A reservoir path across the street that offers a dirt path around the reservoir surrounded by trees and wildlife There's a lot to enjoy in this park, lots of space for recreational activities. The reservoir path does get crowded during peak hours and some people don't really follow the "rules" posted (no fishing in reservoir or biking on path) but it's wonderful nonetheless.

Since my dear friend moved to Jersey City last year along with a furry family member we shared during the pandemic lockdown in 2020, she found Pershing Field Park as the new place in her neighborhood to take Rasputin, a Scottish Terrier, on one of his adventurous walks. Named for General John J. Pershing, nicknamed "Black Jack", who served most famously as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) on the Western Front during World War I. It also seemed to be very dog-friendly although I couldn't recall seeing any posted signs to acknowledge this. Obviously, the little black beast loved this place, but what about us humans!? PURCHASE Sorry, there was nothing to buy here. I didn't even see any street vendors unlike the abundance I would see back in L.A. SERVICE Of the several times I've visited the park, I've never seen any staff members or workers cleaning or tending to the various facilities (e.g. bathrooms, fields, general grounds, pool, trashcans, etc.). Thankfully, everything appeared to be well-kept generally speaking, except for the bathrooms which were always an issue at any public park wherever you went. PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance) A simple 10-minute one-way walk from my friend's place. Otherwise, there was a small onsite lot, and there seemed to be sufficient street parking along the main drag of Central Ave. and all surrounding roads - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A spacious city square corner and park located in The Heights, this had most if not all or more of what you'd expect from such a place. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops... if it weren't so freakin' cold. OVERALL I found Pershing Field Park very pleasing, relaxing, and such a joy for our fuzzy alligator, and would continue to visit it for years to come. It was in a safe area, and I would like to see how it was during the warmer months (I imagined more robust activities) versus the colder winter months when I visited. And darn it... Rasputin loved chasing the squirrels! I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $0.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, because there was nothing to buy, they didn't accept any form of payment that included my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

They stock the pond with fish, just make sure you have a license. I wish it wasn't so littered and that most of it was something other than alcohol containers and cogar wrappers.

I have been digging this park since it opened; there's so much to do here:…read more - Play ground with big kids and small kids sections - Dope sprinkler park - 2 tennis courts - 4 basketball courts - Baseball field - Bike and jogging path - Football/soccer turf field (with bleachers too!) - Dog run (with water fountain) - Fitness Circuit (9 stations) On most weekends there is usually an ice cream truck or two parked near the playground, but I have yet to see any other vendors. Throughout the park there are a couple different areas for bike parking and car parking is currently pretty easy on Garfield Ave, I hope that doesn't change! There are other parts of the park that are not open yet which I think will be the skate park and a lawn. There are benches throughout the park and picnic tables at the south end by the dog run. Jersey city has Liberty State Park and Lincoln park, which are good for jogging, biking, or chilling out on a blanket. Berry Lane Park is more activity orientated, kind of like a modernized Pershing Field. Berry park is a great addition to the neighborhood and Jersey City overall.

Plenty of benches scattered throughout, along with basketball court, gazebo, play structures, & swing set. We arrived just as the school nearby let out so we were in the company of parents watching their littles run off pent-up energy. We got a kick out of an older kid placing his scooter next to us & asking, "No one's gonna touch this right?!" Spent a chill hour at this park near downtown Hoboken.

Cameron field, where baseball, softball and other field games gather and "The Baird center" which is where all of the community and recreation affairs can be handled such as registering for youth team sports and tennis lessons. I have many memories of this park where much goes on in the spring and summer including hosting festivals and used to host 4th of July festivities. Still a great place to pass through and the most sprawled and varied park in town.

The park is big and there's a big parking lot but please note that during busy concerts the parking lot gets full so you can expect to park on the street if you don't arrive at least 30 minutes in advance. 10/4/25 Visit: We came to visit the large crane in the park…read more The Crane is a magnificent structure "not to be missed". The crane was manufactured by the Electric Launch Company (ELCO). It was used to lift the PT boats used in WWII. In the park, there's a plaque dedicated to the people who worked at the Elco Co. along with the service people who served on the PT boats. The park has other highlights: - Stunning marsh birds. - Enclosed viewing areas of the waters. - Lovely wooden bridge. - Benches. Looks like fishing is good here, as we saw several men fishing. During our visit, we did see law enforcement patrolling the area. Unfortunately, the restrooms needed attention. Other than the restrooms, The Richard A. Rutkowski Park is a "must see". There's ample parking along the water.
