Boyfriend and I moved to PA recently and have established this place as "our spot." I can see where some people come from with their gripes about customer service as they LOVE their regulars and can come across as aloof to others. Personally I don't mind the lack of small talk. Their breakfast sandwiches and biscuits and gravy are amazing, as well as their coffee. A billion different syrups and a daily new coffee to try as well as spritzers. It's always yummy, and they make their seasonal drinks year round. The girls are always nice to us, I think others think they're rude because they're usually busy and just try to get the job done. This is a great place unless you happen to get Kenzie as your server. Honestly, we just stay away because we don't want to get her, which is sad because we loved getting their breakfast sandwiches. Every time I've had the order messed up was because of her, and then if you mention it to her, she reacts poorly like like it's not her fault. If my order is messed up, I just want it fixed without flack or sneering comments. now we just stay away. it's happened too many times. But everyone else here is top notch and professional, and the drinks and food are excellent. read more

One of our favorite coffee stops in Washington! We stopped here twice when traveling through Port Angeles, it's a cute little blue building on the edge of town. They are very busy during peak morning hours, but even with a full shop we never waited more than 5 minutes. Breakfast sandwiches were fresh and tasty and an absolute deal for under $5. Espresso, drip, and spritzers were all tasty and a great way to start the day. We didn't try the drive thru since it was always full, but the parking lot is big and makes it easy to just step inside to order. It's connected to a convenience store, which is great if you need to grab anything before your day. All of the ladies working there were polite and patient. Used to be my go to and always had good customer service. No longer the case. Rude barista who doesn't have the temperament or patience to work in a coffee shop that can be extremely busy. You make eye contact with your customers or how do 4 different customers know who you are speaking to? We were told to come get rung up only to have the barista ignore us and head to the drive thru window and help them instead. Fairly certain she heard me mention how rude she was and then our drinks took longer than ever to get made. I will say the barista making our drinks was pleasant. There was trash in the areas where food was being prepared. A person came in to help and failed to wash their hands before starting to refill containers of supplies- without gloves on. Service and quality have taken a nose dive. read more

I was SO excited to try this place based on the reviews but after I placed my order I overheard the barista loudly say "Ew, I would never do that" after I asked for pumpkin cold foam on my blended chai (something I do all the time at other espresso places with no issue?) The manager then came to the window and said they were being "extra nice" and doing it for me but that they would not do that again in the future. Like straight up scolded me. Then the barista who took our order the first time came back and asked "is it good??" like waiting for me to hate it and it was delicious. It left me feeling really bad and shamed for something I get all the time and doesn't seem that out of the box of an order. Anyway go here at your own discretion, I'm sure most people have an overall positive experience and the food and drinks are good but my service was so bad and we were nothing but nice :( If you are the manager/staff and reading this, please know that we can hear what you're saying through the drive thru window. If you're going to be mean and rude at least do it quietly. read more

I love places like this - no frills, just great coffee that doesn't cost $6-7 per drink. We got 3 drinks and it only costed $12!!! That is unheard of now. I got one of their fall drinks (can't remember the name but it was the cold brew with some pumpkin foam) and it hit the spot. I don't normally do many reviews but I'm upset with my experience this morning. Went in to get a quad shot brown sugar latte iced. When I received it (20 minutes later, they were packed) I asked them if there were 4 shots because it tasted really light. The nice cashier asked the barista if there were the right amount of shots in there and the barista snapped back "um NO because I didn't know there was supposed to be" I said, well I paid for that and ordered it that way. The cashier said ok I'm sorry she's training. Almost like an excuse to her behavior. I wish I would have got her name because the way she said it was awful! And I know the owner would not tolerate that, she's amazing! I was really nice about it all but come on an 8$ drink I'd like it to be right and if not no big deal I go here to this coffee bar at least once or twice a week! Aug 23 - I called ahead to order a deli sandwich. I do not recommend this place, so I encourage youy to avoid them. When I went in to pick up the sandwich, literally, NOBODY was masked, despite a week-old county-wide requirement that ALL indoor employees wear a mask. I asked them about it. Both the blond lady in the coffee shop, and those at the other end (Grandview), made light of it "They are uncomfortable". Jeff Wilsey, a former co-worker of mine recently died from COVID. He f-ing died. Before he got covid? He was fine. I have little tolerance of folks who literally do not give a single F for their neighbors, and less tolerance of those who openly flout the laws. So, until they come into compliance with the laws, with basic decency, and show respect for us, their neighbors, I encourage y'all to avoid Higher Grounds, and Grandview Grocery. My husband went to get us coffees this morning, and he was the first there and the last to leave! He says when he came into the store he ordered two coffees, and had to wait over 20 mins. The girls addressed each person (AFTER my husband ordered) by name -obviously these people are common in the store which isn't the issue - but it has became a issue. its bad service when somebody has entered and ordered and had to wait over 20 minutes for two drinks when they had the time to make them; his drink was incorrect but he was too frustrated by then to ask for it to be fixed. It's great that you know some individuals, but focus on the customer service?!?! read more

I went in this morning, and all three barista's were without masks during Covid-19, breathing and talking over open food and drinks that were being served to customers. For this reason I will not be back, and I will not be recommending these locations to anyone. Its beyond disgusting and endangering people's lives. I went there and ordered a 32 ounce Americano with 3 extra shots. When my order was ready they gave me an iced Americano with three extra shots. I said I wanted a hot coffee. The girl tells me that the 32 ounce only comes in iced coffee. The sign does not indicate this at all. It just gives you the different sizes with the different prices. I told her I don't want the iced coffee that I want the hot coffee and she tries to ring me up for another coffee. I told her I already paid for the coffee I'm not paying for another coffee. She says we already use the product and you have to pay. I said the sign doesn't say that this only comes in iced coffee in the size. She asked me have you been here before? I said no. I said I'd like to talk to your manager. She says my manager is not here right now. She then asked the other girl what to do? The other girl then tells her just to go ahead and make my coffee. I am satisfied with the response that the other girl gave. But I am totally upset with the way the cashier treated me. read more

This was the cutest stop in Port Angeles! We went to Walmart after Hurricane Ridge and just happened upon Higher Ground Espresso, when we wanted coffee. It's on the corner of the Wal Mart lot. There was only one worker working and we had to wait a few minutes before we placed our order but it was well worth it. We ordered iced chai teas, coffee, sausage egg and cheese and bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. They were all fresh and excellent. I would highly recommend this cute little coffee shop for a good price and quick meal. Skip the fast food and come here! read more

Best place in PA that I know of. I prefer a slower environment and this is more of a come 'n' go place then a sit and enjoy, but nonetheless the coffee is still excellent. tip: It can get REALLY busy sometimes and it can be hard to find parking. A really nice and small coffee shop, the people are friendly. They are fast at making drinks but some mornings there's people waiting in line that goes out the door, so it takes a little while to order. The drive through is a little slow. Baristas here seem to get very flustered/overwhelmed when it gets busy, which is quite often, and all quality standards seem to go out the door. Paid for an awful drink too many times. Normally I love this coffee stand! Good prices and good drinks/sandwiches... But today I went there and had a terrible experience, we had just pulled up to the window and my boyfriend asked me which smoothie he should get (blueberry or mango wildberry) and the girl at the window says "I only have one blender, so let's hurry it up guys, come on." Acting extremely annoyed like we are wasting her time or something (there were no cars behind us, and it was not a busy time for them so I don't understand her rushing us)... Then, when we got our drinks (blended vanilla chai and wildberry mango smoothie) the flavors were great but it was so hard to drink because they had ice chunks the through the whole thing.
