He was actually just in my neighborhood looking for a different address, but in the process of helping him find his way, I mentioned how frustrated I was with my brand-new, noisy garage door. I told him I'd been using WD-40 to fix the squeaks, and instead of just nodding and driving off, Joe took the time to educate me. He explained that WD-40 isn't actually the right lubricant for garage doors and can sometimes make things worse. Without hesitation, he: * Went to his truck to grab the proper professional-grade lubricant. * Gave me a hands-on tutorial on exactly where to spray (and where not to). * Told me exactly what to look for at Home Depot so I could maintain it myself. It is so rare to find someone who provides that level of "above and beyond" service to a complete stranger without even charging a fee. Joe is clearly an expert who cares more about helping people and doing the job right than just making a quick buck. Then after they offered free in-person estimate to get a better view so I went ahead and took it. The guy never arrived but I didn't wait too long since Giselle called me before notifying me that he won't be able to make it the day of so instead the Owner or something took a look at the pictures and gave me an estimate. The price was a tad bit high so I went and looked for some other companies. I got a few options through Yelp (great way to use the service btw) and told them all the lowest price I got and if they would match vs compete. We then note that we have a lifetime warranty on springs. Nice ... We had explored another local small business with great service records and his pricing was less than a hundred difference. Probably should have gave him the deal in retrospect. The price of labor is quoted as over 300 now alone for maybe an hours work with Broten. The others were quite a deal less. Instead we set appointment for 2 business days later and request an early morning appt. "We only get to your area in afternoon is offered and window is 11am-3pm". You know it would be like winning lotto to get the early visit this Friday. Client initiated call to make sure we are still on a roster as holiday weekend coming. Tech arrived after 130pm. Tech is wonderful, Knowledgeable and loves working for Broten. His work was efficient and very little mess which is a plus for tech again. So this will likely be last use of Broten. We have purchased front doors, garage doors, motors and more over many years. It is now clear the only value and respect of revisit is the consumers.
