    Gorgeous after the rain.

Martinez doesn't have much to do in the city. There's schools. There's parks. There's places to eat. There's places to live. I mean sure we got what is it that jail spot or the John Muir place. But it's a nice little city. I don't mind coming here for work or for some new areas to look at. I like coming to this park to relax while the kids I babysit or my brother (depends on the day) go and play. There's a bunch of seating here. Designated picnic areas filled with tables. Not much have shade unless you sit in the area by the play structures. Nice little trails or pathways too! Good for a run or walking your dog. A whole lot of green too. Let's you play fetch with your pet, have a good game of tag, or play a sport like soccer. I haven't seen any defilement of the premises or anything like that. No shady characters either. No one has gotten their car broken into. It's really nice and good for the community. It's right next to a lot of housing, a school, and two other parks. Definitely a treat for the neighborhood!

We now live close to this park and I'm so glad we do. It's awesome! It's always clean and well maintained. There's a big kids play area and a little kids play area. It takes me 30minutes to just coax my son away from them. My sister comes here with her lab and plays ball. The amount of room for dogs is unprecedented. A few dogs can play ball at the same time and not get into any conflict. I've heard that the trails meet up with Hidden Lakes Park but with my son with me it's hard to go explore. He never wants to stop playing! You can rent out the picnic tables for birthday parties. Which there seems to be one every weekend. So book early. There's also plenty of parking in the private lot or in the street. We love it here. It's a great place for little ones to get their wiggles out and for doggies to get nice and tired.

A perfect place to throw a birthday party! We came here on a weekday to play and was pleasantly surprised. There are two play structures, one for younger tots and one for the older kids. Swings, seesaw and a huge grassy area for free play. Plenty of shaded area where the picnic benches are and bathrooms are close by. Cleanliness in the picnic area could have been much better but overall I was pleased with the overall tidiness of the park.

When I was a kid we use to come to this park and play on their huge cement slide, unfortunately the slide is now a faded memory. It is no longer there. When I was in high school it was known as stoner park, I have a feeling it is still known to locals as stoner park. None the less, my daughter and I had fun enjoying the sunshine and fresh air at this park.

One of the best and newly remodeled parks in Martinez. It's has so many picnic tables now, I just know that this park will be very popular!!

There are so many overrated parks around - this is not one of them. I think its an underrated park in an underrated city. Martinez is one of these cities that just isn't Walnut Creek or Danville or Orinda. A more affordable city and a family friendly one. Its good to get out and take a walk. I recommend you do that once in a while and why not try a different park from what your used to every once in a while? If you have a dog they will particularly love it sniffing around someplace new. Some of the park is noticed from the main road - Morello. You might even see some people enjoying the basketball hoop from there. Just the 'curb appeal' of the park will get you interested to see more. When I got here with Sweets had in gear this launch mode I hadn't seen since he was a bit younger. His enthusiasm was intense and I was surprised since for the most part he just likes to stay at home - Netflix and chill. There really is something for the whole family to enjoy here. A very underrated park that you need to make time to see one day soon.

I don't mind short trails, but I had to fill up my daily step requirement elsewhere and headed over to Briones for that purpose. That's not to say this trail wasn't worthwhile. It most definitely was as the 13% grade wasn't insurmountable. It allowed nice views of the Carquinez Strait and Mount Diablo at the top. The circuitous trails were surrounded by various oak trees and wildflowers. I made an attempt at following the riding trail that goes through a gamey tunnel under the highway, but it made a dramatic climb which deflated my unearned self-image of a seasoned hiker. Regardless you can see why John Muir took pleasure in taking his daughters with him through these hills. Wanda was the name of his eldest daughter. The trailhead is directly to your right at the Alhambra Avenue exit off Hwy 4. RELATED - Up for a hike? Here's a collection of trails I've walked and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2OrC8nU

My man and I are hiking here every other weekend at least. The dog loves it. We recently did the Full Moon Hike that is put on by the Rangers. The kids tagged along. Its free and one of the few times you're allowed on the Mt. during the night. The kids had a wonderful time meandering around in the dark. It was fun to be out of our element with flashlights. The moon was beautiful. The only negative is ticks. We went hiking on Thanksgiving morning with our dog and proceeded to pull seven ticks off our dog. The most yet. Wear bug spray and make sure that your dog is properly protected. Morning, noon or night this is a great hike to take.
