They're a recurring event (a Thursday each month?) so be sure to catch them if you can. The Ritzy has tons of free music events, as well as some parties with a small cover. Check the calendar to see what's going on. The music venue is upstairs from the bar, so buy your drinks and mosey on up. It's pretty cosy up there with a bunch of sofas and long high tables in the back. There's a cool balcony at the very back where people would go out and smoke. They have a good menu but it looked pricey, so I would recommend eating before you come.

Who'd have thunk it?…read more I knew the excellent Ritzy had another bar upstairs called... errr... Upstairs, but I hadnt' ventured up there before. With the lovely cafe downstairs spilling out onto the pavement, I've ignored it until now. But we checked it out this weekend and I've been missing out! Small, funky, intimate, with a wee stage on a mezzanine level. Plastered in movie posters, which I thought was a nice touch. Comfy seats to spend some serious time relaxing in, or the normal table and chairs for a quick one before a film. The regular events here tap into the local culture - some hip-hop, roots and reggae nights mixed in with comedy, open mic and even speed dating. See the listings poster for each month. I think this could be a great spot for a private party too.... just sayin'.

I had the lamb burger which was great, being there on a Tuesday meant any draft beer was on the house with burger purchased. Score! There are other offers on other days of the week. Be sure to check them out on their website menu! The sound is great in the theatre room, clear and crisp. It's difficult to get seating if you're late, so try to get here early if coming for one of the acoustic nights. There's a fair selection of good beers and the place seems friendly overall. In all a nice place to relax and close to the nearby railway/underground station

The menu is brilliant and at not too much of a costly price (the chips are definitely recommended), it is brilliant for a group looking for an entertaining evening out. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturday nights are the best for comedy (the weekends showcase the more renowned comedians with the Banana Cabaret). On some evenings you don't even have to pay to listen to the bands and artists but the staff are pretty strict on keeping talking to the minimum which is absolutely fair enough. In between music, comedy and cabaret they also hold Swing Dance and Tango classes! A great excuse to head to South London. Oh, and ladies - the men always seem to be rather good looking in here!

There is a car park next to the venue, however it belongs to the offices near by so park there at your own risk. It strikes me as a good venue for artists and audiences alike. The artists can perform in an environment which allows for a certain amount of intimacy. There is a bar area which has seats, so if you prefer to be near the bar and watch the show you can, however there is a glass screen between the bar area and the main floor so what you would hear I don't know. The food they serve is to cater for a wide range of tastes, fish & chips, jerk chicken (which if you are like me needs some proper spice to it) and some salads. The portion size was good and i did not feel the need for desert, although nothing took my fancy!! They had the usual variety of wines, beers, sprits along with some cocktails. The time it took to get served was ok no long waits and it was packed. Its always nice to not have to go to the bar to order your drinks so the table service was very much appreciated!! We witnessed Michelle John, who I had not seen on the Voice and she most certainly can sing!!
