A nice surprise! We had a little time to kill before check in time at our Airbnb. And I had come prepared with local (generally speaking, as nothing is very close by to anything else in this area) brewery and winery options to possibly check out. Highland Manor was the closest and simplest to get to, so that is how we decided on this one. Turns out, the winery shares the property with one of the breweries that I had bookmarked! We were the only ones there when we walked in, and had a great time doing a full tasting with the friendly employee. I think you get 3 samples for free, but more than that costs a little and you can try everything as well as get a small glass to keep. The offerings were ok. Good enough that a we got a few bottles to either bring home or to enjoy on our cabin weekend. They also had frozen wine offerings, and we got to include trying the beer and cider they had on tap as well. We also got a growler of one of their ciders to bring to the cabin for the weekend. The visit was lovely, mostly thanks to the friendly wine steward. Definitely recommend a stop in, if you are in the broadly general area. read more

I tried to buy a bottle of wine today and they would not sell it to me unless I gave them my full name and address she refused to sell me the wine. Why do you need this makes no sense. Have been here with different out of state family twice. They've liked it both times, nice to taste some wine, and then grab a glass to sip outside while catching up. We also like to go to the tap house that's on site, they also have food, but the hours are different for that business. read more

Such a friendly place. Everybody treats you like family there. They had some really good wine and we came home with a few cases but they were four of us very good I recommend it and it's the oldest winery in Tennessee. That tells you something. read more

I've been there & "The Sawbriar" Highland Manor Winery was very memorable. The food was good. The service was good & they had live music.

Terrific wines, great staff and on Saturday night they have a band and food trucks! They are sooo accommodating and informative! 30+ years (I believe) they have been in the wine making business, and their prices are very very fair. The gift shop is so expansive and fairly priced as well. Take a pick of cheeses, crackers & meats for the picnic basket they will loan to you to enjoy on the grounds! It was YUMMY! Don't miss the brewery on the grounds as well. The hubby really enjoyed the 20+ beers on tap. What ever strikes your fancy they will no doubt have! read more

I visited Highland Manor Winery one gloomy Saturday morning with a group of 12 other ladies. There was only one employee there that day, but she handled it like a pro! She said that there are only 4 people employed there, so this is a small operation. She took us on a tour of the winery, though she said that she usually doesn't give tours. It was pretty obvious that she didn't know too much about how the wine was made or what went on in the back, but she was friendly enough. The tasting, of course, was the best part! She was incredibly patient while we tasted all of the wines that they have to offer. I picked out 3 to purchase: Highland Sunset, Royal Rose and Muscadine. They're all sweet wines, which is all that I drink. There is supposedly a waiting list to get the Muscadine, however she was able to sell us each a bottle, if we wanted. Maybe the waiting list is something they say exists so that people will buy it or it will be more popular. Either way, it's good wine, and I'm glad that I was able to purchase a bottle. The prices are reasonable, and you can see the range on their website. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area, though it is a bit in the middle of nowhere for city folk like me. read more

We began our local winery tour here, but we wish we would have saved Highland for the last because nothing after it came anywhere close! The wines were spectacular, especially the Seyval Blanc and Muscadine. Both grapes usually yield rather sweet wines, but the vintner did an excellent job of controlling the sugars. The gift shop is fabulous, with plenty of knick-knacks to choose from and an EXTENSICE choice of cheese, crackers and meats to enjoy with your wine. Finally, the service here was awesome. Cindy not only did a great job with the wine tasting, she offered the use of the wine cellar where we could enjoy a glass or two while snacking on the cheeses, meats and crackers from the gift shop. Between the wine, gift shop and service, this was probably the best winery stop we have made in several years. We will definitely be back! read more

Now that I've been in several times, I feel more welcomed. Wine prices a little high for the over all wine quality, in my personal opinion. Nice Merlot for cooking, but wouldn't try to wow a crowd by serving it. Several cheaper store red wines are a lot better. The berry wines, taste like just that, berry juice. Its a beautiful piece of property, very nice gift shop. Perfect place to find a wine lovers gift and have a quiet picnic. read more

I need to be in the middle of the road here after experiencing winetasting I went on my own and bottle of bottle there Cabernet extremely bitter and very hard to choke down a glass. On the other hand the other two bottles that I bought from the wine tasting experience were amazing. So do yourself a favor and go through their wine-tasting they have some great choices to choose from. read more

Didn't get a chance to visit the winery but will the next time we are back in Tennessee. I did however get a case of your White Muscadine wine shipped to me here in Maryland. I simply love it as Muscadine turned out to be my favorite! Only place I have found yet that ships Muscadine into Maryland and Delaware. read more

We came to Highland Manor as Harvest Host members and we are so glad that we did! We did a FREE wine tasting of all of their wines and even got to taste their new cider and wine slushies. Everything was delicious! They have a beautiful patio sitting area overlooking the vineyard and a very cool wine cellar area to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine. They also have a gift shop with tons of cute things to buy along with an assortment of cheese and crackers. We bought a bottle of Seyval Blanc to enjoy while there and a wine freezer pack and a bottle of Royal White as a gift for our friends! The staff here were excellent, so hospitable and knowledgeable about the wines! Definitely plan to come here and spend an afternoon.You won't be disappointed! read more

Probably our third visit to this winery....Took us about 45 mins but well worth the drive son in law loves dry and his favorite was cab franc...highland red ... And Riesling....daughter hubby and I are sweet drinkers and muscadine is a must when visiting any Tennessee winery...but Cab Berry is awesome! read more

Great place to try local and imported (grapes from other places) but within the USA, I believe. Gertie, one of the owners, was a doll. There was an interesting array of wines from which to sample. We decided to purchase a case, for a 10% discount, and bought a cool wine rack that walk mounts! We luvit Butch, Gerties' partner at the Winery, was cool and awesome. Today was our first visit there. It will Not Be our last! The wine was for the most part good to excellent. So too, were the kind ladies that worked there. One of them ( Taffy? ) had a superb taste for sweet vs. dry wines. There were even some merchandise items that we purchased as they were so unique. Give this place a try. This is a location on the Upper Cumberland Wine Tour and was the second stop for us. After traveling several miles from Holly Ridge Winery in Livingston, TN to this location in Jamestown, TN on an extremely crooked back road, I had become quite ill due to car sickness (thanks in part to the driver who is drives dangerously fast). Anyway, I had an upset stomach when I entered the establishment and just wanted to walk around for a while until my stomach settled. We were the only visitors and there was only one employee. She was not very friendly (I suppose she thought I was going to vomit everywhere), and she never bothered to tell us about the location (which is supposedly the oldest winery in Tennessee). I did not taste any wines at this establishment, but understand several were pretty good. The gift shop area was cute, but I will not travel that distance again. read more
