What an amazing place to have a beach day because only Westchester residence are allowed and their…read moreguest and everyone else has to pay. Additionally, it's kept more private, but not there's not tons of eateries so you have to bring your own food, but the bathrooms are amazing. Kept beautifully clean with changing rooms galore. It's an easy walk to the beach plenty of parking outside and people do go to the park outside, so it's wonderful there as well. Life preserves are given freely to those who cannot swim and encouraged, which is totally a plus as well. We sat there on the beach, waiting for the tide to come in. Had our food played some games with their hours and everyone was pleasant and nice too that came around. I actually would like to do this next year. I'm sorry I found out about this place this year at the end of the summer.

The park is large with lots of benches and space to sit or lay right on the water. There is lots of shade; there are many, many trees here. There is a new basketball court, flowers, benches, places to play and lay in the grass, etc. I love this place! It was quiet and refreshing. I would most definitely come back here!

I've been running on the OCA most every week for the past five years, and it's one of my favorite…read moreroutes in Westchester. I'm most familiar with the segments in Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown, but I've also run south from Tarrytown to Hastings-on-Hudson as well as from the Croton Dam (which is the the northern endpoint). The OCA runs along the old aqueduct route that served New York City between 1842 and 1955, and is part of the Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park. The trail's past life is most visible in the old weirs and ventilators, which look like medieval battlements and are located at regular intervals along the path. There also is a keeper's house along the trail in Dobbs Ferry that's open to the public. The trail is well marked, and offers runners a flat grade and dirt surface. It's wide enough for two-way traffic at social distance along much of its length, but there are points at which it narrows to a single track. There also are points where you will suddenly find yourself crossing streets, running through downtown areas, and passing through neighbors' backyards. Note that the trail is broken by I-287 in Tarrytown. You can exit the trail and run along the sidewalk to pick it up on the other side. One of my favorite parts of the OCA is that it connects to other parks and sights along the Hudson. In Sleepy Hollow, you can run directly from the trail into Rockefeller Park (including the Rockwood Hall section, which takes you to the river) and the scenic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Just south of 287, the trail takes you directly through the grounds of Lyndhurst. You can enter/exit the trail at numerous points, and for the most part you can find street parking (or pay for a spot in one of many municipal lots, if that's your thing). One especially popular free lot is Sleepy Hollow High School. The trail passes right through the campus, and there are plenty of spaces when school is not in session. Farther to the north, you can park for free along Croton Dam Rd (which takes you to the trailhead). I'm not aware of any restroom facilities besides those in Croton Gorge Park, which is located below the trailhead at the foot of the dam), and the trail is not plowed in the winter.

We visit Dobbs Ferry often and noticed a park off of Cedar Street, the Croton Aqueduct Park. Last night I did some recon and saw that there is a trail that resides within the park and figured I'd take advantage of the free time I'd have and do a run today. I dropped off my car and proceeded to the park. The trail continues right at the entrance. It's not paved which is great. It's starts off as loose gravel, so not too rough on your tootsies, and then it is an all-dirt path which great on the knees. Although, there are many large rocks so you should be very careful and pay attention where you step. During my run, I passed people who dotted the trail but for the most part, I was alone. I wasn't concerned at all. The trail passes homes and civilization so you don't really feel alone. It's really quite a beautiful trail with different terrain and nature surrounding. The deer and rabbits make it quite tranquil. I enjoy running in silence or listening to my Zombies Run app which is like listening to an audio book. I hate listening to music whole I run because the tempo never meshes with my stride. During this run, I took advantage of the natural sounds and ran in silence. The birds, the rustling of squirrels and the sound of my foot hitting the ground was music, enough. I sound like a hippy but this year my husband and I have discovered so many nature paths in our backyard and I just wish I had more warm months left in the year to enjoy them all.

I can see it's a place to be for hiking/trailing / biking/ exploring nature. I came here for tubing/sledding, a lot of snow/fresh snow. Not crowed , this place is a gem, hidden secretly. The fam had fun, good work out, alot of hills. Portable potty everything . A lot of history in this park.

This park is flanked on one side by the Hutchinson River Parkway so you don't quite get that…read morefeeling of being surrounded by greenery and enjoying a breath of fresh air, due to the air pollution. Still, it does have some nice shady sections with tall trees. We walked through on a Saturday. The park contains a sizable wave pool and splash pad for kids, which looked fun. It had quite a few wooden picnic tables, but not a lot of seating otherwise. Several large groups were having parties and cookouts, but it still felt pretty quiet. The park contains Pelham Lake, which is nice for a peek, but it's a bit murky and also has no benches along it. There is a path at the end of the lake that takes you through some grassy sections and out to the pedestrian bridge, which leads to downtown Pelham. It seems a bit sketchy when you first enter, but it's very walkable after you get through the first section, which is overgrown with shrubs. Overall, not the greatest park, but it's always preferred to have some greenery in the neighborhood and a place to enjoy the outdoors.

Great time here at the Rock Club…read more Purchased a Groupon and decided to visit on a Friday morning. Called ahead and the front desk staff were very quick in getting back to me to confirm that a belayer was available at that time. They also confirmed the Groupon over the phone. I went ahead and completed the required waiver forms online prior to our visit. Adequate parking was available at that time. The Rock Club (downstairs) shares its space with a with a tennis club, so make sure you follow the ramp down toward the Rock Club entrance and NOT the stairs whih leads to the tennis club. We arrived at around 10am and it was fairly empty. The Rock Club staff explained the process and set us up with climbing shoes. We were then introduced to our belayer who was awesome. Over the next hour, we tried climbs ranging in difficulty. The wall heights range from about 35-40 feet and the peg placement and wall angles vary throughout the climbs, making some more difficult than others. We even had some time to try some bouldering. Our belayer was great at explaining techniques and technical terms. She was very patient and very encouraging...though not "pushy" at all. After we finished, the staff was nice enough to show us around to see what else was available at the facility: childrens area, common areas, training rooms and weight rooms. May go without saying...wear comfy clothes. As a regular gym-goer, but someone who has NOT climbed before, this was a welcomed challenge. Certain muscles, particularly the forearms and core, may not be part of the typical gym regimen...but are very important in climbing...that being said, I was definitely feeling it the next day. Overall we had a great experience at the Rock Club. We will deinifitely look into other classes. Kudos to all the staff members there.
