DO NOT BOOK HERE. This place is a complete joke. Booked and lost my money due to poor communication. I asked how far is Higgins Lake from their campground, they said oh it's a 5 min walk. Well it's not a 5 min walk. It's a 5 mile walk. So canceled the day of and the other 3 days I had, the young worker said oh you'll be able to get a refund and pay a small cancellation fee. So I cancelled. Well the manager calls me this morning saying oh there's nothing they can do because you canceled the day of and won't get any of the refund back. His only excuse is they must've been new to the job. Why wouldn't you teach them about the cancelation policy if they work at the front desk and deal with reservations? The manager didn't try to work with me due to poor employee communication. If this is how they have to make money to stay afloat, then that's horrible business. They should change the name, extremely miss leading when they aren't even on the lake. read more

I thought this was a great experience. Pat that answers the phone and checks you in is awesome. I could tell she really wanted to get us the best accommodations. We ended up getting a deluxe cabin which says it can sleep 6 but the includes a double bed, 2 twin bunk beds in a very tiny room and the couch which is a futon. We only had 2 people so we had plenty of room. There is a toilet and a nice shower in the bathroom. The living room area has a tv, a table with bar chairs for 4, a microwave, refrigerator, kitchen sink and lots of cabinets to put your stuff in. You need to remember to bring your own sheets, towels, pillows and bedding. Also remember paper towel and toilet paper. Even though the Park was filled - it was surprisingly quiet. It's about 5 miles from Higgins Lake State Park which requires a recreation pass, but is very nice and has a paved bike trail and a public beach. read more

This place is terrible the general manager is wierd and made my kids feel uncomfortable. They inforce rules not even posted in print or online. The campground isn't even on the lake and they promote they have kid friendly activities but have a swing set and a rock wall. Only thing good about this place is the lemonade. WE DO NOT SUGGEST YOU STAY HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING STALKED AND TREATED BADLY BY THE STAFF. read more

big disappointment. Very rundown, not maintained whatsoever. We were there for 5 days. Got to our site and there was trash all over it. Sites around us had garbage on them and not picked up the entire time. We saw the bathroom/shower house supposedly cleaned one time. It was gross. toilets not clean. The fire pit was full of trash. The sewer hook up had a spill and there was toilet paper and sewage everywhere. Stepped out of my truck to a large pile of dog doodie. The sites are not cleaned up after each camper leaves. The Far East drive to sites has low hanging branches and the road is so washed out I feel you could bottom out your Rv. Staff very friendly but grounds need some TLC and maintenance. read more

Great kid-friendly campground. The yurt we're staying in is clean and comfortable and feels like a little hotel room. The yurts and cabins all seem pretty new. There is lots of kids stuff here - a tall (15'?) inflatable water slide, a bounce house, a rock climbing wall, and little 4-wheel cars for the kids to drive around. There's an outdoor movie theater that shows movies at night. There's also a playground at the campsite for the kids. Despite all the kids stuff, it's remarkably quiet during the day. Nearby, boat rentals are available at S Higgins Lake State Park (recreation passport required) ... Or bring your own boat. There are a few canoe rental places on the Au Sable River in Roscommon, too. Town is only a few minutes east of here and has a nice grocery stores and a few restaurants if you need them (not to mention gas stations and all the usual stuff). Overall this is really comfortable and kid- friendly camping. read more

Other then the little camp store with ice cream and the staff was nice on checkin. It didn't appear that any of the site have been graded. Several stumps throughout the campground. I struggled to get my camper level. The playground is riddled with trip hazard and poorly maintained playground equipment. Bathroom facilities are not awesome. To top it off. I couldn't dump my gray and black tanks because the dump station was overflowing. This is sad, the potential to be a really nice campground is there. The 2/3 full campground for the 4th of July weekend was obvious that we aren't the only ones who felt this way. read more

Skip it. I've never stayed at a KOA, this run down. They didn't guide you in to your lot,like other sites. I was given a map,with the drive marked. This brought us in the wrong way to see any lot markers. Once I found the correct lot, they had me entering the wrong way for any hookup. I had to drive back out and come back in from the other direction. The lot was so uneven, I jacked my tires off the ground to find level. The sewer hookup was literally slightly up hill. I had to manually clear the line by lifting it higher than the hookup. Some family of ours rented a jurt. They didn't have the listed furnishings included. There were not even sheets on the bed or pillows. When contacted the office sent the wrong size sheets. This was never remedied. The web site advertised bouncing house and slides etc. There is no bounce house and the air filled slide had old dirty water pooled at its base. It could not be used in this condition. We stayed three days and this was never addressed. They also advertised and outdoor movie theater. It never ran, while we were there. This is a shame,because, it looked really nice (sic). Oh, and for not having little things, like sheets and furniture, the manager offered a small bowl of ice cream. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this, but me warned. The is no trash pickup or trash cans. You must haul all trash to the one dumpster up front. There is only one bathroom. read more

This place is horrible! The bathrooms were disgusting, the lots were not mowed or maintained. The office/store was almost always closed. Definitely not up to KOA standards. It's like thinking your booking at Marriott and finding out your at Motel 6. read more

Needs some TLC and updating. Not sure if this is just because of COVID but no one monitors who comes in and out after hours. Once the store closes there are no employees on the grounds. We paid for wood Thursday afternoon we had to hunt someone down Friday because it was never delivered. Store is small with very limited supplies. No pool which is understandable with the lake nearby but not much for kids to do. Playground is old and rusted out. It is peaceful but definitely needs some updating. read more

Site not level, tree smack dab in the middle of the "extra wide site." Need 4-wheel drive to get into the site. Poorer went out to whole campground several times in 24 hours. If power out, there's no water either. No help from management. KOA corporate doesn't care either. read more

We loved the campground!! It was peaceful and staff was real friendly. They had a great little wooded dog walk through the woods. We absolutely enjoyed our stay here and will return in the near future. read more

Paid the premium price of $154 a night to rent the deluxe cabin for two nights to take my daughter on her first camping trip. Unload the car to find that the heater doesn't work ( temps going down to 30° at night) called office person, he came down to try to get it working, no luck. The remote for the television didn't work, he tried to say someone must have stolen the remote ( but they must have conveniently left a remote of theirs from home ), toilet tank ran constant, had to stick hand in tank every time to get tank to fill up. Office worker loaned us a radiator heater, couldn't use anything else electric at the same time or whole cabin lost power, had to go outside each time and flip the circuit. Camp store hours supposed to be 8-8, no one was ever there. He told us that he would talk to Manager to see about getting a credit back for inconvenience, day of checkout he called Camilla and she gave me and my father the run around, said she would call back that day, no call Sunday, Monday, I called Tuesday she claimed she was waiting for response from owner would call next day (Wednesday) no call, Thursday, no call. Now taking it up with the credit card company. read more
