Since the Higgins' acquired the funeral home in 2020, things have changed. It is more like it was prior to the period in which Carriage Services owned it (1998 - 2019). It's now like it was on the days of yore. During our last usage, the Higgens were more concerned for our needs (and some were a bit eccentric). The prior corporate owners were more concerned about payment. Higgins at Hunter-Allen-Myhand is more concerned about meeting the needs and well-being of the family. Pricewise, we noticed they had become more affordable since leaving corporate ownership. We basically copied a family funeral from nine years earlier. The cost dropped (and we used the same casket, vault, etc.). They are, compared to the chain funeral homes in LaGrange, a better bargain. The Higgins live in LaGrange and are a part of the community. They work to meet the needs of the families using the funeral home.

He actually let me go say goodbye to him privately because we wee so close. We have young children so Wesley made a coloring table with balloons so they could say bye to papa too. He really cares. Words cannot describe the excellent service my family received from McKibben and Sons. John, David…read moreand Patrick were all a real help and blessing to our family in the passing of our Mother. From the night John and Patrick came to get mom, to the next day planning the service, to the day of the service. They listened to our desires for mom and met every one of them. We buried mom out of state and John took care of all of the details. John even stayed at the grave and sent of pictures of the grave closed and the flowers placed. If you need a funeral home, I would highly recommend this one. They are a family focused on serving families. Thank you Claude A.
