I give Dr. Lee five stars in the dental clinic as well as her assistant Anyen It is very difficult for me to go to the dentist so they are having distraction for the first time of my life. I was woke. The only thing I felt honestly was the pressure just so she explained she was very thorough about keeping me updated step-by-step, and completed the process With almost no pain. I cannot believe it. I'm so happy to say I've done it but only with Dr. Lee at Highland Hospital she was the best I've ever seen in my 50+ years of life. With a little laughing, gas and lidocaine.

It's Sept 2024, and my job sent me to Highland Hospital on Kaiser business. Security entry at the main entrance requires walking thru a metal detector, possible wanding, and dumping all your stuff in a bin. On Sept 3, the guards were very nice and professional. The process is quick. They're looking for weapons, and there's an "Amnesty Dropbox" right outside. I had to go to Radiology, which is on the 3rd floor of the new building. It's a long walk from the main entrance. On the way, I walked pass the ER and a security checkpoint. You get to X-Ray, and I have to wait. The Record Clerk goes on lunch, and no one covers her desk while she's gone. A line forms, and everyone just waits. Overall, I good experience at this County hospital. I can never say anything bad about Highland because they saved my life in 1989. As always, thank you.

My grand daughter (19 years old, but mentally 6 years ) needs her wisdom teeth removed. She is Special Needs and has seizures and may need to be sedated. Can I feel comfortable having it done at Highland Hospital?

I'm inclined to say yes, but you should ask them questions and let them know what the situation is. Highland Hospital is a teaching hospital, and a #1 Trauma facility. Our experience with the doctors and staff was amazing, and I can only assume…

Dedicated parking lot for all emergency visitors etc with a loading zone area for quicker/closer access. Didn't need surgery but they were great at giving me the care I needed which was urgent and worked because the urgent care basically closed by the time I needed to go. Good quality drs and nurses that were knowledgeable and friendly. I felt taken care of even though it was a long time- which everyone knows ERs are super long waits already but they definitely worked to make me comfortable. The only downside was that despite the partnership with Sutter health, my ER dr/team was not able to see the CT scan I did at Sutter in Fremont earlier in the day :( they were able to see all other meds and it's in my portal just fine though!

The care I've received was phenomenal! The first nurse who registered me in was super supportive. I didn't get her name but she was a G.I nurse prior and a nurse for 20 years, she wore all red, has short hair with cute glasses! She was very informative, helpful and direct. It was a great experience! There were many staff who also help me to relax about the whole procedure. I honestly don't remember the surgery but remember the after care. The staff who cared for me were Chris, Gia and Senora/ Cinora. Chris made sure I was awake and aware when the anesthesia wore off before sending me to the recovery room where I met nurse Gia. Nurse Gia helped me with understanding the after care instructions, made sure I was well and okay to leave. It was cool to get to know her as well, we have very similar birthdays and I think that was cool! Senora/ Cinora was very kind and sweet. Overall, I had a great experience with 3rd floor- Surgery Intake and would highly recommend them to other people. Thanks to all the medical staffs and doctors also!

Im 19 year old woman, pretty young and i have anxiety. I obviously was nervous. The staff were so nice! They were responsive about my head injuries i have had previously, and made sure to joke around to make care easier. First thing they did was get be on some light painkillers, didn't help much, but it was nice of them. The guy who was treating me had 3 daughters, so already he was responsive to me. He was hilarious. I am honestly very scared of needles, which he was quick to point out as ridiculous since i have 18 gauge holes all over me. I have a lot of piercings (like a lot). He said this would be nothing, and told me to be at the beach. My demeanor may have made their jobs easier because I did get a small giggle out of a seemingly very exhausted nurse near him. My nurse in the ER main area was honestly the best. It was cool because she made my appointment personal! I have gotten concussions from rugby in the past, and the nurse who took my case said she came because she also plays rugby! CRAZY. Honeslty she gave me great advice and told me to consider (seriously consider) stopping. She was great. I wish i could remember her name! (She was the best nurse i have ever had for anything ever shoutout her). I was definitely not wanting to stay long so as soon as they said i was ok and not suffering anything life threatening i got out of there. They gave me a muscle relaxer that was an absolute godsend and i'm so thankful for that. I recently have been getting better. My headache comes back sometimes, and i believe that after recent a head CT, it is a chronic migraine or something else like neck or muscle tension. Could also be Post Concussion Syndrome. Oh also i got that head CT at Alta Bates too! It was like 5 minutes and the nurse was great. Results came back normal! Alta Bates is also where I was born so nice reunion with the place after 19 years! I recommend it. Side Note: I did come on a very not busy day, and i had pre evaluated insurance that is partnered with the hospital. Thus my care was a lot quicker than others. I got very lucky, but the staff were were truly put me at ease. Still, take this review with a slight grain of salt.

When we were discharged from the hospital, I remember one of the nurses like walking me all the way to the car making sure I was like buckled in and they warmly said goodbye to me. I had unlimited supply of water and round the clock assistance whenever I needed it, and they worked with my birthing Doula quite well during the actual birth.

We were offered Ativan or morphine immediately in the ER and I kept agreeing and asking for what was offered, to have it walked back by the nurse. An ER nurse left a syringe of oral medication with us, which the child did not consume because he was still traumatized by the poor IV placement which took several tries. And yet hours later we had to keep reminding nurses that the painkiller medication was not taken, yet someone recorded their painkiller medication for my child as taken when it wasn't?! My poor kid suffered extra hours because the nurse incorrectly logged his medication as taken after treating him like a dog. You can't administer meds orally with a torture device - so disappointing for a leading CHIlDREN'S hospital. Poor medication management. The nurse who traumatized our kid twice to get the IV line in said she would get him his favorite color popsicle but didn't bring it. I had to ask the next set of hospital staff who came over to fulfill the promise of a green prize for enduring the unfortunate IV experience. What kind of trust are nurses and healthcare providers building in kids when we don't follow up on simple things? This is all bait and switch, up and down. Two nurses offered to move us from the "door bed" to the "window bed", and the window seat was open when the window bed emptied for a day, so I sat at the window seat to eat lunch, but was chased out by a charge nurse shaming me for contaminating a space that wasn't mine. Finally our bedside nurse moved us to the window bed a few hours later and I feel safe sitting on the window seat my child has been stuck in this room for days. Perhaps parents need the Ativan more because the howls of sick children getting treatment fill the inpatient halls. Is there no way to utilize a soundproofed treatment room so it's less ridiculously loud with children's screams? Please take your ill children elsewhere. We have been stuck here two long painful nights so far and I can't wait for us to get out of this place.

I arrived right at 11 because I had gotten lost trying to find the correct building. I had never been to this location before, and having two separate buildings made it confusing to navigate. I parked on the opposite side of John Muir so I didn't even see the sign from where I parked and went down the wrong elevator. Once I finally found the correct building, I checked in and was given a number. I assumed my name would also be called, especially if I somehow missed my number. I was sitting a little farther away from the robotic voice announcing numbers, and after about 40 minutes, I realized I had apparently been waiting for no reason. I never heard my number or my name called. Mind you, there's people left and right being called from different areas of the office, other people are taking phone calls, so of course it gets a little hectic and noisy! What I don't understand is if a patient checks in and misses their number being called, why is there no attempt to call their name afterward? I was clearly checked into the system and physically sitting in the waiting room. There should be some sort of follow-up rather than just leaving a patient sitting there indefinitely. I ended up being there for around 45 minutes for a blood draw. By that point I was sitting in my seat trying not to cry out of pure frustration. I also made a conscious effort not to take my frustration out on the phlebotomist because I knew it wasn't necessarily their fault. I understand that healthcare facilities get busy and delays happen, but this felt less like a normal delay and more like a poor check-in/calling system. Patients coming in for lab work may already be dealing with stressful medical situations. The last thing they need is to sit there wondering whether they've been forgotten. I really hope they improve their process for patients who miss hearing their number, because simply calling the patient's name afterward would have prevented this entire experience.

If they're only giving my 5 minutes of my doctor's time, the least they could do is pay attention and get it right. I'm not confident that Mychart messaging adequately protects patient privacy. They frame it like youre messaging your PC directly however every time use this feature i either dont get a response or I wait several days to get a thoughtless response from some random non-medical person in the office. I recently waited 1.5 - 2 months to get a 15 minute call with my doctor, but they cancelled at the last minute because I mentioned that I'm traveling out of state for work which I have to do quite frequently. John Muir Health policy is to only speak with you when you're physically in CA which in my case creates an unacceptable amount of time where I lack coverage. Needless to say, I'm looking elsewhere for a new PC.
