The parking lot here is also VERY tiny so if you have an event to go to here, plan accordingly.

I had to call the director, Heather Shaw, and ask why they were not checking on my child. he ate once. not because my son didn't want to eat. but that's all they fed him. he came home with deep bloody scratch and hoarse from crying for extended amounts of time. never ever send or reccomend this place. they are now ignoring me and what happened to my child. I'm not the only one this happened too.

I always felt comfortable leaving my child there. I've recommend this place to many, many folks. The staff has changed a lot in the past couple years. I've had some experiences with the new staff which have been less than pleasant recently. I had to ask one of the ladies please at least say hello to my son before spouting rules with the expectation of difficult behavior before he even walks in the door. This staff member left my child in, unattended, time out for so long he picked apart the chair she had set him in while she was busy changing diapers and feeding the small ones. She made me pay for the chair. I asked how many children they had thay day. She said 15 with 2 adults who where attending children and one who was stuck at the desk checking people in and out. I should have never went back. But, we had such good experience for so long I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Another staff member in particular, has been rude and disrespectful to both me and my child on more than one occasion before today. I have also observed her yelling at other children from the desk where she takes an unnecessarily long amount of time to check parents out, leaving the children to do what they will. In my experience she has taken 10 or more minutes to check me out while small children are left unattended, only to be yelled out from outside the room to stop doing whatever dangerous thing they are about to do, jump from a high toy or pieces of future, tackle another child, ect. Today she called me to come pick up my son because he was wrestling with another boy and it got out of hand. She admitted she was at the desk while this incident occurred. She also let me know the only other staff members who was there with the, at least 12+ small children, had been busy changing diapers. When I told her I felt the establishment was under staffed and leaving my 6 year old alone with a pile of other children was inappropriate and dangerous she told me "well dont bring him back" then proceeded to YELL at me in front of the children telling me I need to "do some parenting". I believe this woman is ill equipped to work with the public at all let alone small children. She is slow and is in visibly poor health, and appears to be medicated, which understandably makes her grumpy, however the neglect of the children and borderline abusive behavior from this person is not understandable and will not be forgotten. I will not be using this server ever again and neither should you.

As she gets older it has become increasingly difficult to take her out to dinner with us, or even take her along to run errands. So, I found this drop off day care center across the street from Hanes mall which has really worked well for us. We've only used it twice (date nights for Valentine's day, and our anniversary), but we've been extremely pleased with the care our daughter has received. She has not cried either time when we dropped her off, which to me indicates that it is a very child friendly place where kids don't mind being. I'm not sure if it's busier during the earlier hours of the day, but when I dropped her off both times in the evening there were only a couple other children there. So, I decided to put some positive energy out there for this business so that more people use it, and so that (self-servingly), we can continue using it. This is a great place to use if: You work at or near the mall, and/or have a schedule that is not your typical 9:00-5:00, your regular day care is closed on a day that you still have to go to work, you want to run some errands around town and don't want to drag the kids along (I've decided that dragging kids around town borders on child and/or parent abuse depending on how you view the world), or you just want to go out to a nice restaurant with your significant other. The hours are: Monday - Thursday 9 AM - 10 PM Friday - Saturday 9 AM -12 PM The cost is: A one time registration fee of $20 $6/hour (very reasonable) Other info: There is no need to call ahead (but it might help the daycare if you do). You bring the food and snacks.

We chose in home care for our daughter for 3 years and then wanted a daycare that treated them like their own and not a money maker. She feels so loved and cared for and hugs them when she leaves most days. The communication is amazing with our weekly updates. They prompt us to ask questions that they will be excited to talk about. And as a bonus we get a weekly photo show of our babies. They are always reachable and quickly address any concerns. If a child is dismissed from this center it is because they are problematic for the other children and they have a whole class to protect. I can also say they would never do it out of the blue. There would be many warnings.

But the unethical part is they tell me on a Thursday afternoon when I go to pick him up, along with my 8 year old, that he can't return again. I was beyond furious. So just know if you choose this daycare, this is how they operate. They don't give you a warning or written notice that if certain behavior continues, they will kick your child out of their place. I had to take time off of work to find another daycare which is probably all a blessing anyways! My child was even at another daycare prior (I only changed because Seawell's was closer to my work) and I never had any problems. He was at Seawell's for almost 4 months. Maybe he was trying to tell me something! I wouldn't recommend this daycare to my worst enemy!

We love OCCS! We have two boys there ages 3 and 5. They get to experience learning through play…read moreand investigation and have fun doing it. They also learn important skills like expressing their feelings and acknowledging the feelings of others. They spend a lot of time outside exploring and playing and inside doing projects and research. We couldn't be happier with the experience at OCCS and the boys love it there too. The only downside is that they follow a school calendar so if you need full time care due to working there are multiple weeks and days off a year to juggle and you need a flexible schedule or back up care.

I had heard something good about it so off we went. It's tucked away beside the Target off Lawndale Rd. The daycare is an older style house made into a daycare center. As so, the driveway is as wide as a regular house driveway. This was an issue the moment we pulled in. Another car was leaving, and there's no where to pull to the side because of the wall or the dumpster. Since we couldn't back up into the middle of Lawndale, the other car backed up instead. We rounded the corner and parked in the lot, and then had no idea where to go. There was the main house and then a smaller building on the opposite side. I opted for the house and entered into the back door (or front door, not sure). I called out because I didn't see anyone but didn't get an answer. I walked through the house to a room full of kids. When I say full, I mean packed. It seemed like way too many kids for the room. I stood there for several minutes looking for someone before a teacher noticed me. She directed me to the other building. This was red flag #1. Anyone can walk in there and just walk into a classroom and no one noticed. When I walked out I met my husband outside who was looking up. Up at the roof. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned off in decades. There were bees flying around the entrance and frankly the area was not kept up. Ants were crawling all over the ground. Not exactly what you want to see when you know your child will be all over that ground soon. We walked to the smaller building where the younger kids were, though reluctantly at that point. Upon entering, a teacher was sitting in the classroom with a few children...and her boyfriend. Red flag #2. She pointed to the infant room a few feet away and the room had one of those doors where the top and bottom open and close independently of another. The top was open and I peer into the room briefly. The room was extremely clean and large. But what I noticed instead was a teacher sitting on a mat beside a baby doing tummy time. For those of you who don't know, tummy time should never be left unattended to, especially at younger stages. The teacher was a young lady with her cell phone in hand, scrolling through her Facebook. That did it for me. Even though we spoke to the other teacher in the room, who was professional and friendly, I had already made up my mind. I think it goes without saying we left and opted not to tour the rest of the rooms.
