In November when my pet died I brought his body to St. Francis to cremate. They were very respectful and reassuring he was going to be taken care of. They answered all my questions and concerns. They sent a sympathy card to me right after which was thoughtful. When it was the holidays I received another card that was hand designed and you could tell they made out of the kindness of their heart. I recommend this place for any of your pet needs. Ask questions before you take your dog to this place for grooming. We have two Cocker Spaniels and have used this facility for a number of years. My wife and I really like the groomer and she does an excellent job. My KUDOs to her BUT the management's policy really upset my wife and I when we picked up our dogs yesterday. The bill was in my opinion was way out of line. We were told that both dogs required a flu shot before they would do the grooming. This information was given to us several hours after we dropped the dogs off in the morning. Yes, I could have gone a picked them up but we thought that maybe all Groomers/Vets require this vaccination. I remembered that last year there was an outbreak of a nasty dog flue in Montana and we did have them vaccinated for that particular outbreak. Since maybe there was another outbreak this year we told them to ahead and give them the shots. My wife picked up the dogs around 3:00 pm and was very pleased with the grooming but shocked at the bill. The grooming went up by about $3.00 per dog and is not a big deal but should have been mentioned when we dropped the dogs off in the morning. The vaccination costs more than doubled the bill and when my wife questioned the cost the answer that was given in that the Vet is required to give each dog an examination prior to vaccination. What?? Understand that we use Saint Francis for grooming only. We use a different facility in town for their health care and that facility has taken care of our pets for almost 40 years. Our normal Vet knows the medical histories of our pets and performs all of the health needs for our pets. They did the grooming as well but they haven't had a groomer for a number of years, so we chose St. Francis to do the grooming. My big complaint is that I was under the false impression that this vaccination and examination was probably a requirement for all places that groom, board, or give health care to dogs but it is not! I checked with my Vet and another groomer and neither has such a requirement. In my opinion it is just a way for whoever runs the place to make money. My wife and I take extreme care of our dogs and give them the best health care possible but if my Vet of 40 years tells me it is not necessary then I believe it is not necessary. Again, we really like the Groomer and I have heard nothing but good things about the Vets. I would not hesitate to take my dogs there if I could not get them into my normal Vet. However, I called the receptionist yesterday and informed her we would no longer use their facility for grooming. I left a message since no one picked up the phone. read more
