There are a few ways to access this park, we decided to go from the Ansonia Nature Center. The transition over to State Forest is pretty subtle, mainly with some markings on the trees. This park is also adjacent to some watershed land, that is also marked really well. This park has some nice hiking trails, with a lot of different loop options. We ended up doing a 10k (6 miles) hike, on the white and purple loop trails. The trails are nicely blazed, and there's a really good variety of trees. We went through some hardwoods and some pine forest, and there were lots of plants and some water views of the reservoir at various points along the hike. It's not too strenuous elevation wise, which was nice for a moderate hike. Mountain biking is allowed in the park, and we saw several people out for a ride, so it seems a pretty popular location for biking, and the trails seem not overly eroded. My only complaint is this park is adjacent to a gun club, so for a good chunk of the hike (mostly the white trail) was done to the sound of near constant gunfire. It's not the most tranquil thing, especially if you're sensitive to that sound.

Lots of vines, roots, and rocks here. On my GPS trail maps, it says this trail has an elevation of 1000ft. Probably true because going downhill was speedy, loopy, and fun. Make sure you have your helmet, safety first! Overton is quite popular and it's also close to the Glacier trail, so do both if you can. Go and enjoy!!

This was the second hiking trail I found in Farmingivlle. This is a trail that you can hike on but I think it's meant more for mountain biking. I didn't have a whole day to complete the ten miles on the whole trail by hiking, I ended up doing about two miles before I found my way back. This trail was beautiful, but I generally give most trails about 5 stars. I love to get lost in the woods and just forget I'm on Long Island and this trail definitely helped me do that. From a hiking perspective I'd say try to get here as early as possible before mountain bikers start coming to use it. When I was on it I didn't see any mountain bikers.

Unfortunately I couldn't keep up but I plan to conquer it! Back to the blue trail for me and whew! My bow flex stations bike has nothing on Glacier! No pics cause I was to exhausted to worry about a phone! Lol next time. Carey also does gatherings with bbq's and Rockefeller oysters in the parking lot and night rides there. It's well lit at night. I'll definitely be back there more often. The mountain bike community is just a great community of people who always look out for each other.

It rises at Bedford, NY in Westchester, NY. Altogether, the park in both is a bit more than 220 acres total The trail is accessible from parking lots in Greenwich and Stamford that allow access to the park, but check to see if PARKING PERMITS ARE REQUIRED. Dogs should be kept on lead and under control, not just because it's the right thing, but also because there is wildlife in the park, Eagles nest in the areas and Black Bears are known to nest there. There is a Mianus Web site as also from Stamford and Greenwich. IN the 90s, a fishway was built to allow migratory fish to enter the river as they had previously. It's just a beautiful place that I once shared with a neighbor occasionally as we walked our dogs in the park, a rare time witha great person in early sages of cancer until she had to give it up.

The paths are very very poorly marked. They are old school - painted on the tree. But the marked trees are few and far between. You have to hunt to find the trees and even so they are missing. And the path is not obvious. We and others we happened upon along the way were off the trail a few times. And there is only one map at the start. So don't go here if you're not experienced. You will get lost in these woods. It's funny because we went to Rockleigh recently and the difference is like night and day. Those trails are all marked. Frequently. Such a shame.
