High Park is such a lovely green space in Toronto. Right next to Keele station, High Park boasts many visitors in early May particularly when the cherry blossoms bloom. Cars aren't allowed in the park during that time, but it's an amazing experience. The trees were gifted from Japan many decades ago and have continued to bloom each season. It's an experience everyone should experience for the beauty and transience of it. The park does get crowded, but nice to see everyone coming together to enjoy the fresh air and views. read more

High Park is a great place for a nature retreat in the heart of Toronto. From playgrounds, hiking trails and even a zoo, there's something for everyone! We spent about an hour and a half exploring trails after walking through some of the more flat and open terrain. The trails are extensive for being located in the city. At points it seems pretty isolated and it feels almost remote in some parts. We went in the middle of a weekday and there were many children out and about in the park area, while the trails were more quiet. The trails were easy to navigate and had some hilly options if you wanted a more challenging hike. The park is large, and the hour and a half we were there, we really only mostly explored the hiking trails- which are easily 5 stars, considering how awesome it is to have access to something like this in the heart of the city. read more

If you are a dog this is the place to be. There are different aspects to this park but if you're a canine you can't go wrong. This place is HUGE. There are many trails you can go on with your animal friend. There seems to be many gated and non-gated areas where I saw dogs off leash. This place is so large or I'm just geographically challenged that when I wanted to exit the park I took a trail or two that led me in a circle to my original starting point. Not good. read more

We went for the small zoo and the kid's playground. My little one just loved the playground, didn't want to go. Then we went to the zoo, because it would close at 4pm as the website says. The zoo is small, but still have a few different kinds of animals that staying outdoor, enjoying the sun, I guess they are all winter animals. High Park is huge and super fun to explore. We spent hours walking around, checking out the zoo, and just chilling on the grass. The animals were cool to see, and the peacocks were kinda loud but funny. The playground was a big hit too. Tons of kids were running around and having the best time. There's also lots of shade so it's nice on hot days. We went on a weekday and it wasn't too buisy, which made it even better. I wanna go back in spring when the cherry blossoms are out. read more

It's Sakura season! The park is closed to cars right now. They are only allowing TTC HandiTrans, service vehicles and bikes right now. I recommend parking near Parkside and High Park in order to see as much as possible but also to avoid a long uphill walk back to your car if you take one. The park is free! It's gorgeous. Great place for mobile dogs. I would avoid bringing bracycephalic breeds unless you have a stroller for them that you can push over hilly sometimes muddy paths. read more

I think High Park is one of the best public parks in Toronto. It is a huge 339 acres - I admit I've gotten lost before but I'm also directionally challenged haha. I have many fond memories of High Park growing up. It wasn't too far from where I lived in my childhood so I've enjoyed many summer days, picnics, and birthday parties at the playgrounds. Even now the castle playground feels like a sight to behold and the free mini zoo is always a treat to visit. The zoo is a great way to pass time and has a pretty good selection of animals to visit from bison, deer, llamas, peacocks, and more. It's amazing that it's still free admission in this day and age. Of course, there's always the seasonal April/May cherry blossom bloom. A wonderful, but very crowded time to visit. If you can make it out early in the day then the sights are truly wondrous. Definitely come by High Park if you haven't been. I feel like High Park is a must visit as a Torontonian! read more

Going here in the fall time is particularly recommended, with the colourful trees and cosy vibes. Plenty of spaces to have a picnic (coupled with a nice hot drink seeing as cafes aren't too far) or just to spend an hour or two getting lost in. When my husband and I visited High Park, we unfortunately didn't have much time to explore the park (and it was too hot to walk around for long), so I can't give a proper review. However, from what I have read and what little I did see, High Park deserves at least four stars. I visited during Cherry Blossom season and they do not allow any cars to go in or parking inside so good luck finding street parking. Visited this during the early Fall season, and it was my first time! It's an amazing place filled with beautiful animals, most of which I haven't seen before. They have a "dogs off leash" section and me being a dog lover, I felt I was I heaven when dogs walked pass by and said hello. 99% of dogs who were off leash were well behaved. The park is very spacious. Lots of parking spaces (fee is required). Washrooms within distances. There are some places to eat but were closed when I was there. Oh! Before I forget. They have a transportation that looks like a train but driven on the road. They take you around the park for a small fee. I believe about 10 people can go into this. I definitely can't wait till next year to visit this place again. read more

I lived near the park from 1996 to 2001 and had spent a lot of time walking through it. I don't get there as often as I'd like. I had a lovely 6.5km walk ... the leaves on the trees were changing and were gorgeous to see. If you like to do lots of drugs, then High Park might be right for you. If you like to say hello to parks (and other public spaces), then you might prefer "Hi Park." Which is what I usually say when I see a South Korean dude anyway. This is definitely a wonderful park located on Bloor Street to the west of all the hustle and bustle of Toronto. I really miss living in High Park. My second year of living in this city, I lived in a condo that overlooked the entire park facing south and every morning I would wake up to the sight of green (white if it was winter) and the blue horizon of the lake. High Park is the best park in Toronto to spend a whole day in. Take your kids, take your dog, take your mom. There are many kms of trails that zig zag your way through the park and you might even come on to some hidden gems that you didn't know about. Like the mini zoo (though now closed due to the pandemic) known for its notorious escaping jailbirds (hah- pun intended) like the screaming peacock screaming its lungs out as it roamed the neighborhood for weeks before the authorities caught up with him. Or the pair of Capybaras that made the lake inside the park their vacation resort. The park is also the best place to catch Cherry Blossoms every year in spring, however I doubt you'll see many this year due to the social distancing restrictions. Plan to spend the day there, just take a picnic basket, some blankets, some wine and water and you will not regret getting lost in all the green and forget that you are dead centre of a bustling city. It's such a wonderful place to be in for a nice stroll. Great place for a date or even taking pictures. I went there for the sakuras and it was magnificent. IT was the peak for the sakuras so there were so many people there. I wish I could go during a time when there weren't that many people but it was beautiful!!! Saw some people taking pre-wedding pictures and that was better taken at the beginning of the park where there were only 3-4 trees. This park has so much to offer: long winding tree lined trails to get your walk on, long staircases to get in that lower body workout, an enclosed off leash dog park which is a big sand lot, picturesque Cherry blossom groves for tons of selfies, a huge pond with ducks and geese, cool zoo where you can get up close and personal with the animals, sports facilities (tennis courts, baseball diamonds and soccer fields), an adventure playground, and even restaurants for all the foodies out there. Especially during quarantine, my visits to High Park have become a weekly highlight! There are several trails to choose from so you will never get tired of the same old walk. My personal fav is to park on Ellis Park Road and then take a stroll by the pond - it's a true escape from the city. It's both relaxing and serene, so I often opt to start or end my day here. The trails are well taken care of but can get a little icy in the winter so be careful. Sometimes you will be lucky enough to spot wildlife such as swans, beavers or even deer. If you are coming with a dog, the off leash dog park/trail closer to the main entrance is a definite must and if you are stopping by kids, be sure to check out the petting zoo. The spring cherry blossoms are what High Park is known for but I think it's worth a visit no matter what the season! read more

High Park Zoo is phenomenal! High Park Zoo is a free zoo hidden at High Park and completely worth the trip. Free parking, free admission and amazing sights to be seen! You can get so close to the animals here and see them interacting so close up. They don't just have run of the mill animals either...they have some really cool animals! Emus, bison, llamas, peacocks, deer, highland cattle, peacocks, caribou, wallaby, an adorable lone rabbit, mouflan & barbary sheep (in different pens) and yak. The history behind this zoo and the way they keep it running is just amazing to me. I absolutely love animals and this was like heaven for me. It's hard for me to pick my favorite thing at the zoo, but I loved the benches in front of the various animal areas. It was so relaxing to take a load off and just watch the animals. read more

Highly recommend bringing your friends and family members for a picnic here during the cherry blossoms season in early-mid May!! Massive park with fields of scenic and blossoming trees in various colours and varieties! Perfect to go take photos at and just enjoy good weather and company. There is a maze with a flowers shaped as a maple leaf. There are hills of pathways and trees to lay under the canopy. Ponds with ducks, loons, herons and swans! Perfect place to take cute, fluffy dogs out for a walk or stroll hand in hand with your beau. Parking inside the park is hard and limited, so I highly recommend finding parking in the nearby residential streets and just walk to and fro for some good exercise. There are slides and a petting zoo inside this massive park with multiple food trucks and cafes. In the summer time, there are PWYC Shakespeare plays. This park is truly a gem in Toronto! Warning: please do not pull on the trees' branches towards your face or shake them for selfies and photo shoots. The trees are meant for everyone to enjoy with their eyes and minds and not to be ruined by the selfish few. read more

I don't know how I missed writing a review for High Park! Makes me wonder how many other places I've forgotten to write a review for! High Park is one of the most amazing parks you'll ever witness - this is a treasure. The park is filled with amazing scenery from start to finish. Wherever you start is up to you. The park has a tour train that goes around the entire park and is relatively cheap. I'd suggest going during the fall, that way it's not too hot or too cold. In the summer, it's probably killer. You can drive up to the park or take transit, the choice is up to you. The park is filled with parking spots and I honestly should've drove coming up here. (But yay, taking the subway means helping the environment! :D) There are little restaurants within High Park to eat at or snack at - hot dogs, sort of like a beach or something. If you go off the grounds of the park, there are a bunch of businesses, including for all you coffee lovers - a Starbucks. The sunset at the park is one of the most beautiful views I've ever had, even though during undergrad I had a high rise suite and the sunrise was pretty nice there. Good for long nature walks and hiking. Love coming here to take pictures because there is so many little gems inside the park if you go explore it by foot. They have washrooms stationed everywhere, but they close for the fall & winter season. I wish they had more parking on the north side of the park because there is just not enough... High Park offers, not only a great place to walk, but also free tennis courts, free swimming pools, and a free zoo. The Shakespearian plays in summer are a good time, and the pond is decent for fishing. The restaurant in the middle is a good place to breakfast, taking advantage of their early bird special. The only down side is the parks biggest draw. It can be hectic during cherry blossom season. You'll love it, or you'll hate it, but the rest of the year is a true delight. read more

I had a 5 hour layover. I wanted to go out and see something in Toronto. I had to clear American AND Canadian customs in that time, I wanted at least 3 hours for that. So what did I do? I called an Uber and went to High Park. It's so beautiful! It's huge! The squirrels there are black (seriously!!!). Large green space that's easily accessed from downtown Toronto. Feels about 5 degrees cooler with all the trees. I like to come here for Shakespeare in the park, which happens every summer. There are lots of mosquitos so be sure to wear long pants and sleeves in the evenings. Regarding the plays, they start at 8pm but by 6:30pm, all the good seats are taken. Come early! read more
