Once they reopened the canyon I finally made it home and realized I needed to get ready for winter fast. Due to the flood, wood suppliers have a significant wait list and none that I called were able to deliver for at least a month! Since I live somewhat off-grid my primary method of winter heating is my wood stove so I needed something quick. I spoke with Jane who was not the most cheerful person I have ever spoken with and she was somewhat defensive off the bat as if she expected me to argue about her rates, which were nearly double what I expected. Then add extra for shorter lenghts (14") which I needed. Then add for delivery, on an on. If you pay in cash they'll give you a small amount of kindling. Everything else is additional charge. I believe in supply and demand, and since they were the only ones with the supply and could deliver I agreed to the price. When they showed up I expected them to either have it on a pallet or be able to stack it (for what they charge it was a resonable assumption). They just dumped it on my lawn, completely unsorted! When I asked if they were going to stack it I was told that it was $100 per cord extra to stack wood which would have put the price for two cords at just under $1000! Now it is my fault for not asking beforehand, but according to these folks two cords of split wood (1.5 pine, .5 oak) delivered and stacked should cost just under $1000. In the end they delivered what I ordered and the wood seems well seasoned. I would have given more stars if the price and service were better and the personalities a bit friendler. I also would have preferred if the oak was sorted separately from the pine. The service and value just is not enough to ensure any kind of loyalty. I recommend anyone needing firewood first shop around a bit more, and next year I will defintely order earlier in the season with someone like Bustamante.

I was shocked when I went outside to load up for the first real week of subzero January days this year. Dan was busy cleaning our chimneys, while three of us were working from home and it was done before I knew it. No mess in the house from the chimney cleaning! We emailed this company to see about receiving a delivery of pinion firewood, as their site…read moredescribes such services, but they emailed us back (quickly, which was nice) that they weren't delivering this season, even though there was NO mention of this on their website. When we replied to their email letting them know that their website said otherwise and that they might want to improve it so they may deliver better customer service. We decided to check to see if they were part of the Better Business Bureau, and it turns out they are not. Which means they're not regulated by the government, which seems pretty sketchy to me.

The first time there was a mixup and he left the wood on the pallets that he normally charges extra for. The people that drop off the wood are always professional and leave the wood right where you tell them. His invoices always outline all of the charges and I have yet to see a hidden fee. If you live south of 36 and 25 there is an extra delivery fee however I'm ok with that because it's left in my driveway exactly where I want it. He also makes sure the pieces he sends are the right length for a wood stove and not a fireplace. He also gives discounts to repeat customers. This year he ran out of oak so he substituted pecan for the same price. Yes I can get it cheaper but I either I can't get it delivered or they charge a ridiculous fee. Honestly if you think a business is shady because they aren't part of the BBB, you're dumb. Being part of the BBB is voluntary not mandatory. I bet most of the establishments you visit are not part of the BBB.
