This is a great park for kids of all ages! The fenced in toddler area was great when the kids were really small, and the huge sand pit is always a big hit with the littles. The bigger playground has different size slides and things to do for a variety of ages. read more

We went to the pups in the park event at Pleasant Hill Park and had such a fun time today they had all kinds of booths and entertainment and music and food and adoption opportunities. There were food trucks and people and dogs had a great time. read more

A very nice park located not far from Downtown Pleasant Hill!! You can tell it's a neighborhood park, lots of kids playing at the playground and on the baseball field. There is also an aquatic center and a teen center here. And there is plenty of space for picnics and BBQs. Lots of big, tall trees here, which I know comes in handy on hot days, because it does get very hot here in the summer time!! read more

IMHO This review is for the Teen Center venue at the park. We were there for a birthday party held within the Teen Center. There is a large parking lot, which is a big plus. I was afraid I'd have to cruise for street parking. Nope! The venue is large and bright, with an attached kitchen and bathrooms. Large square footage for a big party. There is a foosball table in the back available for use. I hope I attend another family birthday party here in the future! read more

A well-kept and well-maintained park with a decent number of parking spaces. Excellent for families with children and/or dogs. There are numerous eateries in the vicinity where you may stop in and have a bite to eat. There are mature trees that shade this playground on hot, bright days, which we like. Slides offer a variety of balancing and climbing challenges. There are two tire swings, but no regular swings in the area. Sandbox is large but towers and slides are not tall enough for the children to play with. Parking at the senior center is generally more convenient to the playground than parking at the intersection of Cleveland. Best of my knowledge the toilets on the east side of the teen center building, facing Cleveland, are the ones that are clean and well-maintained. If you're lucky, you'll find restrooms within buildings. One point off is that you need to make sure where you step, as people don't usually clean up after their pets here. read more

this is a lovely park with all the amenities a family could want, whether you have small or big kids! i came here to play with my nieces, aged 5 & 9 and they were thoroughly entertained at the playground with various slides, swings, and bars. for the older kids and adults, there's a basketball court, baseball diamond and swimming pool. there's also a ton of grassy area for soccer, football, frisbee or just putting down a blanket for a picnic. the building has men's & women's restrooms and there's a ton of parking in the dedicated parking lot, or you can park along the street. read more

Review #323 - 2019 I've never been to this park before, but I saw a Facebook invite for a Veteran's Day event so I decided to bring the kids to stop by and show our support, especially being that my stepfather is a Vietnam Veteran. I didn't expect much from the event, but it was really nice. I even managed to sign the recall Newsom list since I'd been planning to go in to an office to handle that. Luckily, they were there so I got that out of the way. Yay! The park itself is really nice & big! It has two separate kids's playgrounds so my daughter and nieces were able to enjoy them. We spent almost two hours there. There's a full basketball court and a baseball field as well. I'll definitely bring the kids back should we happen to be in the area. read more

This is a great neighborhood park that is located at Gregory Lane and Cleaveland Road, diagonally across from Pleasant Hill City Hall. It is an expansive park that includes the Pleasant Hill Swimming Pool, the Pleasant Hill Teen Center, the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District Office, and the Pleasant Hill Senior Center. The entrance to the large parking lot is on Gregory Lane. When it's a busy weekend, it can take a bit of time to circle to find a parking spot. However, you can also park on the street. From the parking lot, you can walk over to the swim center, which has two pools and lessons for kids. Walking past the pool, there is a large covered picnic area that is an excellent spot for event gatherings, club bbqs, and family celebrations. Looking out from the picnic area, there are two baseball fields with a huge soccer field sandwiched in between. There are local community baseball leagues that play here, as well as kids' leagues. The City of Pleasant Hill also puts on outdoor events here! There are several basketball courts nearby as well that are popular. On the other side of the pool, there is even more to the park! There are two playgrounds that are really fun and that kids enjoy. Plus, there is more green space where you can set up a picnic or host a children's birthday party. There is a second parking lot, but it is in front of the senior center, although community park goers do park there are well. This is excellent park that is dedicated to the local community. read more

This is the park that I take my son when he gets a little too bored around Gayle's house. Gayle and I also take the grand-kids here. Pleasant Hill Park is large, pretty, safe, and nicely maintained. Facilities include a few nice playgrounds, lots of open green space (with trees and shade), picnic areas, a pool complex, reasonably clean rest rooms, and plentiful parking. My only complaint is that it's a bit of a schlep and is not right in the neighbourhood as is our beloved Terrace Park in Albany. read more

Awesome Park In The East Bay Community of Pleasant Hill SITREP When trooping across the 24 from the Bay Area / Peninsula into the 680 corridor of the East Bay, and plowing towards the 4 (on my way eventually to the Benicia Bridge and beyond to Sacramento), it's easy to jump off on Gregory Lane since this is a great evening stop for me to catch some chill time before I dare hit the commute traffic again. THE SETUP This park has a great set-up, and let me start off by saying loud & first that it has OPEN PUBLIC RESTROOMS!!!! Clean. Working. Did I say "Clean"? Open. Rest Rooms!! So if I have to take a potty break, I don't have to feel guilty going into a nearby restaurant or fast food joint that I have intention buying anything from. PICNIC AREAS! So plentiful, so large, so many different ones. And the table area where our group was located was very expansive, with BIG picnic tables, a sizeable BBQ pit and lots of room to put our stuff down in. PLAYGROUND Awesome playground! If I were a kid, this would be my permanent after-school hangout. [I'd be away from mom (yayyyy!). But then, mom would know where to find me (boooooo!).] GROUP ACTIVITIES & FUN! There is full-on bocci ball court and they do have a local league which was fun to watch. We also brought some bag-toss stands with bags to toss into the holes. Always fun to watch our friends dexerity with the toss (or lack thereof) for sh*ts & giggles. PARKING Ample car parking on both sides of this recreational area (and since it is quite a large expansive park). THE LOWDOWN Pleasant Hill Park is an awesome local recreational stop for both families and adults, and even provides on occasion a MUCH NEEDED restroom pit-stop for the intrepid motorists. read more

This park has everything!! A diamond field, kids park, huge grassy area to run your heart's desire, and a trellis for shade. They even have a nice family picnic areas for private parties (with built in BBQ), and yes... they take RSVP and very affordable for 1/2 a day, or make it a full day! Plus, this park is right next door to Pleasant Hill Aquatics Park with a complete pool with diving board and lifeguard on duty!! Since my family lives nearby, we gather here for our get together during the summer months and have a crabfest and oyster galore! Plenty of parking both in the lot, as well as off street parking. Restrooms are very clean, and if you get super hot during the summer months, you can just cool yourself off at their public pool next door, for just a few dollars! For us dog owners, we do need to keep our paw kids on a leash at all times, but there are plenty of walking path for a nice power walk. Until then, Cheers! ~ :p read more

A bit of a crowd near the picnic tables, so my family went the opposite way and found a random shady spot in the grass near the street. A bit close but still hidden in view by the big tree so it worked. I remember I came here last year for an easter egg hunt for the kids so the park is very spacious. I believe a lot of events are held here (of course not during covid). Great place to take a breather and enjoy a quick picnic with your kids. Probably not the best idea to sit near the playground cause the kids wanted to go and play even though it's closed. +1 for cleanliness too. Nice big lawn to sit so everyone can spread out, has restroom with seat cover, has picnic tables. has a bike/walk lane around the park, and has a neighborhood garden that was cute. Land, lots of land, under sunny skies above. Several large ballfields. Sand volleyball court. Large swimming pool. Teen center, with senior center close by. Two great playgrounds separated by a sand play area, and the tot lot is fenced in. Centrally located restrooms, clean. Small area to grow your own produce. Picnic area great for large groups. Here's what you don't have: a lot of parking. We usually need to park on busy Gregory Lane to get to the playground. Good suburban park to check out. Whatever you do at these types of parks, chances are it's there. read more

Ahh those who live in the area..I seriously am envious! I don't venture out much to Pleasant Hill but I went to a (kiddo's) Birthday Party held at the park yesterday and I was in awe! This is a LARGE park with lots of facilities. There are a couple of children playing areas, swimming pool and picnic areas with plenty of parking. The picnic areas are shaded which were awesome for the hotter months. The grounds were very well maintained and manicured, pretty clean too! It's the end of Winter so we were the only ones picnicking and it was not necessary to reserve a table as nobody else was there to have a picnic. But I would imagine that during summer months it will be packed with people doing BBQ and picnics! The BBQ grills were larger than most other parks I've been too! Even during the colder months... maybe also because it was sunny yesterday, the park was filled with kids, parents and adults throwing footballs, Frisbees and lots of kiddos in the playgrounds... lots of dogs too..but don't think there is a dog park adjacent to this particular park though. I don't see a restroom. but maybe I was just not really looking for one. You who live in the area...should certainly check this place out.. what a great outdoor space! read more

This park is a great place to take younger kids. My 15 month old son had so much to do to keep him busy. There is a sandbox with seating around it so that parents can watch their children play safely. That was very popular for the baby set. There is also a Tot Lot in addition to the big playground with toddler appropriate playground equipment that was perfect for climbing. There are only two swings, so if you have a family with siblings, you might have to wait a while. Otherwise, it's a great playground to spend the morning at! read more

No matter your fitness level you can definitely enjoy some outdoor time here. This place is Awesome! If your looking for a great adventure that's outdoors, this is the place! I love to go here with my family and friends! Great for working out, or even a picnic in the shade! It's a lovely for everyone to have a great time! If I ever felt like running away from the house and spending time with nature, my first choice place would be Pleasant Hill Park. It's right next to downtown, and the park. There are many different ways to enter to the park. Nevertheless, the park isn't as packed as lot of people expect it to be. A lot of the picnickers here are friendly and there's a lot of scenery to admire from this local regional park. I'm so happy that I got the opportunity to come discover this park! A wonderful location to for anyone that just wants to get away for a little bit and doesn't want to drive far away for some nature. My friend and I parked just right outside the We leisurely walked inside and came across a picnic area. It was windy that day, but it was a nice and easy walk up. Tucked away in the redwood studded side of Gregory Lane sits Pleasant Hill Park. We discovered the park last year and have made it a regular play stop. Its huge! Your kid will never get tired, never. There's climbing things, there's sliding things, there's tunnels and a sand pit. They could play on the pirate ship like bridges or go over and climb inside the space ship looking things in the sand. I really enjoy the large surrounding redwood trees. Its smells like fresh forest here. Its a wonderful park. Now, with my little 19 month old they have an enclosed small kids area that the bigger kid also enjoys. Its like the small dog park area, except for your small child. They cant escape and run away! Make a play date and get those kids over here to tire themselves out ASAP! read more

RAWWWRRRRR - That's the scary sound I would make while working at the Haunted House located at this park during my Junior High School years. I think they still put it on annually. It was a lot of fun as a kid to meet at the park during the month of October and paint props, design the walk-thru scare rooms and practice our scary screams and roars. In the summer months, my Mom often dropped my little sister and me off at the pool. We played Marco Polo with the other girls and boys. Lots of friends were made in the water. I remember having crushes on a couple of the boys and how excited I would be when we'd all get to swim in the afternoons. While at DVC, I started playing basketball more frequently for exercise, and I sought out nearby parks to play out. There are a few hoops here (Larkey Park and the park on Oak Road were my other favorite spots). If I recall, P. Hill Park's hoops were a little beat up, but playable nonetheless. I also played on an adult co-ed softball league a few years ago and several games were at the field at this park. Lots of fun! I learned I'm a much better basketball player than softball, but making new friends was really the best part anyhow! Great park - and lots of great memories. read more

It's a mega-playground! The kids had crazy fun running between the various play structures, and there seemed to be something for everyone: climbers, swingers, hangers, sandboxers, runners, jumpers, etc. The areas designed for bitties were helpfully enclosed, and there was plenty of seating for the creaky old parents in all of the areas. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, and there are lots of big trees for shade. There were a few restroom stations and a number of picnic areas, all in good shape. We didn't have any problem getting a spot in the parking lot. People were quite friendly there, too. I was impressed with how many "excuse me's" and "please's" I heard from the shorties playing there. This is my favorite playground yet. read more

This is the park closest to my grandson's home, and it is a winner... I took Darren there yesterday.... although it was a cloudy rainy day, we lucked out & the rain held off for awhile. So with juice box and iced coffee in hand we had chase games over the grassy hills, played on all the equipment he could maneuver [he's 2 ]. I give the parks dept. credit for keeping up with the maintenance & beauty of the place. It is laid out so well with the older kids climbing structure, then the younger kids area & structure which is fenced. I do wish they had lower, kid size tables, chairs & benches in the toddler area. What they have is extremely tall... adult legs dangle too. The only other minor complaint I have are the too-tall risers on the steps onto the toddler structure... makes it difficult to let your child try himself to get up or down. So Darren has a ball here... plenty of paths to ride a playcar, things to climb, grass to run & roll in. He even had his 2nd birthday party here in Oct & it was perfect. After having checked out nearly every park in Contra Costa this one is our family favorite. The toddler playground is fenced in and all of the structures are age appropriate. Huge grassy areas and a looping track around the field to scooter on. Large mature trees that give great shade and nice picnic areas that we have had meals at. Great parking and always has lots of other kids without being crazy crowded like Civic Park in WC. read more

Great place to take the kids! I went here with my nephew a few times and he absolutely loved it because there is so much space for him to run around and have fun. In addition, there is also a playground for him to play on. Furthermore, it is also a great place for adults who are looking to be more physically active since there is a paved walkway that forms throughout the park to either walk or run depending on your preference. This playground shares a parking lot with the Pleasant Hill Park Pool. We have probably been to all of the playgrounds within the three mile radius of our home, and we've found this to be the best play area for the 4-7 age set. The structure is just a little more challenging, with a chain bridge, a wooden beam suspended bridge, a variety of swinging monkey bar crossings, a few slides (some tube-like, some twisty) and some chin up bars. The favorite part of the play structure is a pair of gliders, where the child holds on to this bar, pushes off, and glides over to the other side. It's just challenging enough where the smaller kids need help to reach and 5-6 year olds make it most of the time. It's a very simple thing really, but the glider activity alone entertains them for at least a half hour. Be aware that during the summer, you have to plan to be here early to avoid the mid-day heat. Today, for example, we have already hit 100 degrees! Plus, pack some water or juice boxes in a cooler. If you forget the juice boxes, well never fear -- there is a Jamba Juice within walking distance! read more

Water fountain by little league field broken for a couple of years; "remodel" of area and they just removed it! Guess kids in that area don't need water! Excellent park for toddlers and older kids to run around and waste energy! Our apartment got flooded so we had to stay in a residence inn for a few weeks in pleasant hill. This was my go to park to take my son for nice walks and to let him run around. It is never crowded, has a cute toddler area to play in and an area for older kids to crawl and run. I used to come to this park a lot in my younger years. It's nicely landscaped and no major garbage laying around. For awhile I did water aerobics here, it was pretty fun and great exercise. One thing that made me stop going was the horribly small parking lot. When there are soft/baseball games, the guys playing basketball and water aerobics all going on at the same time there is no parking. There are also some picnic areas and the pool can be rented out for parties. The city host many activities at this park which makes me wonder why the parking hasn't been addressed. It is centrally located and well within walking distance from many neighborhoods. read more

This is one of my favorite parks. It's enclosed with a fence ... I feel safe here. Mommy really throws the ball in this park. I have to run and run and run to get it. My sister, Wave, also runs around but she can't get the ball from me. I'm faster. Sometimes, mommy holds me back while she throws the ball for Wave. She does this cause I'm faster than Wave ... Soccer league is a joke, here's why: - Third World soccer fields. A teammate almost broke his ankle because parts of the field have massive holes that are filled with sand, which give you a false sense of ground firmness. - Referees are horrible - inconsistent and lazy - they do not follow the play instead stand in midfield and make line calls 40 - 50 yards away. They are inconsistent from game to game and one ref appeared to have been drunk on multiple occasions. He approached one of my players speaking gibberish before a match. - The rules are bizarre and pathetic. You will NOT be playing soccer, but a weird mutated version of the beautiful game. If you are a true soccer player and fan, the rules will drive you nuts. It's designed to castrate you. It must have been designed for over-intellectualized, over-civilized, PC wussies. I wouldn't be surprised if every team received a trophy at the end of the season. Overall, it's total dog doodoo (oh there is a good chance you'll step on or fall in some doodoo in one of the fields)...anyway, you're better off finding a real league that respects the integrity of the game. read more
