I visited Highway 61 a few days ago while visiting Vicksburg. This is a cute little coffee shop right on the main road of downtown, so if you're visiting one of the many historic sites or museums nearby, this is the perfect spot! There's seating indoors and a few spots outside if you're looking for a place to relax yourself or with a group. There are lots of different drink options, and everything is a great price! The barista was very friendly and got my drink quickly! There were a few non-dairy options for in the coffee, and I enjoyed the oat milk in my latte. This is a great little spot you should check out while in Vicksburg! read more

Cannot tell you about the products they sell/serve. We walked in and there was no line. There was also no customer service or customer awareness. The 2 behind the counter were carrying on a personal conversation that was definitely not for everyone to hear.... We stood there waiting for a couple moments and then moved closer to the area where you would pay and we still received no acknowledgment of any kind. We ended up walking to the Bohemian Cafe & Bakery and were delighted to find great service with food and drinks to match. read more

Great location . Historic surrounding to see and learn about the city of Vicksburg and the civil war and Mississippi history. Great coffee with a variety to pick from. And delicious coffee cake. Relaxing atmosphere, and great vibe. Will be back. read more

If you're looking for coffee in Vicksburg, Highway 61 is the place to go. I wont sit here and claim to be some sort of coffee expert. I drink it every day, as does any red blooded american worth their salt, but an expert I am not. What I do know is that I like my coffee strong, slightly bitter and free from adulterants. I also like coffee shops that are local with a bit of a funky vibe. Highway 61 hits my key likes, but with a few key minuses. I ordered iced coffee, black. I could be wrong, but I believe I saw them make my coffee using store bought cold brew. The container they used looked identical to the one I buy and use at home. It wasn't bad or anything, but I like when the coffee is made in house. Maybe they made it there and transferred it to the plastic squeeze container, or maybe they just bought it in the store. Either way, the coffee wasn't bad and did its job of getting caffeine into my system. The shop is small and laid out oddly. There is a metal bar separating the ordering area from the seating area. It seems like it would be easier to maneuver around without the bar. The seating area doesn't really encourage lingering like most coffee shops I'm used to. Maybe that too is by design, but it was off putting. My favorite thing about this shop is actually that the space above it is one of my favorite galleries anywhere. Make sure you check that out. While Highway 61 isn't the best coffee shop I've been to, it is a solid option (maybe the only option) in Vicksburg. read more

Wonderful little spot! I'm a local, and come basically every day (well, except Sundays--they're closed then). Super friendly, super *cheap*, great coffee. Very quirky little space--and some quirky regulars!--with loads of charm, just below an amazing gallery of Southern and outsider art. Excellent place to work--good Wifi, normally quiet and uncrowded, you're welcome to linger. Right in downtown Vicksburg--no parking lot, but there's *always* parking spots available right close, often right in front. So whether you're local or are a tourist, very highly recommended--it's actually very worth a detour off the interstate. Only thing: *come before noon*!! The coffee shop closes at 12:00 every day, bit of a shame they're not open in the afternoon. read more

Favorite coffee shop in Vicksburg! The girls are always so friendly and do such a good job making my coffee each time. The caramel they use is the best I've ever tasted, I don't know what they use but it's good! It's a nice space to study, but can get crowded sometimes- no worries if this was the case I'd enjoy a nice walk through the street! Upstairs is a really cool art exhibit, check it out if you have some time. Tip: refills on regular coffee are included while you're there. read more

I'm not really a coffeehouse type of person. Don't get me wrong, I love coffee...but I'm just not cool enough to hang out in a coffeehouse. I'm more of a drive thru type of coffee loving girl. Here's the thing, though. Certain coffee houses give me a warm fuzzy feeling when I muster up the courage to venture inside. Highway 61 Coffeehouse does just that. It's inviting and homey. It's funky and cool. Awesome folk art adorns the walls. The iced chocolate mocha I had was so good and I drank every last drop. It was good, good, good. Husband and wife own the coffee shop and the art gallery located upstairs. You can tell they are passionate about what they do. If you're apprehensive like I was, don't be. You'll love this place. read more

'Annie you look like a pirate.' After all my time living in MS I should have learnt that cutting edge Spanish fashion does not translate well in small town Mississippi. 'Don't you know this label?' 'No gurl I don't, all I know is all you need is an eye patch and a parrot. You will get your behind stared at if you go out looking like that.' 'I ain't scared.' 'Gurl you crazy.' 'So.' I found a great café in small town America that accepts the crazys. This is how to relax on my holiday, sitting out in the blanket of humidity, sipping a coffee and looking out over the Yazoo river and at the river boat that chugs up and down. So many visual treats whilst blues music plays from the speakers, this is my kind of place. Coffee 61 has free wi-fi, decent coffee, that Southern hospitality and a mish-mash of Southern art as its part of an art gallery. My personal favourite part of the café is their notice about the lights in loo. They are sensor activated to save energy. They kindly note that if the lights go out, 'Don't worry, just wave your arms around like you just don't care.' The folks round here are polite enough to talk about my crazy pirate shorts when I am out of earshot, well at least they try... 'I think she is European or something.' Stumbled in here on a road trip from Pittsburgh to New Orleans and am really glad I did. We were beat from an 8 hour drive from Memphis and spent about 2 hours in here relaxing. Route 61 is small, quaint, and decorated with local art, which by the way is really good. The lighting is soft and there are plenty of comfy seats to lounge around in and outlets along the wall to plug in your laptop. They serve all the normal coffee shop products, but the real reason to come here is to experience the vibe. It has a little bit of a hippy feel which surprised me in the deep south, but Route 61 and my entire road trip has made me realize the American South is more than just a bunch of cotton fields and really has a great vibe that all Americans should experience at some point in their lives. read more

Well well well, found this hidden gem from you crazy Yelpers ... I was so looking forward to getting some java in a cool local atmosphere... After I maneuvered my way through the smokers I entered the library style java joint... Only to not be greeted by the grumpy gal behind the counter...no greeted her and asked her if she would like to take my order.. She was not helpful, she was agitated by my questions.. The menu above was vague so I asked about a particular drink and that really caused some attitude.. Yikes! The locals in there were not friendly either... No Hellos or smiles.... Geeze! Drink some more coffee! This will not be a future stop for me again... I shoulda just hit up Starbucks! Sorry to break it to ya but this place was not a good start to my day :( read more

I spent most of the morning in this iconic coffee shop on the north end of Washington Street in the artistic part of this old town. Service was excellent and the coffee was really excellent. I also had a multigrain bagel with cream cheese--also tasty. It's not really a breakfast place, since bagels and cake slices were the only food items on offer. However, just take a seat with your coffee and soak up the environment. You have a choice of seats outside on the front landing or inside around an assortment of tables. Pick up a copy of the Vicksburg Post, the local newspaper, or browse through assorted books on shelves around the store. Upstairs is a small but functioning art gallery. Next door is a boutique book store, Lorelei, with an excellent choice of both nationally listed and local authors. This place is what a coffee shop should be like. read more

I just moved to Vicksburg and was initially dismayed to find that the closest Starbucks was at least 30 minutes away. That was until I discovered Highway 61 Coffeehouse. It's everything that a Starbucks is (great coffee) and everything a Starbucks wants to be (fantastic ambiance). This is one of those places you go with friends, order a cup of coffee and sit back and enjoy the company and the locale. A hidden gem! read more

So thankful Vicksburg has Highway 61 Coffeehouse!!! It has friendly dedicated staff and the best simple breakfast options of granola with bananas, all types of bagels and homemade sweet coffee cakes! The coffee is perfect and it is located in the hip and artsy historic downtown so walkable from anywhere you are staying downtown. Wake up and join the locals at this favorite hangout! Daniel the owner is also the genius behind the Strand theatre movie house downtown, also a true must experience in Vicksburg! read more

Funky, vintage, artsy local-owned coffee shop meets Southern charm-infused main street, paired with homemade pound cake yummyness. Perfect. If we weren't just passing through, I would have lingered. Gallery upstairs is filled with interesting finds. We stopped here because I love supporting locally owned coffee shops and I detest Starbucks. IMO this shop should sell big cookies... I would've bought one! You can sit right out front and enjoy a view of the Mississippi. Afterwards head down the street to "The Dragonfly" to pick up a nice souvenir (lots of cute, neat things.) Don't forget to drive through the Vicksburg National Military park, which is unforgettably beautiful in a very somber way. read more

Really hip vibe here! The owners seem dedicated to sustainable practices and quality coffee. I took a coffee to go which was really good, but next time I swing by I'd like to hang out for a while. They have neat art decorating the walls; one of the owners creates it in her upstairs art gallery. Apparently there's live music here too, sometimes which would be great to swing by for. Definitely a cool place to check out if you're downtown. read more

I have visited this cozy and coffee place twice, at different times and the owner always remembers me. Coffee, service and the ambient of Highway 61 makes a great to spend the evening enjoying a good conversation with locals or just to have a tasty coffee. These guys are *great*. Went in, ordered (totally EXCELLENT) coffee, had a chat about where I'm from, *and* they did me a favor (I had a bag of coffee beans I *didn't* buy from them that needed grinding, and they were so kind and got it done for me.) Best coffee in town, BY FAR. Also the kindest, and with the most enjoyable atmosphere. Couldn't be better. (plus, right next door to a bookstore, so.....bonus) read more

I have to admit it up front, I am a Starbucks kind of guy. Not a straight up coffee drinker, don't do coffee black or anything like that. When I visit Starbucks which is pretty much every day, I'll get some kind of "fru fru" type of drink that sometimes will have coffee in it. Well, in Vicksburg there is no Starbucks or any coffee "chain" per se. So what do I do? Being here for business my work colleague and I decide to visit this place. I couldn't have been more pleased. Not a large place but it doesn't need to be, eclectic with a hint of hipsterness, I loved it. My friend had coffee black while I had a latte. I knew it wouldn't taste like a Starbucks latte and I didn't try and be that guy who asks them to make it like I would get at a Starbucks, I kept it simple, well I I did opt to have hazelnut added which was one of many syrups they offer. It was one of the best lattes I've ever had. My friends coffee was very good as well. We both also got a slice of pound cake which I believe is from a bakery down the street, also excellent. If I lived here I would visit this place all the time, no question. Hope to be back some day and will come in again. read more

What a great experience! Traveling through the state and we stopped here for a quick pick me up. The place has a casual, cool Austin-like vibe, art is everywhere with an entire gallery upstairs. I ordered a black coffee and asked for a shot of pumpkin flavor, the extremely friendly barista suggested an additional white chocolate shot, it was so delicious! Everyone else in the party tried various flavors of the frozen mojo, DELICIOUS!!!!! P.S. The sign in the bathroom is hiloooonious! read more

What a quaint little find in the heart of old town Vicksburg! Friendly service... Great coffee and super atmosphere! Would definitely go out of our way to stop here again when in the area! We were looking for a good cup of coffee in Vicksburg when we stumbled into Highway 61. We were pleasantly surprised. The barista was very friendly and the coffees were moderately priced even with the 2 shots of espresso we added to their medium roast coffee. One of the best cups of coffee we've enjoyed on our trip from TX to GA & back! read more

I tried the place I knew but it was closed. Lucky for me, this place was right across the street. I won't bore you with the details of why Vicksburg is a special place to me. Just know that it is. I haven't been in a long time so stopping for coffee brought back some great memories. Anyway, back to the review. This is an incredibly cool place. The clothing is outdoor focused and very stylish. The pizza was equally as good, and I'm unashamedly snobby and critical about pizza. Admittedly, the only thing that may put people off is how greasy they are. I literally had a grease stain on my pants after resting the box on my lap for a couple of minutes on the ride home. But that aside, the flavor of both pizzas was fantastic! Perfect amount of cheese, a great tasting sauce, and a perfectly charred crust that wasn't too thick or too thin (although you will need to fold it to eat it or the slice will flop downward from the weight of the cheese). If you love pizza and wings, then eat here. As an aside, I've also had their beer, which is served at the property we were staying at, in Vicksburg. The Mr. Sippi is a very drinkable Pilsner. So all-in-all, you can't go wrong here!

I can definitely feel a difference with the energy level and it just feels good especially with the amount of deep fried food I have been eating while in Vicksburg. My only wish is that there was a seating/communal area but given the location and such, it makes sense that they do not. Glad to have this gem so close to the office!

Until this last trip I had never had the sandwich that made them famous. Now that I have, I can say that this is a must stop. Heck, it may be worth a drive if you are within an hour or two. The only thing you need to know is that you must order a fried green tomato BLT. In my entire life I have never intentionally ordered a BLT. To me, this is the most dumb idea for a sandwich I have ever heard of. Until now. This is quite possibly one of teh most perfect sandwiches I have ever had. It is so great that I wanted a second when I was done but it definitely would not have been as good later as it was fresh. Amazing. Service was as friendly as one should expect from a roadsie shack such as this. The one worker took our order, made it, delievered it, and gave us some pork rinds with their homemade hot sauce to try. That was a solid thing to do as it made me buy two of their hot sauces stored in old coke bottles. Just come here. Order the BLT. Thank me later.
