I give Dr. Lee five stars in the dental clinic as well as her assistant Anyen It is very difficult for me to go to the dentist so they are having distraction for the first time of my life. I was woke. The only thing I felt honestly was the pressure just so she explained she was very thorough about keeping me updated step-by-step, and completed the process With almost no pain. I cannot believe it. I'm so happy to say I've done it but only with Dr. Lee at Highland Hospital she was the best I've ever seen in my 50+ years of life. With a little laughing, gas and lidocaine.

It's Sept 2024, and my job sent me to Highland Hospital on Kaiser business. Security entry at the main entrance requires walking thru a metal detector, possible wanding, and dumping all your stuff in a bin. On Sept 3, the guards were very nice and professional. The process is quick. They're looking for weapons, and there's an "Amnesty Dropbox" right outside. I had to go to Radiology, which is on the 3rd floor of the new building. It's a long walk from the main entrance. On the way, I walked pass the ER and a security checkpoint. You get to X-Ray, and I have to wait. The Record Clerk goes on lunch, and no one covers her desk while she's gone. A line forms, and everyone just waits. Overall, I good experience at this County hospital. I can never say anything bad about Highland because they saved my life in 1989. As always, thank you.

Ask the Community - Highland Hospital

My grand daughter (19 years old, but mentally 6 years ) needs her wisdom teeth removed. She is Special Needs and has seizures and may need to be sedated. Can I feel comfortable having it done at Highland Hospital?

I'm inclined to say yes, but you should ask them questions and let them know what the situation is. Highland Hospital is a teaching hospital, and a #1 Trauma facility. Our experience with the doctors and staff was amazing, and I can only assume… Read more

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland…read more This review is for the 3rd floor, Surgery Intake. Upon checking in, I was called in pretty quickly and was seen right away. The care I've received was phenomenal! The first nurse who registered me in was super supportive. I didn't get her name but she was a G.I nurse prior and a nurse for 20 years, she wore all red, has short hair with cute glasses! She was very informative, helpful and direct. It was a great experience! There were many staff who also help me to relax about the whole procedure. I honestly don't remember the surgery but remember the after care. The staff who cared for me were Chris, Gia and Senora/ Cinora. Chris made sure I was awake and aware when the anesthesia wore off before sending me to the recovery room where I met nurse Gia. Nurse Gia helped me with understanding the after care instructions, made sure I was well and okay to leave. It was cool to get to know her as well, we have very similar birthdays and I think that was cool! Senora/ Cinora was very kind and sweet. Overall, I had a great experience with 3rd floor- Surgery Intake and would highly recommend them to other people. Thanks to all the medical staffs and doctors also!

Every staff and nurse we've met so far has been helpful and friendly, especially in taking care of my elder parents. So far no issues. The inside and getting to the medical office is like a maze though. Haha You can easily get lost like I did. The parking is an issue for me as you have a garage parking but can only be validated for a few hours for free and then you pay. It's expensive. There is also valet but that is expensive. Why do we have to pay parking for patients? Your appointment is never under two hours; you would be lucky if it was. The street parking is the cheapest and so far I have been lucky in finding one close especially, for my parents. All in all, I appreciate the staff here in trying to help us the best they can. There is a medically known requirement for neurological assessments of patients, such as our daughter, with the previous history of syncope falls and hematoma that was established in order to avoid/prevent potential complications of the ECT treatment. This requirement, posted on both Mayo and Cleveland Clinics sites was firmly requested by us parents. It was rejected/ignored by the ECT treatment psychiatrist. As one may expect the blood clothes that are present can move if exposed to electric field and can produced brain swelling and other forms of electrical brain damage. In our daughter's case we have seen severe allergic reaction , very serious Urine incontinence and worsening of her mental health. It has completely erased her memory and produced reconstructed memories. Not only this but additionally she got a covid at the unit and was negligently released from the hospital while having covid and without informing us as her parents. we as parents have reported to the stuff an attending psychiatrist several times that our daughter is coughing but no action was taken. To our surprise the well known and seen delay in the ECT caused allergy of our daughter was tried to be presented as being caused by something else. In addition her current urinary incontinence was falsely presented in her after visit summary as has being already present when she was accepted to the unit for the treatment .

The lot is also just one big spiral upwards, so there is always traffic passing in either direction, so you don't feel alone or isolated. The spots themselves are a bit tight together, so it's always questionable if you'll find a new ding on the side of your car. And the turn lanes are also tight so it may be difficult for two cars in opposite directions to make a turn into the same corner at the same time. There are also no pedestrian lanes so you're essentially walking in the middle of car lanes when traveling to/from your vehicle. So be wary of speeding cars that are taking the turns too quickly. Parking rates are very reasonable here at $3/hr, and increasing up to only $9 for 6hrs. Full day parking is also available at a max rate of $18.

The imaging and blood labs are efficient and professional as well. Free parking in a huge lot for the first hour, then the labs and docs will validate for the additional time. If they're only giving my 5 minutes of my doctor's time, the least they could do is pay attention and get it right. I'm not confident that Mychart messaging adequately protects patient privacy. They frame it like youre messaging your PC directly however every time use this feature i either dont get a response or I wait several days to get a thoughtless response from some random non-medical person in the office. I recently waited 1.5 - 2 months to get a 15 minute call with my doctor, but they cancelled at the last minute because I mentioned that I'm traveling out of state for work which I have to do quite frequently. John Muir Health policy is to only speak with you when you're physically in CA which in my case creates an unacceptable amount of time where I lack coverage. Needless to say, I'm looking elsewhere for a new PC.

They were attentive, compassionate, and truly did everything possible to help her during a critical situation. I'm very grateful for the medical team and the care they provided. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the security staff. I had been with my mom since 9 AM and at no point was I ever given a visitor badge or informed that I needed one. For a brief moment, I switched places with my dad, which was communicated to the MA helping my mother. When I came back, security suddenly acted as if they had no idea who I was and questioned why I entered without "permission," making me feel as though I was being accused of trespassing. Richmond Kaiser ER seriously needs to reevaluate the people they have working security. Some of the most ignorant and disrespectful people I dealt with the entire day were the security guards. They act like they hold the highest position in the hospital, talking to families with attitude and zero compassion during emergencies. It's crazy how the least respected and probably lowest paid position wants to act the most authoritative. The way they spoke to me, you would've thought they were nurses or actual medical staff, when in reality they're security guards whose job is to observe, report, and communicate professionally. Instead, they escalated an already stressful situation and lacked basic human respect and manners. Their people skills seriously need improvement.
