this is the worst place you could take your animals to all they are is hungry for money. I asked them for just the two updated vaccinations for my kitten and they kept trying to push on more and more test and vaccination that he does not need because he does not go outside I asked him to do a surgery with another surgery so he wouldn't be under anesthesia too long but no, they have to do two different surgeries and then when you ask the lady in the room to please stop asking me to keep giving more when my answer is no I kept saying no and she kept going on and on and on and she would not stop talking. She was very rude and they told me I was rude. Don't go there. They're bad people. read more

I had to bring my dog Frisco to Highlands on an emergency basis, his cheek and jaw area were swelling badly from a puncture wound in his mouth that became infected. After calling multiple vet hospitals all morning they were the only ones that had availability, turns out they build time slots into their schedule just for such emergencies! Got there at 3pm, staff was wonderful and Dr Cindi Costin diagnosed it as most likely an abscess and had him in surgery within an hour, I picked him up at 530. Dr Cindi and staff did a tremendous job and his healing was so fast! Two days later you could barely tell he'd been in surgery except for some shaved skin and a small incision that had already healed. I cannot thank them enough and I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

These folks were incredible. We were passing through on our way to Yellowstone and realized we didn't have enough heart medicine for our little guy. It took several phone calls and they got our prescription from our regular vet and had it waiting for us. They charged us nothing but the cost of the drug. Very caring vet hospital. Wow, called Highlands because my vet who has been treating my cat is out of the office today. My cat has taken a bad turn for the worse not eating and lost control of her bladder and bowels. She is rail thin and probably will need to be euthanized. THEY REFUSE TO SEE HER. So much for compassion, helping animals who are suffering....make her suffer until my vet is back tomorrow. read more

This place is the most unprofessional place I've had the displeasure to visit. Long wait times even though you have an appointment, unhelpful to you questions asked about your own pet. Didn't help my dog after numerous visits and a truck load of money. Save your pet and your wallet, go elsewhere. read more

We had a great experience at Highland Veterinary Hospital! While we on vacation in Butte, our little dog hit her head and passed out. We so so worried she may have a concussion. We looked online and saw this office had an after hours emergency service. We called and after a while a vet called us back. We went in immediately. The vet checked our dog out and she was fine thankfully. The vet Jessi was very nice and gentle with our little dog and so was the vet tech. Prices were very reasonable as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for high quality, affordable veterinary care in this area. read more

The front desk is SUPER friendly and helpful, they do such a great job! Whether I come in for a regular set of shots or with a dog that has a face full of porcupine quills, they're ready to roll and just keep smiling. Highlands has been taking care of my dog and three cats with exceptional skill, kindness, and compassion- despite them occasionally being a little unhappy about being poked (ha)- and I am SO impressed with their care. I wouldn't trust anyone else in Butte with my babies, they've proven over and over that even through the most difficult times (COVID, overwhelming schedules, rude customers) they are the place to take my pets for the best care. I have retracted my review of Highlands Veterinary Hospital after a serious incident that changed they way I will look at Cindi Costin and her hospital. My cat didn't have any teeth. You can imagine the gravity of my situation when I learned that he had broken his arm and had two choices: 1) Expensive, reconstructive surgery, or 2) a full amputation; my heart sank. I couldn't afford the first, and the latter seemed unfavorable as he was already missing his teeth. He was basically defenseless. So I chose to euthanize my almost 9 year old boy. As such, I informed Highlands of my decision, and they asked me to come down to the hospital for the procedure. I'm not sure how to describe what happened next, so I'm just going to call it a nightmare. Without informing me, Dr. Costin called Albert's Angel Fund. They agreed to pay for the amputation as long as I surrendered my cat. *record scratch* "No," my friends and I said, "He is already defenseless from not having any teeth, and now you are going to cut off his arm and send him back to the shelter?" Dr. Costin assured me that his needs would be accommodated and that maybe he could go live in a garage with his new foster family. Yep... a toothless, armless cat has the opportunity to look forward to wondering where his human mother went and why he is living in a garage. I declined their "opportunity" and elected to euthanize. So, Dr. Costin had me signed a consent to cease treatment, which I thought was the precursor to euthanasia. They brought my cat back into the room and handed me a receipt for the "services" rendered. I said to the tech, "No, this cat is being euthanized." She said, "Dr. Costin will not euthanize the cat because she does not ethically agree with him being put down." So, Dr. Costin has an "ethical" concern over euthanization because of a simple amputation, but she has no problem releasing a cat that has been under heavy sedation and has had his broken arm poked and prodded, and it still wasn't fixed. I think anyone with a brain can see how this line of thinking is faulty and illogical: Don't euthanize a cat to make a point, but it's okay to release him in extreme pain? I don't understand this, and Dr. Costin is an embarrassment to the community of Butte and surrounding areas. Other highlights from the Day Of Hell, include: - Dr. Costin looking back at me one more time and saying, "Are you sure you don't want to do anything to save his life?" - Being chased with a clipboard by a chubby secretary for payment. I saw her at least 4 times in my 2 hours there. Don't worry folks, Highland's got every last penny for sedation and x-rays, plus the office visit. - When I refused Albert's Angel Fund, she called them and put Jacki Casagranda, from Albert's, on the phone. Even after I said, "No," she continued to rail me about amputation. I said no at least 15 times on the phone call. I have never been so appalled in my whole, entire life. - I was also blamed for the broken arm by Dr. Costin because I waited to take him in. I'm sorry, but the chubby secretary wouldn't let me make an appointment without $90. You refused treatment because I couldn't pay. You are the ones with blood on your hands. So, after all of this, I took him to Amherst. Animal Hospital at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, where Dr. Peretti agreed that my cat was too old to heal properly and that it was ethically okay to put him to sleep. Finally, my boy got the peace he needed from the pain. Yes, I am angry at Highland's, and I want to make one thing very clear to anyone considering this vet: Highland's will not help you make the tough decision to put an animal down, which is a very important part of owning a pet. They only made this part worse, and I hope that someday, "doctor" Costin realizes that she acted like a spiteful, petty witch on a day when I needed her good judgment the most. read more

Animal lovers beware! I will never bring my babies back to this Vet again! Ever! I brought my dog up from Texas 3 months ago and brought her into her initial appointment in order to continue her heart worm preventative. I was very specific with brand of medicine she was taking in Texas but the vet stated they didn't carry this. They had "revolution" instead. I said that I was ok with it as long as it was effective. After getting the medicine home, I realized they gave me a liquid solution in a capsule which required you to break the seal and apply on her skin. I called back and explained that I preferred the heart work pills instead but would use this until it ran out. 3 months later, I called to renew my heart work medicine and I was informed that she was not on heart worm medicine but that they treated her for Fleas and ticks???? Excuse me? Heart worm is "DEADLY" and she has not been treated in over 3 months? I asked to speak with the Veterinarian and she got on the phone saying that "She didn't know what happened the past 3 months", but what she could do today! EXCUSE ME? The past 3 months worth of my dog's health doesn't matter to you? Such disregard for their customers and their customer's pets. I will never bring my babies back to this facility again. I am going to file a claim with the state veterinary medical association and then to the state veterinary licensing board. I feel strongly about this. Love and compassion for animals should be the reason they are in this business to begin with but at the end of the day, this Vet could have cared less that my dog went untreated for the past 3 months. I would hope that anyone reading this would be alarmed and proceed with caution. I am beyond upset, I am furious! read more
