Just got off the phone with this company. After 10 minutes on the phone arguing exactly where my house is located, they refused the purchase, even though their web site says they deliver to JeffCo. You order wood, they come dump it on your lawn. It is a rather basic service at rates that seem to me to be a bit higher than average. Once they reopened the canyon I finally made it home and realized I needed to get ready for winter fast. Due to the flood, wood suppliers have a significant wait list and none that I called were able to deliver for at least a month! Since I live somewhat off-grid my primary method of winter heating is my wood stove so I needed something quick. I spoke with Jane who was not the most cheerful person I have ever spoken with and she was somewhat defensive off the bat as if she expected me to argue about her rates, which were nearly double what I expected. Then add extra for shorter lenghts (14") which I needed. Then add for delivery, on an on. If you pay in cash they'll give you a small amount of kindling. Everything else is additional charge. I believe in supply and demand, and since they were the only ones with the supply and could deliver I agreed to the price. When they showed up I expected them to either have it on a pallet or be able to stack it (for what they charge it was a resonable assumption). They just dumped it on my lawn, completely unsorted! When I asked if they were going to stack it I was told that it was $100 per cord extra to stack wood which would have put the price for two cords at just under $1000! Now it is my fault for not asking beforehand, but according to these folks two cords of split wood (1.5 pine, .5 oak) delivered and stacked should cost just under $1000. In the end they delivered what I ordered and the wood seems well seasoned. I would have given more stars if the price and service were better and the personalities a bit friendler. I also would have preferred if the oak was sorted separately from the pine. The service and value just is not enough to ensure any kind of loyalty. I recommend anyone needing firewood first shop around a bit more, and next year I will defintely order earlier in the season with someone like Bustamante. read more

They haven't returned calls or notes. Maybe they have some kind of emergency or something so I drove by their place. Pretty small operation. Their add seems exaggerated as the actual operation seems pretty small. Their place of operation also seemed deserted so maybe they did have some sort of emergency. Regardless, small family operations are prone to these sorts of issues and if you want reliability I suggest looking elsewhere first. read more

We have used High Timber for wildfire mitigation tree cutting around our acreage the past two summers. I have rarely met people who work as hard as the Pitzers and their crews. They are on time, they use heavy duty equipment, and they have the skill to handle even technical work like the large tree leaning up against our deck. They respected our property, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. I am told they do cost more than some other services, but their reliability, integrity, knowledge and skill makes it worth it. Jane provided us with a professionally worded letter describing our mitigation efforts, which earned us a reduction in our insurance rates. When the Cold Springs Fire erupted a half mile from our home last Summer, I felt as secure as anybody could, knowing that High Timber had just finished thinning and limbing up everything around our home, giving us defensible space. read more
