The best thing I can say is that we called ahead and asked if we could have an Amazon delivery. Our camper fridge died at our previous site so we had a plug in cooler sent to this campground and they didn't mind. Stay here if you need a spot to sleep and don't care about having amenities.

We stumbled upon this new campground while searching for a place to try out our new fishing rods…read morenear my parents up north. Here are my pros and cons: The Good: - Quiet: Being that it's newly reopened (formerly known as Secord Lake Campground), and that Secord Lake is a shell of what it used to be because of the dam breaks (as we later discovered), of the 52 sites available, we were 1 of 3 campers on the premesis on a WEEKEND! It was so great to actually hear the sounds of nature. - Spacious: Adding on to the above, if you like being able to spread out and not camp on top of other people, until this place grows over the years to come, you can bet on having at LEAST several spaces between you and other campers. - Pet-Friendly: Dogs are welcome! It's hard to find a campground that dogs are allowed, and with it being so quiet, it's pretty nice for dogs who tend to bark at passersby. - Amenities: Bathhouses are spacious and clean, there's a play set for kids, horseshoes to rent and play with, and cute camp store stocked with the essentials AND ice cream, and a dump station on site. The Bad: - The website is more than a little misleading. Though these things are all advertised as if they are on-site, there are no absolutely lake views from any of sites (ironic, considering the name), walking trails, fishing, boat rentals, etc. whatsoever. We specifically came to this campground to be able to go fishing, but not only is there no fishing spots at the campground, there os actually no public fishing spots on Secord Lake AT ALL (the few spots are now dried up from the dam break). Considering that fishing is listed as a campground amenity and included in the Lakeview Campground logo, we had every reason to think this was the place to go to try out our new gear. We were very wrong, and very disappointed. I will say, there are plenty of trail heads and ORV trails within 10 miles of the campground to go enjoy. If you're willing and able to rent a boat, there are spots on the Lake that do have fish biting, but they are only accessible by boat. The marina across the road had no day rentals. With all of that said, if you just want a quiet place to get away, let your kids run and play, and enjoy the sounds of nature with last-minute availability, definitely give this place a shot. The owner is really attentive and goes above and beyond. We ended up really enjoying our stay, even though it was nothing like we'd expected.

We ended up getting a deluxe cabin which says it can sleep 6 but the includes a double bed, 2 twin bunk beds in a very tiny room and the couch which is a futon. We only had 2 people so we had plenty of room. There is a toilet and a nice shower in the bathroom. The living room area has a tv, a table with bar chairs for 4, a microwave, refrigerator, kitchen sink and lots of cabinets to put your stuff in. You need to remember to bring your own sheets, towels, pillows and bedding. Also remember paper towel and toilet paper. Even though the Park was filled - it was surprisingly quiet. It's about 5 miles from Higgins Lake State Park which requires a recreation pass, but is very nice and has a paved bike trail and a public beach.

This was our first and last stay at Trailside Campground…read more We rented Cabin #3, which is only about 25 yards from the pavilion. It was Friday, July 24, and there were no scheduled concerts or events. Around 5 or 6 people, including the owner, were partying in the pavilion with extremely loud music, strobe lights, and a disco ball until the early morning hours. The cheap curtains in the cabin did nothing to block the flashing lights. At about 1:40 a.m., I politely walked over and asked if they could just turn the music down a little. I never asked them to shut it off--I simply wanted it lowered enough that we could get some sleep. The owner's response was unbelievable. He appeared to be intoxicated and immediately came storming toward me yelling, "Hey! Hey! Hey!" He then told me, "This isn't a KOA or a family campground. This is going to go on until 3 or 4 in the morning," and said he'd give me a refund. He wasn't calm or respectful--he was aggressive and confrontational over a simple, reasonable request. The next morning, another camper stopped me in the bathroom and said she felt bad for how the owner spoke to me. She told me another camper was so upset after witnessing it that he left the pavilion. She also mentioned the owner had been drinking all day because they were celebrating the one-year anniversary of buying the campground. We weren't the only people bothered by the noise. Campers across from us were complaining too. If your campground isn't family-friendly and you plan on having loud parties until 3 or 4 in the morning, that's your choice. But be upfront about it so guests know what they're paying for. More importantly, don't treat paying customers with disrespect when they make a polite request. Customer service starts at the top, and unfortunately our experience with the owner ensured we'll never be back.

We were on site 61. The first thing I noticed is how stunning the Surrounding scenery is! The trees are beautiful in a October. The sites themselves are spread out. You don't feel like you're on top of each other. Every morning it felt so much earlier than it was...This place is super quiet! Maybe it would be different in the summer but fall is definitely peaceful. Everyone was super friendly. We were out most of the day and didn't hang at the campground much which leads me into my next point... there isn't much to do here (not a bad thing!). I'm so happy this trip was just for my husband and I because my kids would be bored to death. There is no pool (was too cold to use it even if there was) and no park. I am totally ok with these things but it would be great to know if we did bring the littles. However, this campground is near everything! All in all, we paid around $300 (five or take) for our trip here. Definitely worth it and we can't wait to come back!

I recently stayed at this campground and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience -- not…read moreonly with the conditions of the site, but with the rude and condescending response I received when I reached out about a legitimate health concern. During our trip up north, this was the only place where my asthma was triggered. We spent four days in other areas affected by the Canadian wildfires without any issues whatsoever. The morning after arriving here, my asthma became severely aggravated, and we were forced to leave early. The stagnant pond next to our campsite was covered in scum, clearly releasing mold and spores into the air. This was the only environmental change during our trip, and the only place where my breathing became compromised -- making it obvious that the pond conditions, not wildfire smoke, caused the reaction. When I emailed to cancel the remainder of our reservation and requested a refund, I would have fully understood if the campground simply reiterated their no‑refund policy. However, the response I received was unnecessarily dismissive and patronizing. I was told, in a condescending tone, that "algae is not associated with asthma," followed by an incorrect assumption that wildfire smoke was the cause -- despite the fact that we had been in wildfire‑affected areas for days with zero symptoms. A polite explanation of policy would have been acceptable. The attitude was not. The man taking reservations was rude from the first phone conversation and I was reluctant to make a reservation, but was unable to find a campsite in the area that had a GUARANTEED SITE, not first come first serve. Customer service matters, especially when guests are dealing with health issues. Instead of listening, acknowledging the concern, or even responding neutrally, the staff chose to be dismissive and incorrect about the situation. That alone ensures we will not be returning. This is the EMAIL- so no speculation on my interpretation of the response from the resort. Please cancel our reservation for today, Saturday July 18th. The pond scum severely bothered my asthma, and we were forced to leave early this morning. Please add payment charge back to my credit card.
