Drinks were fantastic, high end, & food was wonderful, our server Josh was amazing , worth the visit

We have thoroughly enjoyed our amazing short stay. The staff are amazing, the building is gorgeous and I can't say enough about the atmosphere. We enjoyed our meal in Mae's Dining room as well. We can't wait to return in the summer when it is busiest.

Driving between Cinci and DC, we passed the historic Summit Inn and Laurel Caverns and were determined to stop on our return route. The caverns were great and a lunch following was the perfect stop after a day of driving. The location, food, and service were great. We ordered several appetizers for our meal to create a great sampler menu. Everything we ordered was great, I only wish we had saved room for the peach cobbler!

My husband & I are from the Pittsburgh area and come up to Ohiopyle quite often & have driven past the Historic Summit Inn many times. This weekend we decided to stay for a romantic getaway. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a beautiful exterior. Once inside, we were surprised by the grandeur of the heirloom lobby complete with an upright grand Steinway piano from the late 1800s and the grande double staircase complete with original woodwork and stained glass windows. The front desk staff was friendly and informative and made us feel very welcome. We were then given directions to our room. (Insert record scratching noise). We opened the door to our room and you would have thought you had just opened King Tut's tomb. The smell of mold & mildew was overwhelming. We knew it was a historic building & were prepared for the possibility of a slight musty odor that can come with an aged building. However we discovered that the moldy smell was coming from the wall unit air conditioner and not the room itself. Understanding that this was a 118 year old hotel, we were happy to overlook the peeling paint & wallpaper. We made reservations for dinner in the Mae dining room and were looking forward to a nice romantic meal. The hostess was nice & sat us immediately. Our server was very friendly & attentive, but the food left much to be desired. Even though it didn't take long for the food to arrive, it was room temperature & mediocre at best. Against our better judgement, we decided to give the restaurant another chance for breakfast the next morning. There were only two tables seated, so we thought we would be able to eat quickly and head out for our day of hiking & cave exploration. But boy were we wrong! It took a very long time for our server to take our drink order. It took even longer for our food. Two tables that were seated after us got their food before us. All we ordered was eggs, sausage & home fries, which took 45 minutes to arrive. All of the food for some odd reason had a bitter, metallic taste. The sausage was gritty & dry, as if it had been pre-cooked and reheated and the home fries were cold. We loved the historic charm of this hotel, but the food was overpriced and questionable in quality and the wait time was ridiculous for the empty dining room. Several areas of this hotel were in desperate need of cleaning, especially the main restroom off the lobby.

We stayed one night, the night of 6-21-2025. We had a 2 queen bed suite at the very end of the hall on the 3rd floor. We arrived a little early, however we were taken to our room right away, which was nice. *The hotel common areas are beautiful. *There are stunning views, lovely architecture & serene surroundings. *All of the staff were very accommodating and friendly. *The pool and hot tub areas were immaculate, with plenty of lounge chairs and a nice area under roof to relax. All the waters were crystal clear. Some of the updates were clearly done in the 70s and look out of place. *For instance, the bathroom vanity is definitely not from the correct era and is very low, about 30" from the floor to the top of the vanity, as you can see in the photo. This made it awkward when using the sink. The toilet is also quite low. *The shower had plenty of water pressure. *The beds were on the firmer side. *Our room had a very tiny refrigerator, on a stand in the corner. It was quite beat up with large dents in the door and no shelves inside. *There were only a few television channels available, maybe 8 channels. Which didn't bother us, just something we think others should be aware of. *We were on the 3rd floor, there is a lot of steps. Unsure if there is an elevator, we didn't see one, nor did we ask. Again just something others should be aware of. *Our room was very clean. We would stay here again if passing through this way.

Built in 1907 and on the national registry oh historic places. The place is huge, old and you can still see the grandeur of the place. Unfortunately it was let to go to ruin and then restored, the easiest way to cover a blemish is with paint unfortunately, so a lot of the old woodwork has been covered up. There is still enough to get the idea of what was if you know where to look. Room is comfortable enough and in better condition than some new hotels I've stayed in. Plenty of hot water . Now the so so part Having just driven 4 hours some toll way and a lot of backroads through the mountains we decide just to eat at the inn. Spouse went with the side salad called Mae's. She liked it , the special was a different story they called it a paella, it wasn't the small amount of shell fish was tasty but the mussels were mushy. Rice wasn't paella rice and was bland. I got the French onion soup , it was wonderful, my main was chicken scampi and was weird, I'm used to the breast sliced long ways this was cut across so it looked like medallions, sauce was so so. Mixed rice and steamed vegetables. We got this as a combo deal with fallen waters it included a " free " breakfast. It was worth the free part eggs Benedict with hard cooked eggs sauce seemed ok but the Canadian bacon was too small and thiner than I have ever seen. Spouses waffles were fine but too much whipped cream and a sad strawberry instead of generous mixed fruit. All in all a good combo with falling waters but not a do over.

Hadn't eaten here for a non event in probably ten years, and now I wonder why I'm had waited so long. We sat out on their spacious front deck, which may have one of the best views in SWPA. The crab cakes were perhaps the best I've ever had, and oysters Rockefeller were just as amazing as well.

Verdict: historic hotel and restaurant to which you can take your (grand)parents to dinner I learned about the Historic Summit Inn and Restaurant from another foodie, who loves the history, architecture, food, and landscape there. We happen to be in the area on vacation and brought my parents. We had hoped to sit on the veranda for COVID safety and the views, but it was closed for inclement weather. They put us in the main dining room, which was loud and probably hadn't been redecorated since the 1990s. We found the menu to be rather short and surprisingly heavy on seafood, given its distance from the coast. However, service was fast and friendly, and what they made us tasted good (especially the mashed potatoes). We tried the filet mignon, the lamb chops, and a Caesar salad with steak (which was huge). They do have a variety of wines and beers, and I can recommend the summit lemonade cocktail as tasty with the right amount of alcohol. We had dessert ready to go at home or else we would surely have chosen at least one item off of their 7-item, delicious-sounding dessert menu. The resort has 94 rooms that are bookable April through November, with indoor and outdoor pools. There is also a 9-hole golf course on the 1200 acres. We didn't try the restrooms, but the property does appear to be wheelchair accessible.

I was at the summit a couple of nights ago for dinner with coworkers and it was delicious. I ordered a fillet mignonette which is one of my favorite cuts of meat ever and it did not disappoint. I did not have the chance to ask but I would love to know if this hotel is haunted. I would love to come back and do a haunted tour if they are offered. There was a great sign in the lobby sign by some of the most savvy and historic business people in the history of the world.

    Amazing view!

One of my new favorite places to have drinks and relax. * The view is on a different level of beauty peacefulness * The hotel is historic, nostalgic and very interesting * The staff is great and the bartender is super awesome, Hi Mallory :D This is one of those places you will want to come back to again and again for a multitude of reasons. I do think they could add a little bit more to the restaurant menu and especially in regards to light fare items such as hummus trays, veggie platters and things like that but I believe since the pandemic things have changed a bit from what I was told so hopefully they are back to full speed soon. FYI - I'd love to see some vegan options on the menu I hope to be back soon enough to enjoy this wonderful place again and again in the future. Thank you for making the time I was there great, especially Mallory :D

Filet, chanterelle cream sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus

This review is for the restaurant only. We came for dinner on Friday night and the dining was busy. We had reservations but showed up a little early and were able to get seated. Our waitress greeted us quickly, gave us the specials and took our drink order. Those came out fast and were on point. We ordered the mini crab cakes which also came out pretty fast. They were excellent. Next up was French onion soup which was similarly very good. We got the same entree- filet with chanterelle cream sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Steak was fork tender and cooked perfectly. Service was outstanding, we wanted for nothing. Again, I cannot comment on the rooms or anything beyond the restaurant and bar area but our experience was top notch and will be back without question. Those complaining about prices may want to consider some of the chain restaurants in nearby Uniontown in the future.

We wanted to go to N Colin but sooooo expensive. For one night, Summit was great. Big storms for us in late July. Awesome porch. We liked our choice. Get the crab cakes! People who work there are nice. A different old world experience and we liked a lot.

We recently stayed here over the weekend and just loved it. The pool/hot tub was spectacular and recently renovated. The bar had some great cocktail options but would suggest that they take orders pool side for convenience. The historic building was very charming and welcoming. The rooms are what you would expect at an older establishment. Renovated to a point. There is so much to do in the area which makes it a great location. The views especially the sunset were amazing. Food was good as well. We will definitely come back!

Luxury experience…read more... Nemacolin is a place of awe offering so many amenities, views, activities, and much more. I stayed in the Chateau which did a fantastic job of integrating its artwork throughout while complimenting its architectural design. It felt as if I entered a historic museum. Butler service started the moment you get past the security checkpoint at the main entrance. Car valeted, bags to your room, and a bath can be ready for you. All and I mean all of the staff were super friendly and hospitable. There is a cigar lounge and shop that has a decent selection of spirits and cigars. Outdoor seating is also available on the massive patio area which connects to the lobby bar. For the sake of exclusivity I did not post the room interior. I did stay in the king bedroom which had multiple chandeliers, fully digital control operated lighting, curtains, and tv from the iPad. There was a proper coated iron tub which your butler is willing to make for you. Just call and request. The toilet was definitely what you'd expect in a luxury room, Fully automated, climate controlled seat, adjustable water temps and pressure, massaging, UV light, and several other features. In short walk up to it, handle business, still wipe yourself, and walk away. The shower had plenty of space and offered the waterfall/overhead feature most ideal for washing hair. The bed was comfortable and cooling. I do recommend ordering from the pillow menu. As a bonus there is a sweet treat brought to your room every evening. There is a menu for wake up call and refreshment service in the morning. Make sure you put the time in thirty minute increments. When I doubt rely upon your butler service. The housekeeping provided was excellent and comically enough it seemed everything I got out the bed and left I came back it was fully made. I was very appreciative of that. Don't worry about the PJ's landing and take offs. The noise cancellation in your room is more than adequate. 5 out of 5

However, parking at our lodge was a constant battle as staff members frequently took up guest spots. The resort has fun, quirky artwork and a great commitment to sustainability (the bee sanctuary was a highlight), but it is a mixed bag overall. The animal exhibits left us feeling a bit uneasy, as the animals seemed depressed. Service was also inconsistent. While the staff was generally nice, it was clear they need better training on luxury guest hospitality. Service took a major nosedive during prime dinner hours, and bars frequently ran out of signature ingredients. The dining was our biggest letdown. At Fawn & Fable, we were plagued by fruit flies/fungus gnats during dinner. The cocktails were easily the best on the resort, and the prime rib was good (though unmemorable), but my brother's steak was completely overcooked. Gusto!, the Italian spot on campus, was fine but ultimately forgettable. Nemacolin is an interesting place with plenty to do, and I can see it being a magical winter wonderland with snow. But right now, it lacks the execution and polish to justify a luxury tag.

Getting to the resort is reasonable and while the parking is mostly free each time I have ended up parking in the East Lot which results in a long walk through the Main Lodge and then to the Ski Lodge; not a lot of fun in full ski gear and carrying my skis. Both of my trips were in early spring so the ski conditions were ok, but not great. The slopes had decent snow coverage but there were large stretches of dirt between the slopes. Seven Springs has a good lift system that gets you up the hill and to the slopes efficiently. The slopes near the Ski Lodge are a bit shorter and generally easier. The North Face slopes are a bit longer and more challenging. The general feeling at Seven Springs is that the slopes are very wide open with not a lot of trees near the slopes. Seven Springs is a decent place to ski, however I find that it is not really challenging or charming. From what I have heard it is a great place for families to have a ski vacation as the lodge is slopeside and there is plenty of family friendly activities available. For a one day trip it is just ok, but I would only go there if I need to use up a ski day on the Epic Pass. Of course if it was closer to me it would be more appealing, also I would expect that if the snow coverage is good it would also be more fun. With all that said a day skiing is still a great day, for me there are better options for skiing about the same distance away.

Every time we go to a bigger mountain (like Okemo) he says he would have been too intimated and overwhelmed, and would not have enjoyed learning there. - Epic pass: if you have the pass, it's super convenient Cons: - The rental process is long and chaotic. Lines can get long and disorganized. - Rental equipment is NOT GREAT. After renting equipment at some other mountains, we feel that the quality at HV is a significant downgrade - The bar (Glaciers?) is way too small to accommodate the crowd. HV is small, but the bar has maybe 10-15 tables, and they're ALWAYS packed. Unless you get lucky and show up as someone's getting up, you're out of luck. - Ice Ice, baby. We spent about 5 hours here. We also ordered chili and Mac n cheese for lunch at Glaciers to Go, as grab and go items, which took under two minutes, then ate outdoors under a heating lamp. Some people chose to eat indoors at the restaurants, but personally, I'm not comfortable with that. I'm just glad there are options for everybody's comfort. I lost my phone and asked guest services if anybody had turned it in. Guest services was polite and helpful even though they didn't have my phone. And it's not just bacon and eggs people... these are GOURMET offerings all made fresh on site using fresh ingredients. We had a choice of a peach cobbler oatmeal that had peaches from the tree in the backyard even and it was delicious! There was also one addition that just made my stay even more superb... a little dog named "Jack" and he is the most precious (smiling) doggie that I have ever seen! So stinkin' CUTE! Anyway... if you are ever in the area (checking out Frank Lloyd Wright's work) you should definitely give this place a shot. They are phenomenal! Thank you David and Kitty! I hope we get to come back again soon. :)

I am, and I agreed to stay in a cabin in the West Virginia woods without doing any bear research beforehand. I learned about the bears -- all 14,000 of them roaming the state -- a day before I was supposed to stay at Mountain Creek Cabins, which are located in the middle of the woods in Bruceton Mills. I was ... a little anxious about my stay, you could say. Never mind that a bear attack has never been recorded in the state of West Virginia. There's always a first, right? And it could be me! I'm writing this review unmauled, with all of my limbs intact, and with great memories of my stay at Mountain Creek Cabins. Staying at our cabin was one of the highlights of my visit to the area, and my kids agree: We all loved staying here. There are eight cabins on the property, so we weren't as isolated as I thought we'd be. We weren't isolated, but we were also far enough away from other people that we felt very much like we had lots of privacy. We stayed in the White Tail cabin, which can sleep five with one king bed, two twin beds and a rollaway bed. The twin beds are upstairs, but everything else is downstairs, including a living room with a big TV connected to Roku, a push-button fireplace, a full kitchen and dining table, and a restroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and eat at the cabin. The living room has a cabinet with board games. We played one of them (Rummikub) and loved it so much that we ended up buying it once we got home. There's also free and fast wifi, which is important to each person in my family. The decorations in the cabin are sparse, but what decor there is included Bible verses and deer paintings, which is definitely a choice. I was not blown away by the aesthetics of this cabin, but it was the garish lighting that really messed me up. There's one soft lamp in the living room, and everything else is bright, cool, alarming overhead lighting. If you're a person who notices lighting like I do, this place will have you all effed up. My advice: Turn on the lamp, turn on the little light above the stove, and just be OK with the place being a little dark. Your only choice is this or prison lighting. Every cabin comes with its own hot tub, which my children used multiple times during our stay. It was immaculate and steaming when we checked into our cabin, which was much appreciated after a long drive to get to the cabin. The hot tub overlooks the woods, so it was nice to sit in the hot tub and see nothing but trees and a small creek that runs through the property. Well, it was nice for my kids to do that -- I was standing outside on the deck, looking out for bears. I was not about to let the bears dine on Indiana-children soup. All of the cabins have access to a free laundry room, plus there are firewood bundles and eggs (?!?!) that you can purchase on the honor system. We had a great time at Mountain Creek Cabins. It was so relaxing to stay at a place that had everything we needed. I never did end up seeing a bear, so I would stay here again without hesitation.

Had a wonderful three-night stay in the Shawnee cabin. Used the cabin as a home base for my Wisp…read moresnowboarding trip with the girl I'm dating. The cabin has a fire pit out front, a front porch, and a back porch that's covered with a hot tub. There are two cabins close by on either side but it still feels private, especially the hot tub. It's a little weird that the door to the back porch and the kitchen window don't have curtains but I guess the trees probably blocked some or all of the view in. It's a cabin so don't expect a ton of room, but it's cozy and there is still plenty of space for two people. A family of four would be fine, but unless you're super close I wouldn't recommend two couples sharing the Shawnee cabin. There's a couch and TV but the TV doesn't really turn much (not a big deal). TV has Roku built in and there is dish satellite channels. There's plenty of heat, with two space heaters and an electric fireplace, which is basically another heater. The kitchen has basically everything you need. There's a small oven and an electric stove (that takes a while). There's also a tiny dishwasher which is nice. The fridge was turned on right before we arrived so it took like six hours to cool down. I wish they turned it on earlier but it wasn't a big deal. There's a coffee maker that can make kcups or regular coffee, and they provide a bunch of kcups. There's also salt and pepper, as well as aluminum foil. The bed was super comfy and we slept great all three nights. Bathroom was standard and worked fine. Hot tub was the true MVP of the trip. There's nothing better than ending a long day with a cold beer and a hot soak. Don't forget to hydrate too! The hot tub smelled a bit weird but we got used to it. Set that bad boy to 104° and you're good to go. It snowed a little and we don't have all wheel drive. All the driveways seems to be on an incline so we had to park strategically on the road that splits to the different cabins. They recommend AWD but if there's less than 4" of snow, you probably will be fine. The snow was beautiful! The owners/managers were hard to get a hold of. We called a couple times to get in touch but did not hear back at all. In the end, it was fine because the email we got after booking was very detailed and there's a binder on top of the fridge with more information. Note: wifi password was on the side of the fridge, not the front. As you're entering, follow the instructions on your email, and not your google maps/Waze/etc. Just remember to take exit 15 and take that route. As of early 2021, Verizon and TMobile had service until the last five minutes of the drive and no service at all around the cabins. There are no gas stations or grocery stores remotely close. I recommend getting food and gas in Frostburg or Cumberland (coming from DC) or Morgantown (if you come from West/North/South). Apparently one pizza place delivers to the cabins but we didn't order. I definitely recommend coming to stay at Mountain Creek Cabins and I think I'd love to come back in the future.
