was chewy on salads, kids chicken fingers were over cooked/burned and pizza was undercooked. Again, prices of the food should require delivery of high quality eats every time. Lastly, Nemacolin is a beautiful place and certainly has its niche for being a hidden gem in the Laurel Highlands... but, it is way overpriced for the actual experience, activities and service it provides. Maybe it was the time of year we visited, but we were somewhat disappointed. All in all our family made the most of our time at Nemacolin and are grateful to have made memories being creative with our time. read more

Nemacolin is now designed for the 1%. The room costs have escalated 3 to 4 hundred percent, with Chateau rooms seen for as high as 1700.00 a night. For a family to puchase a visiting membership it is now several thousands of dollars I have been a loyal customer of Nemacolin since only the Lodge existed and it truly was a wonderful place for us to visit several times a year, but no more. It is indeed sad that Nemacolin has escalated itself to a place where all but the extremely well off can stay to be be even more pampered read more

Overall, a very pleasant experience. We stayed at falling rock. The room was gorgeous and the ground expertly manicured. Our butler was awesome and accommodated our every need. The weather wasn't the most cooperative but we were able to log some time at the infinity pool which is beautiful. The service at the outdoor dining spot was excellent on our second day, but below average on our first. The spa had limited availability but they were able to accommodate a pedicure and massage, so we were pleased. As for the meals- We stayed following our wedding for a mini-moon (during COVID) and were told that "pretty much everything was open." This was not true. We had planned on casual dining the first evening but the only places open required a reservation. The resort was nice enough to get us in at Rockwell's, however it was after the restaurant would normally be closed. The staff and server rushed us through dinner, the food prep was imperfect and overall just ok. I had a steak and my wife had fish, which was good. The sides were cold and again, we were rushed out. The second evening we dined at aqueous, which was fantastic. Steak and fish again with salads and appetizers, a great bottle of wine- exceptional experience. The serving team was attentive and kind. We were there for 2.5 hours. Can't say enough about the experience. I ultimately would give the experience at 4.5 stars but I went with 4 as I didn't feel that they were transparent about availability and the experience at Rockwell's left a bad taste in my mouth. Five stars is not enough. My husband and I travel in and outside the country and try to stay in - when available- the Ritz or Four Seasons. Sometimes we are forced to stay in other venues. In one hotel, the room was so dark I visited Marshalls and bought five lamps to see. At another hotel for this year's Belmont, I have already hired a cleaning team to scrub the floor. I saw no one on the cleaning staff with floor tools to wash ($1500.00/night). One housekeeper mentioned they only vacuum the hardwoods. In Florida, the hotel furniture was so stained ($1200 / night) that I was sick to my stomach. In Iceland, our hotel was so filthy that we kept our coats on while in the room. We ended up paying $700 for a three hour (not full) stay and immediately hopped on a flight back to Dulles. We also stay in the 1500 square foot cabin called the Owners Suite for our Viking cruises. We were tentative booking Nemacolin because we did not know what to expect. We made a mental note that if it was sub par we were driving back to our home. How wrong we were. What a delight in loving every second here for the few days of Christmas. The room is magnificent. When poorly accommodated hotels cheer having a plastic coffee maker, we have a professionally decorated tree and view that makes you pray for the glory of God. Extremely clean and superbly decorated room. The same with the entire resort. This will become our home away from home. So many activities- shooting range, swimming, skiing, bowling, rock wall, museums, zoo. It is unbelievable. Score 10 x 1000! Thank you Nemacolin and owners. My husband and I do not want to leave! I will post pictures after our brunch. (And if we purchase another home, I want the name of your decorating team!!! Simply classy and stylish and I cannot stop staring at everything! ). We booked a stay here to enjoy a little babymoon and I'm really glad we did. It couldn't have come at a better time and I was glad to finally check this place out. I feel like because of the price, this isn't a place you just pop into. I'm sure most know, this is NOT a cheap place to stay. I'm used to a "resort" being a tropical vacation aka an all-inclusive. This definitely isn't that, because you're not going to see any palm trees and everything around you is going to cost extra... But it's a massive property with lots to do on the grounds and in the Laurel Highlands. I couldn't help but compare this to Bedford Springs, as they're similar in terms of being close to Pittsburgh and also considered resorts. We picked the "cheapest" option, which wasn't cheap at all, and stayed at the Lodge. This was the only part that I found disappointing. It's outdated for sure, and once you enter the room I wouldn't say it matches a "lodge" aesthetic at all. It's more outdated Victorian style. The bed and pillows were horrible. I woke up every morning with a neck and back ache. The showerhead was also terrible. Just a cheap Holiday Inn style shower. While the room was big and I guess "fancy" looking, I would rather have it be smaller, more modern and have a comfy bed and awesome shower. There is an in room Keurig, so if that's your thing, you'll be happy. The food for the most part is stellar. We had an amazing experience at Lautrec. Again, very expensive, but between the delicious food and special experience you get there, it was worth it to me. We also ate at Aqueous, which I also enjoyed. I was jealous of the boutique hotel there. It looked gorgeous. But again, more expensive than our room. The spa was wonderful and cozy, just what I want in a spa. I got a facial and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also just stayed and hung out by the fire on the comfy chaise lounges for a while. They had tea, snacks and reading materials, so you could totally make a day of just hanging at the spa. Plus there's an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub. They have two medium size outdoor pools. One I'd call the kids pool with a slide, but also has a swim up bar. Probably a win for parents with kids! There's also an adult only pool, which I appreciated. They had their own bar, but it wasn't swim up. We ate at the restaurant by the pool, The Tavern, for lunch. It was just okay. Probably the most disappointing meal there. It wasn't bad, just nothing to rave about. The building alongside the pool has multiple shops inside, mostly clothing, but a it looked like one toy store too. Plus, there's an art studio and ice cream shop that serves local Pittsburgh ice cream, Millie's. There's also an indoor kids pool in the building. I will note, while we weren't there with our child, it seems like a great place to come for the whole family, again, it just won't be cheap at all! We stayed two nights, and I thought it was perfect. The only thing is you can't fit everything in with just two days. I would have liked to have eaten at the steakhouse and Italian restaurant, but there wasn't time. I also saw there was putt putt and real golf. Plus, it's so close to Falling Water, that's a must stop if you've never been. I know I'm missing so much, but there's a lot to do and see. Overall it was a very nice stay. I do think it is crazy expensive and I don't know if I could justify bringing the whole family because most of the "extras" will cost you, but it's good to know it's there if you hit the lottery or something! read more

Not a great value for the money, not at all... Yes, it's a fantastic property in a gorgeous location but dollar for dollar? No, this was regrettable. I'm certainly not cheap but the overall behavior of the staff was pretty mid, to be honest. I felt like I was being constantly pressured to tip. Again, I'm not someone who frequents Motel 6s, so I understand service expectations and what things cost but the feel here was just all off... Maybe I did not know what I was getting into? I don't know. I don't really play golf and am not prone to surrounding myself with "influencers..." was a bewildering day overall. Kept asking "Who is this a resort for...?" Food was really not great, certainly not on-par with the price per stay per night (well, 2 nights...) I thought the food was Disney-quality. You know what I mean. Oh well. Good luck. This place is absolutely stunning!! You're treated like royalty the whole time you're here. From the moment you pull up, till the moment you drive away. The customer service here is remarkable and no employee passed us without saying hello and/or asking us how our stay is. The free shuttle service is quick and will take you anywhere on the property that you want to go to. They will even give you a tour around the property. I booked us two nights in the Chateau for my boyfriends birthday/Valentines Day weekend and it did not disappoint. The place is surrounded by wonderful art and sculptures. The chandeliers are amazing and throughout the whole place. There's so much to look at to pass time between activities. We ate at The Tavern the first night and our food was very good. We had breakfast delivered to our room Valentines Day morning and that was delicious as well. I had reservations for Valentines Day at Rockwells and the food was sooooo amazing! Well worth the money you spend. There are antique cars and airplanes to see, an art gallery and even an animal habitat. There's so much to do for anybody's budget. I'm so glad I stumbled across this place and we would love to come back in the summertime to experience everything it has for that season. read more

Let's be honest, this place is in a very small class of resort hotels that command extremely high prices and they work very hard to justify it. For all it's attributes, Nemacolin just doesn't deliver value where it counts. Imagine what you think of as an extravagant investment for a getaway then double it - that will get you in the right mind set. The rooms and the grounds are beautiful, the staff is attentive and polite but in the end, it just doesn't work for the guests. The overall mgt operating policy seems to be built on a Disney model, which is, once they have you on the property, they work extremely hard to contain and control your experience. Getting around is unnecessarily difficult, whether you want to walk, bike or drive. Despite published allusions to walking the grounds and seeing artwork, as one example, there are no maps to guide you and no walking trails to do it on; only roads. What the ....? Signage (esp driving and parking) is sparse and the few available maps are obtuse. Information for anything self-guided is hard to get. By far, the most helpful person we met, including the check-in staff and a concierge, was a shuttle driver. Significantly, our dining experiences were generally average or worse in terms of service, below average in value but with predictable fine dining quality meals at undeserved price points pulled from limited, unimaginative menus. To wit: our $20 mashed potato side come unadorned in a dish that looked like something left at your grandma's potluck. They were runny, gloppy and tasted more of butter and cream than potatoes. I could go on but, hopefully, you get the picture. Go for the experience and the surroundings but don't expect to come away thinking "Wow, I can't wait to spend thousands of dollars to do that again". Even though some people apparently do. read more
