After talking to our wonderful waitress and telling her it's our first time here, she suggested to us the Ribeye Philly Sandwich and the Aloha Burger and the Cheese Curds for an appetizer. After looking at the menu for a few minutes, I chose the Ribeye Philly Sandwich and Jr chose the Junction burger. We both subbed fries for the chips and also ordered a 1/2 order of onion rings and the Cheese Curds. The Cheese Curds were amazing. I've never had such great tasting cheese curds before. The onion rings were cooked perfectly. Both our sandwiches were outstanding. We both said "were coming back here again". Gotta try more stuff here! Thank you!

I gave the waitress $100.00 (5 twenties) on a $69.00 dollar check and requested change for the tip. Unfortunately she returned with $11.00 and some small change and when i pointed out she was 20 short she seemed confused and went back to the bar to check. After another short exchange between me and her she went again to the bar and returned with my 20 so I'm okay. I just hope she didn't get stiffed by the guy behind the bar who rang up the bill and they figured out the mistake. P.S. She ended up with the 20 cause i still didn't have change for the tip.

I had heard good things about the Saloon from friends for years, but had never quite found the…read moreright time to go. Now I'm glad one of those friends suggested it last night. I was in a mood for a fish fry, so we wound our way up the Lancaster road to the sign pointing to Ellenboro, crossed the narrow bridge and pulled up right in front (a good sign that it wouldn't be too crowded). Up the stairs, through the foyer and into a cheerful, eclectic space that would be tight if there was a crowd, but there were plenty of tables open. They can probably seat around 50, if you include the seats at the bar. Our server came over right away, welcomed us and provided a menu that surprised me in that everything on it looked tempting. Honestly, since I was there for the fish, I only paid attention long enough to determine that this might be a place to bring the spousal unit next time. They had four choices for the fry - cod, catfish, blue gill and flounder (the last two are what we got). You get two sides and a roll with the dinner, one side with a basket. I had steak fries and hush puppies - both were just right. The flounder was good, but I'll give the cod a try next time. My friend's blue gill dinner was generous - looked like 5-6 pieces, while my basket had three good sized pieces (I ordered an extra side). Prices were very reasonable. The food came out fast, the music was low enough that we could hear each other without yelling, and the service was excellent. Honestly, the only minor quibbles were that there was too much food to leave room for dessert, and that it was a bit chilly sitting by the window! Definitely will put this into our rotation!

However, the bartenders were both very nice and the cheeseburger was decent and very reasonable that came with not homemade chips. The Italian beef on special was ok. It was decided that Morts & Saint's was going to be our dining experience for the night. Upon arrival the place came across as a total dive bar. Don't get me wrong, I love dive bars, they have some of the best food and the locals usually are willing to bend your ear with tales about the town. The seating area was small, only a handful of tables and the bar. We had a group of 6, which meant we had to take up two tables. That's not an issue for us, but keep in mind it's not good for groups. Let's just get to the brass tacks of this review. I don't recommend Morts & Saint's. The first thing I noticed is that the cooking area is behind the counter where you can see everything the cook does, I mean EVERYTHING... Like most dive bars the place could use some repairs... and cleaning. A lot of cleaning. From the looks of the signs, clocks, decorations, etc... The internet may still have been dial up the last time someone cleaned it thoroughly. Everyone of us ordered burgers, I watched as the cook pulled the frozen patties out of the chest freezer next to the flat top and put them on with his bare hands, no gloves... no washing... handling other food items, then doing other tasks, only to go back to food handling again.... Multiple times. The burgers were frozen patties thrown on grill... no thawing, no seasoning... just on the grill that moments before was used to prepare something else. I had the Lena Rae burger, I others ordered the Mort Burger, the Flamin' Mort, and a Swiss Mushroom. Honestly, the best part of the burger was Chips that came with them. The burger itself was mediocre at best. How people are saying this is the best burger in town is beyond me. Honestly, they only thing I can say positive about the burger is that for the price, it's not bad. Each burger at the time we went was between $6 to $8. It's not a bad burger, it's just painfully average. However, if they keep their prices like that, I can see how it will attract people. If you enjoy a good dive bar, you don't want to spend money, and you feel like risking a good health code violation or two... Morts & Saint's is for you. ...oh and the service is what you expect. Local staff spending more time talking to regulars. Our waitress seemed to be more concerned with flirting with customers at the bar than taking orders, filling drinks, bringing us a check, etc.
