Personally, we enjoyed this park more as it was paved and had more amenities, such as exercise equipment and children's play spaces. It could definitely use more culture and zhuzh as there were many spots where a bit of design (such as a mural) would have improved the vibe. But that being said, it wasn't too bad for a mid-sized neighborhood park. Our favorite areas were the small overlook with stone bench and the bridge that connected back to the trail towards Lakes. Sadly, like Lakes, some of the trails that lead down from the bridge were a bit washed out so we didn't get explore as much as we would have liked but all in all we much enjoyed getting some steps in and would definitely come back - but perhaps on a day where it's not raining.

These two parks are often confused as one park, but they actually intercept each other. This is an excellent place to bring the kiddies as there is a pretty large play structure in tow. There's also a huge grassy field that's perfect for picnicking and other recreational activities. The walking paths are all paved and lead to other trails within nearby Hidden Lakes Park. There's tons of picnic space and each picnic area can be reserved for special events. You'll find a good amount of exercise equipment near a few of the walking paths. Parking is easy and there are clean restrooms on site. This is the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a light run. The large grassy field space is also very desirable for dog owners. I immediately noticed how clean this park was as soon as I arrived. They definitely do an excellent job of cleaning and maintaining this area. I'd say that this is one of the better local parks in the area.

When I went there were a couple of kids and all of them were very friendly. Great stop for the kids if your driving around doing errands since it's so close to Walmart and Lucky's. Everything seemed cleaned and worked nicely. So it's very well maintained. There are benches and tables for kids/adults. Nice swing structure and different climbing structures. Love all the multiple slides as well. Everything felt nice and safe. Highly recommend. I like the fact I haven't seen some of these structures at previous parks. Meaning the fake rock to climb on and the spinning colors and one of the music features. Very fun and entertaining.

Bathrooms were closed due to Covid19. I should have used the trees up above but I thought I saw a homeless person so didn't. It's about 1/2 a mile to the bridge from here. We did have our lunch on a picnic table after our hike and they had a trash can we used.

Review #156 - 2019…read more After our quick stroll at the Carquinez Strait, we still had plenty of time to kill while waiting for my nephew to finish up with his football practice, so I decided to bring the girls here while the boys went to play basketball over at John Swett Middle School. There are two separate play structures so my daughter had a great time running back & forth between them. There's a climbing structure, which she bravely climbed all the way to the top a few times as well. My 14-year old niece spent the whole time on a swing since there wasn't anyone else around to use it. We pretty much had the whole playground to ourselves for a good half an hour before other kids showed up. My daughter made friends with a 2-year old boy & they both saw a turkey & started chasing it. Thank goodness the turkey didn't chase them back. I like the fact that there are lots of trees so it has a nice shade for hot summer days, but I'm sure it's much colder during fall & winter.

The park looks deceivingly small when entering the park for Rudgear, and soon it opens up to some fairly large sports and open fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, dog friendly areas etc., all within a generous green belt. Walnut Creek is blessed to have these kind of parks and lots of regional park-like open space.

They would run around and climb on the slide or take them to the swing. They have several table where you can sit and have a snack. The place is wide open and our kids enjoy just running around and play with other kids. We usually go before noontime and the place is not crowded. We see only a couple of kids playing. It is also very much baseball-centric with multiple baseball fields, batting cages, etc. There is also a large grass field that could be used for a variety of other activities, including soccer. Although I'm not sporty, I do like local parks and beautiful spaces for people of all ages to participate in physical fitness activities. There are a a few picnic sites with 7-8 tables each and two are nicely covered with giant shade structures. There are also lots of water fountains, garbage/recycling bins, and lots of individual picnic tables and benches. There are bathrooms and a snack shack on one side, but I think those may just be for use during baseball games. There is a small playground and they seem to have plans to upgrade.
