I've stayed at the Orange Tree, in the 13-room inn/hotel above the pub. I've eaten in the pub, the English breakfast that comes with an overnight stay, but I've not chosen the pub as a place to hang out (and wouldn't with so many interesting Richmond pubs along the Thames). The Orange Tree, as a place of lodging, is nicely maintained and stylish. The room was clean with a sizable entry space, a good sized bathroom, and even had a bit of design-y flair. I was relieved to find that my room, though up several flights of stairs, didn't look out over the main street; I suspect that would have been a loud, busy room. Mine was neither. Orange Tree is very well located in Richmond, almost across from the train station (or tube) that'll take you back to central London. It's also a short walk to the waterfront or, in the other direction, a heartier (but easy and flat) walk to Kew Gardens. By the time I stayed at Orange Tree I was tiring of the full English Breakfast but have to admit they did a nice job of it. We ordered our choices off a menu and the pub was quiet and empty at breakfast time - perfect. The nicest compliment I could bestow on a place of lodging is saying that I'd stay there again. As long as I could get a room that doesn't face the front I'd happily stay at Orange Tree again.

My work was inside the O2 arena which is inside this outlet too. I went to Nandos, Five Guys, Chiptole, German Kabob and a Thai restaurant. I also did some shopping here as well at Adidas, Hot Chocolate, Sunglass Guys and other stores. The arena is located right here you enter the outlet.

This is probably due to the fact that it's all business and financial buildings in the area and Saturday nights just aren't happening. A quick jaunt down the road and you begin to hear the 1940s classics leaking out of the windows of a 3-story, dimly lit, wooden-floored establishment. I was present for their Saturday Swing session and had an absolute blast. The 3 dance floors were perfect to mix up the mood during the night. The drinks were well-poured and the people well-mannered. I would, however, like to see this place on a weekday...not sure it'd be so hoppin' - but then again, I bet a lot of suits go there for their lunch breaks, so probably not a bad place to go if you like, well, suits :)

It's still glorious outside in October! This pub is one of my favourites. Never too busy, never too quiet and lots of comfy sofas. They also serve Pepsi, not Coke which makes me happy. There is a restaurant upstairs, which i haven't been to in years, but keep meaning to try again. I usually stick to the bar menu, which is slightly limited and rather pricey for what it is, but convenient! £10 for a burger and £15 for a steak? They also do a mean haddock and chips! It seems to be a meeting place for new mums every afternoon. Which is understandable. If i had a baby, i would bring it here.

Summer-time (what's that?, I hear you ask) offers a selection of four Pimms cocktails, at £3.50 per glass or £13 per jug (including an elderflower variant and a pomegranate version). Eclectic beers are available from The Meantime Brewery, at £3.70, (chocolate, raspberry, pale ale and union). Along with the more usual suspects and additional creative options. The Rising Sun is a pub nestled amongst the row of houses just on the edge of Epsom town centre. The first time I was there I followed the recommendation and succinct directions from another pub owner when I was in search of a pub lunch. Despite it's slightly out of the way location in and amongst residential houses and its recessed, unassuming entrance, the pub is bigger on the inside, extending some way back with a friendly-sized garden for the rare sunny days. The pub offers a variety of ales and cider, but what impressed me most was the selection and quality of their food. On the most recent visit on a Saturday afternoon, I had the grilled red gurnard served in a grapefruit sauce, accompanied by a salad of spinach, lamb's lettuce, grilled courgettes, capers, and a gorgeous vinaigrette. My partner had the guinea fowl with a walnut stuffing served on a bed of mustard mash. The ingredients were fresh and presentation appetising, rivalling a mid-priced restaurant in quality and presentation but with a pub-friendly price tag. I highly recommend dropping by for a pint or a meal, especially on a sunny day to enjoy the use of their beer garden.

The staff are very friendly and the alcohol is reasonably priced. We usually plump for a bottle of wine (£6.99 at the current rate), which makes for a cheap and enjoyable night out, especially when spent with friends. The interior is very old worldy, in the same style as an English country pub, but this adds to the ambience. A wide variety of ages use this pub from young to old and after a visit it is not hard to see why. They have a lovely seating area at the rear of the pub which is very nice in the warmer months. The toilets are quite basic though (Mens) and could probably do with a little upgrade.
