I have only been here once, but I really enjoyed it. It is a clean and comfortable brewery. Nice open space that is very inviting. I had the sour, which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the hazy IPA and said it was really really good. There's all kinds of games from foosball, to shuffleboard, to darts to pass a leisurely evening. Bonus: they have a help yourself water station, which I thought was a great addition. The next time we're in the area, I can't wait to go back. read more

The girls and I did a little shopping and then brewery hoping last weekend. The location was easy to find. There's seating outdoors and indoors. The building appears to have been an old warehouse. Inside is a spacious area with plenty of hangout space, tables, booths, Foosball and Darts. We decided to drink at the bar. We were greeted by a young man who placed coasters for our drinks and a menu to read. They also have a large chalkboard that can be changed when needed. He gave us a welcoming smile and some time to go over the menu. I decided on the Bubbly, a Peach-Grapefruit Seltzer. Mine was a light and refreshing drink. This place is A-OK! I'm excited to see it when COVID restrictions are finally gone, but they do a good job of making due. They have a good amount of spread-out seating both inside and outside, they have policies nicely in place, a good amount of beers to try, and quite a bit of beer to go in cans as well. Most of what I tried were quite good. The IPA's show a good deal of promise already for a brewery that's rather young, and the sours were quite enjoyable and very approachable. The parking situation is great as well. Plenty to be had. Overall, although High Nine isn't particularly close to me, I'm sure I'll be back when I'm in the area again. read more

High Nine is a super fun brewery in Deep River. They have random bikes and skateboards across the ceiling, there is a variety of games to play, as well as a live music through the month. You can bring your own food and your puppy for fun day or evening of socializing and drinking tasty beers. My friend and I shared a flight of four. My favorite was Mattsicle, this is an orange flavored sour, very refreshing and delicious. The other three we got were, Smitty's, Hop Glop and Westie. Westie was another citrusy favorite. One disappointing thing is there were a few we were interested in, but they were only available in cans, not as a flight. This is a very fun place to hang out at with friends and puppies. read more

Great space Beers are ahead of schedule Gaining buzz At a stop at a more established brewery in south-central Connecticut, my friend and I overheard talk of High Nine from the staff with some of the patrons, and we were intrigued. They happily gave us directions down the road, and we decided to give this place a try despite it being in its second week of operation, and we were happy we did. Walking in, I was struck by how well outfitted the interior is - large bar, several comfortable seating areas, shuffleboard, foosball, and (my most beloved) darts. It would be easy to pass time here just for that, BUT WAIT - they also make great beer! We had a really pleasant chat with Kirsten about how they got their start, the strong bond among the local breweries in the vicinity, and we found out that Spencer, the brewmaster, had ten prior years of brewing experience. It showed in the first pours we had. Their variety available was solid, from NE DIPAs to stouts to a really on-point pilsner, and a fruit beer in there as well - early Untappd ratings were showing positive trend already. The brewery is situated just off scenic CT-154, a great little path to mosey through a pretty part of central Connecticut. High Nine is close to a few other fine drinking and eating establishments, and belongs in your consideration set. One note - they're new, so stay tuned for how their opening hours shake out in the coming weeks, once they get into a groove. High Nine is a reference to the fact that the brewer has only nine fingers, and is in the habit of handing out high-9s instead of high-10s. He's clearly making do just fine with nine, and you will too. Recommended for a stop in! read more

Warehouse interior typical of these places. I can't speak to the beer as I can't drink it. They do have wine. Red, white, rose', from Jonathan Edwards winery. No food. You are welcome to bring your own. Sat at the bar. Service was good. Bar surface was very sticky. Never observed anyone wiping the bar the two hours I was there. read more

My first time going to any location in deep river (after being a new london resident for 3 years) and it was great to hit this brewery as a first. Nice selection on a variety of brews with a relaxing atmosphere. They have a foosball table and barroom shuffle board which lead to a very intense tournament between my friends and I. I lost the shuffleboard tourney, but the night was still a win in the long run. I enjoyed their "mattsicle" which was a creamsicle flavored beer which though I dont consider better than the infamous gelato girl by back east brewery, Is a strong second contender. For anyone who has had gelato girl, this is a very high compliment for any brew. As a current Portland, Connecticut resident I will certainly hold this brewery in high regards when I am looking to go out and splurge on a local CT brewery. 5 stars for drinks, atmosphere & overall experience. read more

Keep 'em coming! Another lovely little spot near me that I finally got to! It is a decent sized space with a delicious selection of beers. I did a sampler of four which included two IPAs, a kettle sour, and a kolsch. They were all pretty tasty and made my happy hour. They also have several cans which you can buy and enjoy as well if you do not see something on tap to your liking. After the sampler, I finished with a can of the Penk Drenk. Due to the regulations, they do have pretzels. Not the stale gross ones in a bowl. They have the big soft ones that they serve warm with a bit of mustard. Mmmmm...the perfect pairing! I did not contribute yet, but I did see the famed buddy board. I unfortunately did not get the full story as recommended in other reviews. It is pretty loaded though, which is super cool. I think it such a great idea. I do recommend bringing a jacket or sweatshirt. They have seating inside but they had the overhead door open so it was brisk! read more

If you only go to one brewery, let it be this one: My fiancé and I have recently moved to Connecticut from Cincinnati which is a town well-known for their amazing breweries and their excellent brew masters. Coming to CT, there have been good breweries but none that really stood out from the rest... until now. High Nine stands out from the rest. We learned that this brewery has only recently opened but based on the beers we tried, you'd have thought they've been doing this for a decade. The brewery is small but their goals are clear: make great beer, have an inviting atmosphere, and welcome anyone who stops in. There are games to play and comfortable places to sit with your friends when relaxing after work or on a weekend. There's a board on the wall where you can buy a beer for your buddy - the next time they stop in, that beer will be waiting for them. Owners are hands-on, experienced brew masters with a commitment to quality and service. What was really cool on the night we visited was the diversity of the patrons, millennials were out numbered by the baby boomers . I'm sure that changes daily. Not a bad start for a new brewery. While I am not an IPA or fruit sour fan their selections seem to be pretty popular among the people who do drink them. This past winter they had an oatmeal stout that was out of this world yummy and you can't go wrong with a Flugie (sp?) on a hot day. My only gripe about the beer (and I see this often) is that there are always tons of IPAs and fruity sours but personally I enjoy something in the mid range of a brown or amber ale. These are not so easy to find in craft breweries for some odd reason. If they have them it seems they only brew one batch and then it's gone. :( The decor inside the building is definitely very industrial. It's a good start. As a professional designer I tend to see the flaws which in this case is the harsh overhead fluorescent lighting. I wish they has something warmer and more inviting but they are brewers on a budget so I won't knock off stars for that. They do have games and seating which seems often dominated by families. I might advise parents that patrons who are actually buying and drinking here might like a seat as well. It's one thing if the kids are sitting WITH you but when they start to take up the tables and chairs in other areas that is not fair to others. read more

Wonderful new brewery literally walking distance to my best friend's house. They offer a range of beers so everyone will find something they like, or you could split a flight to help decide which beer will fill your pint glass. There's plenty of parking out front, games to keep you occupied, and you can order food to be delivered. With close proximity to 30 Mile, Little House, and others, this is a great spot on a mini brewery crawl. read more

By far the best all around brewery we've tried in south eastern CT so far. Great location, great space. Family, dog, and food friendly. Games inside, good amount of tables and open space. Not too many chairs at the bar, so it's less "bar-like." Beers were fantastic. Tons of distinct flavor. You can't ask for too much more. We'll be back many times. read more

This place is really nice and relaxing. My concern is the 2 hours we spent there and saw customers come and go, none of the staff wiped down any of the tables or the bar. I'm very concerned not just because the corvid issues we are going through, but the cleanliness alone. We will not be going back anytime soon. Please be aware if this on your next visit. read more
